On June 8th, 2012; MCH and the De-

partment of Medical Education and its

GME Programs proudly celebrated

the graduation of the Class of 2012.

Fifteen Subspecialty Fellows, Two

Chief Residents, Twenty Two Pedi-

atric Residents, and Seven Psychol-

ogy Interns were awarded their di-

plomas. The event was attended by

faculty, peers, friends, and families.

After an introduction by Dr. Rani Ger-

eige, Director of Medical Education,

and a warm welcome from Dr. Deise

Granado-Villar, CMO, Senior VP of

Medical and Academic Affairs, AAP

President Elect; Dr. Thomas K.

McInerny, MD delivered the Keynote

Address.

The individual program directors

proudly presented the diplomas to the

graduates.

Dr. Maria Behnam-Terneus was

chosen by her peers to deliver the

Graduate Address.

The commencement ceremony

ended with a congratulation from

Dr. Anselmo Cepero, President of

the Medical Staff followed by a wel-

come into the MCH Alumni Associa-

tion from Dr. Mayra Capote. The

evening ended with dinner and

dance at the Biltmore Hotel.

On June 15th, 2012; the

MCH Department of Medi-

cal Education in Collabora-

tion with the MCH Re-

search Institute held the

Fourth Annual Residents’

Research Day. Thirty one

abstracts were submitted by

Pediatric and Dental Resi-

dents and Fellows in two

categories: (1) ORIGINAL

RESEARCH and (2) CASE

REPORT. All abstracts were

presented as a poster. Ab-

stracts were peer-reviewed

and rated by a review com-

mittee of faculty researchers

and clinicians. The top six

winning abstracts were also

presented as a podium

presentation. The event was

a great success and show-

cased the academic and

scholarly activities of train-

ees and their mentors.

MCH Faculty Claim Again the Championship Title for

the 2012 Annual Residents vs Faculty Softball Game

The 2012 Annual MCH Residents vs Faculty Softball Game and

picnic were held on Saturday May 12, 2012 at the Tropical Park.

In a spirit of camaraderie, fun, and healthy competition, residents

and faculty competed for the winning title.

Where MCH welcomes a new group

of residents and fellows to the MCH

family.

On June 12th, 2012; twenty eight

new Pediatric Interns and Four Dental

Residents started orientation. From

PEDS, to PALS, MCHWay, and

LifeWings training, to meeting new

classmates, new supervisors, and

faculty.

On July 2nd 2012; MCH Department

of Medical Education will welcome its

new fellows for a two day orientation

before starting their clinical work.

Ten MCH Programs Ranked Among the Best in the Nation

Ten MCH pediatric specialty services

are among the best in the nation, ac-

cording to U.S.News & World Report’s

2012-13 “America’s Best Children’s

Hospitals” rankings, which were post-

ed online June 5th 2012. MCH is the only hospital in Florida to have pro-

grams ranked in all 10 pediatric

subspecialty categories evaluated by

the publication. Program rankings are

as follows:
