Staff Changes—Farewell Aolani

After almost 7 years, we say goodbye to Aolani

Delorme. Aolani has been our Administrative

Coordinator, connecting volunteers with

organizations, managing our Better Impact volunteer

matching software, and providing office support .

We wish Aolani well on her new journey of success and

happiness. If you would like to join us in saying good-

bye to Aolani please drop by the centre for cake and

coffee on Thurs., April 12th, 2:30-4 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity: We are gearing up for a busy spring and summer. Construction is starting on Phase 2 of our 11-unit Hilchey Road development in late March. For those who want to help build but don't want to swing a hammer, our ReStore on Willow Street is always welcoming new recruits and is lots of fun! CR Emergency Support Services Team (CRESST): We are trained emergency response volunteers who help evacuees in an emergency. CRESST meets on the last Monday of each month upstairs at the Search and Rescue Building located at 261 Larwood Road at 7pm. Please call 250 203-1972 for information.

The Black Creek Community Association: We can't wait to welcome families to our annual Woodland Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24th from noon-2pm. This whimsical outdoor egg hunt and celebration has something for everyone. Egg hunt, treats, music, circus, animals, nature crafts and more! Entry by donation.

CR Hospital Foundation: The annual lottery is on sale March 23rd! The grand prize is $10,000 Cash and a $10,000 Travel Voucher. Second Prize is $2,500 Cash and Two tickets anywhere WestJet flies. Third prize is $1,000 Cash and One all-inclusive trip to Mexico. Tickets are 1 for $40 or 3 for $100. Purchase online at crhospitalfoundation.ca or by phone at 250-286-7164. All funds raised will stay in Campbell River and go towards the purchase of life saving medical equipment. (Gaming license #103508)

Campbell River First Open Heart Society: The next meeting of the Campbell River First Open Heart Society is on March 28th at 7 PM at the CR Community Center. The guest speaker is Mark Cryderman from the CR Hospital Electro-Diagnostic department. New members always welcome. FMI phone Ken at 250-923-3466.

CR Adult Care Society: All of us would like to thank all of you for your support at our annual fundraiser. It was great fun; people were dancing and laughing along with enjoying a delicious meal. Thank You!

CR Hospice Society: This month we celebrate one year in our new facility at 440 Evergreen. Thanks to long-time volunteers, the generosity of the community, and new volunteers who have stepped forward to offer their experience, time, and talents, we have been able to expand our services to the community. If you are interested in being part of our Hospice Volunteer family, please contact us at [email protected] or stop by our outreach centre for a visit. Thank you Campbell River!

NI Schizophrenia Society: Strengthening Families Together - FREE 10-session course, Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. starts April 10. CR and NI Schizophrenia Society office - 850E – 12th Ave. Register - 250-914-3059 or [email protected]. For family & friends of those with mental illnesses, and professionals and students. Travel allowance for those outside CR available.

Arthritis Society: The Walk for Arthritis will be on Sat. June 2nd for a 1k, and 5 km walk along the seawalk. Funds raised go to funding cutting edge research in arthritis. www.walkforarthritis.ca to register. Contact: Allison Enns at 250-203-4289 or [email protected]

The Salvation Army: Along with the HomesFirst Committee, we are pleased to announce that Campbell River has been chosen for a Point in Time homeless count on Friday April 13th. Thirteen communities across BC will gather information that will inform the provincial government's Poverty Reduction Strategy. Greenways Land Trust: Interpretive Walk No1 - SHORELINE BIRDING: Join Greenways' Director and bird expert, Ray Allan, for a fun and educational birding stroll on the Tyee Spit. Please dress for the weather & bring your questions. Sunday, April 15 @ low tide, 10 AM. Meet @ Parking lot of the playground on the Tyee Spit. Please click here for more details.

NI Dragon Boat Society: Bravehearts dragon boat team is holding a meet and greet on Saturday March 24th from 10am - noon at the Common Mall for any interested women who may want to try out dragon boating this season. Beginners are welcome. Please contact Nancy at 250-203-7501 for more information.
