Brother Knights, Catholic Gentlemen,
As we end this year and plan for 2017 we not only take
time to remember what has been accomplished, but what
is yet to be done. Most importantly remember those we have lost. The passing of Father Louis Giardino, Brother
Knights, Parishioners, family and friends reminds us of
our fragility, and importance of being aware of others in
need.
Our Council continues to grow and I am thankful to work with an exceptional
group of gentlemen as yourselves. We have a number of important events planned in the coming months and your continued efforts will be the measure
of their success. We will be discussing these activities at future Council Busi-
ness meetings. If you are a new member or someone who has been with the
Council for some time and have not participated in one of the other Council activities, then please consider stepping forward to help with these events.
There is never a better opportunity for enjoyable fellowship while giving of
yourself for the greater good.
The “Keep Christ in Christmas” Poster Contest entries were again impressive.
It is always impressive how the children can express the importance of this
holiday on a single sheet of paper and several colors. We will be announcing the winner at the January 2 Council meeting. Recall the winner will select a
charitable organization to receive a $50 donation from the Council submitted
in their name.
In closing, our Council continues to build on your accomplishments which are
rooted in outstanding service to the community, the youth, the Church and
vocations, and our fellow Brothers. Our strength is in your efforts and count-less volunteer hours and support in activities like Special Olympics, Habitat
for Humanity, Culture of Life, exemplification teams, ushers, home ministries,
scouting, Lenten fish fry, and monthly parish breakfasts. This list is only a
small portion of the numerous great and small activities supported because of your desire to help others. I am proud and honored to be considered your
Brother.
As always and especially as we enter into the new year, please take time for yourself and family, aid where possible those less fortunate, and pray for those
in need.
