Volunteering and charityMost of the times doing charity is connected to how much money

one has and his/her financial status and often ignored because one does not have it, such people are missing a great opportunity. Keeping an eye on the needs of the society/community and filling

those small gaps with whatever little one can do makes a huge difference and pays it forward to make this world a better place for living. Many times I used to think had I had lot of wealth, I

would have done so many things to the community and since I do not have it I completely stopped thinking about it, later I felt pity

about my poor state of mind and enriched it with alternative thinking and started doing small things which gave me happiness

and a sense of worthiness.

What is that alternative thinking?Since I do not have the money, I tagged myself to such an individual who has money and is trying to do some meaningful charity. I joined his cause to make him succeed in his noble cause so that he is encouraged to do more of it. (Sankar Foundation Visakhapatnam) The humble start in small house has grown

into a state of the art eye hospital providing vision to the poor and needy people. (If you wish to donate please donate directly through their secured web site www.sankarfoundation.in ) Picture showing new equipment we bought for the foundation in the early days of formation 1997-1998 showing it

Take out some time to volunteer in company sponsored programs help the school children learn other than what they learn from the school curriculum to equip them to

make better choicesThis is one of the great choices I made in my life, It is so wonderful to work with little school children and see their shining eyes and the proud feeling when they do things other than the regular school stuff wow that filled my heart with unforgettable joy!

Bridge the need and source to make things happen for both with little participation and involvement

If you do not have the money to do charity so what! with little involvement find the source of availability and the source of need and build a bridge to bring both together to make it happen by writing a grant proposal!

This is how it worked!

Arranging Rotary international funding for a school project in India

It is a small tiny village with bright school going children with dedicated teachers to teach, providing a tool might help the teachers and the students to excel in their achievement. A humble grant of $ 2000 provided by Rotary club of Mars Hill, Maine and presented by local Rotary club changed the way teaching is done. A new technology, an over head projector with pre-loaded syllabus made it easy for teachers to explain complicated lessons audio visually for easy understanding for the students.

If all these things look complicated at least go out and sing few Christmas carols, play cards, play bingo do some magic if you know or play piano if you are into music at an old age home to bring some smiles and happiness to those great people around you and your community!

Just a minute………..!

This posting is not for gaining any publicity, only to give some insights to those who want to do some volunteer work or some charity and holding back because they do not have enough time and money to do it. There are many ways to do it, take the one suits you and march ahead with it!World is so big and the requirements are numerous, every small bit counts and adds up like little drops of water making a mighty ocean!

At one time I used to think I do not have enough time, so ignorant of me, I realized that Edison and Bill Gates had the same 24 hours of time then how could they do all that they did! That made all the difference!
