Volume: is the amount of space an object takes up

Metric standard for volume

is the liter (L)

1L = 1000ml = 1000 cm

Page 3: Volume. Volume: is the amount of space an object takes up Metric standard for volume is the liter (L) 1L = 1000ml = 1000 cm.

liters and milliliters are used to measure liquids

Cubic centimeters are used to measure solids

1cm x 1cm x 1cm = 1 cm³

Irregular solid: uneven in shape, position, arrangement

Volume of Irregular Solids

Volume = Area of base x Height

If A = 15cm and h = 10cm,

then the volume would be:

15 cm x 10 cm = 150 cm

Page 6: Volume. Volume: is the amount of space an object takes up Metric standard for volume is the liter (L) 1L = 1000ml = 1000 cm.

Can also measure volume of an irregular solid by using water displacement.( see worksheet)

Conversions using volume:

5 ml = L

  10 cm = L

 15 L = ml
