O P Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706)
Pachelbel was born and died in Nuremberg, Germany. He was educated in Vienna and appointed organist at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. He was a close friend of the Bach family. In 1692 he returned to Nuremberg where he became organist at St. Sebald. Today, he is most remembered for a piece of chamber music called Canon in D Major. However, he wrote an enormous amount of music for the organ.

R M C Every Monday morning, our money counters count the offertory collections from the Saturday and Sunday Masses. They start at 6:30 am and finish about 10:30 am. Historically, our counters stick with this ministry over many years. One of our counters started with this ministry in 1996, the year of the Atlanta Olympics. The work is not too difficult, but it does require an attention to detail. Previous experience in bookkeeping is not required. Also, there is an Archdiocese background check required for those serving in this ministry. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity to serve, please contact Rob Berling at [email protected]

Do you like to sing? Are you looking for a way to participate more fully in the liturgy? Are you looking for
a group to join for fellowship within the parish?
Join the Sacred Heart Principal Choir! The choir provides the music for the 10am Mass. There is no audition, you’re not required to solo or cantor (but
you’re more than welcome if you want to), and you need not be able to read music, so long as you come to
Wednesday night rehearsals - Billy, our wonderful organist and choir director, will teach the music to you.
If you’re interested, join us Wednesdays 7:30-9:15 in the choir loft, or inquire with Billy or any of the cantors or
choir members after Mass.
