Students presenting their findings about why and how a particular celebration is celebrated
Students Celebrating ‘Wing Women’s Day’
Grade 2 has enjoyed and celebrated their way through their current Unit of Inquiry - CELEBRA-
TIONS!
As part of their Summative Assessment, they had to create and plan a new reason to celebrate. Af-ter much thought they decided to celebrate 'WING WOMEN'S DAY' - A celebration to acknowledge and thank the 'Aunties' who help them every day in school, right from breakfast, lunch, taking them to the washroom, photocopying worksheets, taking care of their small and big needs during the time they spend here. They are such an integral part of school life so grade 2 made it special for them by inviting the management and staff and expressed their love and gratitude for their 'Aunties' in a heartfelt way. It was a perfect display action taken by students, and a great end to a fun Unit.
Math
Students experimenting with Beads Students making equal copies of the beads - figuring out the concept of multi-plication
The basic idea of multiplication is repeated addi-
tion, which means the multiplication of two num-
bers is equivalent to adding it multiple times. The
students of Grade 2 are experimenting with the
concept of repeated addition using beads. Students
tried to find the connection between addition and
multiplication practically so that they understand
the concept better.
English
Students working in groups jotting down points
Students discussing during their Thinking Hat Activity
“De Bono's’ Thinking Hats activity was used by
Grade 2 .
The activity was used effectively in the English class-room to encourage students to use English in a creative way in developing speaking skills and to think out of the box away from their comfort zone. This activity helped the students to focus on brain
storming , discussions and debate.
Learners first worked with members of their own group, wearing the same colour hat, developing their role further by brainstorming words and ex-pressions. Then they presented their discussions with other hat groups; after which debates and

Fieldtrip to a vegetable farm Trip to “More” supermarket
Vegetables are grown in the farm and not in the
supermarket shelves!
Grade 1 has been learning about how food reaches our table. The field trip to the supermarket, farm and radish washing shed has been a learning expe-rience for our first graders as it enhanced their learning and provided them with an enriching expe-rience of how food is grown. They enjoyed collect-ing the vegetables and were amazed to see how the vegetables are loaded to reach the wholesale mar-
ket.
Watching the process of how the radish are washed in the machine was the highlight of the field trip. Our visit to the “More” supermarket gave them an opportunity to view various food items and also to see the different packaging material
used to pack the food.
Math
Our Tuck Shop Buy, Buy and Buy
Yes ... Math can be fun!
“Look at our tuck shop ... we have different food
products. Yes! We are integrating Math in our units
of inquiry “Farm to Table”.
“We used money to buy the food products from
the shop. We learnt how to add and subtract mon-
ey. We also recorded the amount spent at the tuck
shop by making a bill”. It was fun to use the fake
currency notes to buy the food products.
“We waited for our turn to buy things from the
shop!”

Students using Fake money
Shop Role Play
The topic studied was transportation. Children identi-fied and sorted out vehicles under various modes of transport for e.g.. airways, waterways and road ways. For identification of vehicles, children did a role play of toy shop where they used fake money to buy the toys
by naming it, thus also learning to identify Money.
They also explored people associated with various transport while learning about the safety precautions followed by each kind of vehicle. Post learning about vehicles, they also reflected on why we need transport, and depicted their understanding that vehi-cles or transport are not only used to travel but also used to carry goods, animals, or sick people. They looked at what are the good things about the current means of transport and also few ill effects like air & noise pollution and heavy traffic. Few children demon-strated ways to reduce these ill effects by talking
about car pooling and growing more trees.
Math
Students making a Pictograph to show how many girls and boys in class
Student exploring full & empty.
Grade K 2 was involved in an activity to learn
about Pictograph, Bar graph and also Time. They
counted the girls and boys in the class and drew
themselves in a chart to show pictorial representa-
tion. Same way for Bar graph, they counted differ-
ent kinds of trees in the campus and then repre-
sented them through a Bar graph. Children also
learnt about the concepts of full, half, empty, nearly
empty or full by pouring coloured water through
various measuring jars. They leant how to make 10
with different number combination using geomet-
rical materials
English
Student reading a comprehension pas-sage to the class.
Sample activity to learn adjectives
Adjectives were introduced in the class. Students
were asked to draw a Noun of their choice and add
a few adjectives to it. Students illustrated and learnt
Adjectives in a fun way. Some children have started
to read comprehension passages with fluency and
are reflecting on what they read. After reading,
activities are also conducted to show their under-
standing of the passages. Other students are contin-
uing to strengthen their phonological knowledge as

Students displaying their individual
plant containers with the germinated seeds
Students were helped to dig up a gar-
den patch of their own. They planted seeds and watered the patch daily.
Children of Grade K1 were excited to grow indi-
vidual plants for their Unit on The Plant Kingdom.
After learning that plants need the vital conditions
of adequate sunshine, air, water and healthy soil
they were awestruck to do the germination activity
in class where they watched little plants grow out
of seeds .
They also made a plant patch for their grade in the
school campus by planting mustard, coriander,
moong dal seeds and understood the responsibility
of watering their ‘little garden’ regularly.
Math
Students engaged in number se-quencing activities. They filled in missing numbers in a sequence.
Students building a tower in order of size starting with the largest cube using stack of blocks
Students got hands on experience to learn number
sequencing when they arranged numbers from 1-
20. They strengthened their learning on numbers
that come Before and After.
Arranging the Pink Tower gave them a sense of
delight as they placed the pink coloured blocks
from Big to Small. Stacking the cubes encourages
visual discrimination, coordination, and precision.
Thus students are preparing themselves for under-
standing different Math concepts in a meaningful
way
English
Students participating in a Show and Tell activity in the class by talking about their Favourite Toy.
Students of K1 have started to blend sounds to form 2 and 3 letter words to develop their Reading Skills
Grade K1 students are beginning to strengthen their oral conversation skills which include both Listening and Speaking. They had fun being involved in Show and Tell activities in class when they brought their favourite toys and spoke about them
to their peers.
After gaining phonic knowledge of the first three Jolly Phonics groups, they are now blending sounds to form simple words to enable themselves to read. They are also participating in the Read Aloud Program with their parents by taking home a book from the school library and are able to differentiate

Sports Events on Children’s Day

Students of Grade K1 were involved in different
sports activities during the Children’s Day celebra-
tions held in school. They had fun participating in
various races. The happy kids cheered for their
friends as well. It was a truly memorable day in-
deed!
Development of Fine Motor Skills
Students engrossed in a Buttoning Activity using Buttoning frames of different
types.
Children were involved in several activities to
develop their fine motor skills, like buttoning
frames etc. The children worked with full concen-
tration to complete the task of inserting the but-
ton. These activities will help them to develop self-
management and self care skills.
Field Trip to a Nursery
Students enjoying themselves on a field trip to a Nursery for their ongoing Unit of Inquiry on The Plant Kingdom
Children of K1 went out on a Field Trip for their
Unit based on the Plant Kingdom. They visited a
Nursery near their school and loved exploring and
finding out about different plants, different shapes
of leaves, flowers etc. They enjoyed this experience
