The golf shop has different fun formats weekly. It’s a great way to start the week- end. After golf, stay and have dinner on the patio or in the dining room with other golf- ers. Or just come out and have dinner if you can’t play golf! If you do decide to play, call the golf shop before noon on Friday, and they will pair you with another couple. If you are new to the game, come play with your spouse and another couple in a fun event that is fairly non-competitive. It’s another great way to find other friends with which to play golf. I’ve seen several couples who have met at a Friday Couples event and have continued playing together at other times. Though Twin Lakes is careful not to call ourselves a “social club,” Friday nights at Twin Lakes provide an atmosphere of camaraderie among our mem- bers. There are still many events in which you can participate. Don’t forget: The annual Activity Fee you pay allows partici- pation to all club events and pays back out in golf shop mer- chandise (to be redeemed by the end of October). When you want to use your golf shop credit, please inform the golf shop at the time of your purchase. From the Manager
A s the first full month of summer begins, the golf
course remains in great condition. Greens, tees and
fairways are as thick and healthy as they have ever
been at this time of year. The great playing conditions are a
result of the work done over the past few seasons. We have
methodically improved rootzone conditions with aerification
and other cultural practices to achieve the results we are seeing
this season. A big part of our success stems from a great group
of guys that com-
prise the mainte-
nance staff. The
continuity of em-
ployees over the
past few years has
aided in great play-
ing conditions.
Thanks go out to Ron Summitt, Josh Blazier, David Wood,
Mike Mars, Bob Halford, Patrick Westermeier, and Christo-
pher Land for all their hard work this season.
This month may bring high temperatures that will require
cooling of the leaf surface during the day. On these days, we
will do our best to not interfere with your round of golf, but
when temperatures climb into the 90’s, it is imperative to lower
the surface temperature of the turf with a cooling mist from our
irrigation system. We will also be hand watering areas that can
not be efficiently watered with our in-ground system.
DDDDIDIDIDID YOUYOUYOUYOU KNOWKNOWKNOWKNOW????: Golf courses have
a cooling effect during hot summer
months. The average temperature
on the golf course is typically 5-7
degrees cooler than a residential area
and 7-15 degrees cooler than an ur-
ban downtown setting.
I hope this reaches you in good health and spirits. Sum-
mer is officially here; hopefully, the great golf weather
will continue. Please get out to take advantage of the
golf course. It is in great shape, so please come out to enjoy
your club!
Make sure to check the golf calendar, there are lots of fun
events this month for everyone to enjoy. A few of the events
this month are: Men’s Member/Member, Ladies Friends’
Day; also junior golf and couples golf continues this month.
If you have not been able to come out on a Friday night for
golf or dinner, please try to experience one.
We will not be serving dinner this Friday, July 4 due to the
holiday. Dinners will resume on Friday, July 11. Prime rib
will be served every Friday along with a fish or chicken
through the rest of season. I hope you can attend the Friday
dinners and enjoy a great meal.
I would like to welcome all the new members and thank
their sponsors. If you see a new face, please introduce your-
self. It is our goal for everyone to experience a warm wel-
come to Twin Lakes. Since we have been fortunate to keep
our membership stable and have a successful membership
drive, this year we have a very minimal dues increase (less
than 2%). It is Twin Lakes’ continued goal to provide its
members with an excellent golf course and club operations at
the best value in the area. I wish everyone a happy and safe
4th of July!

Irrigate when needed. Turf requires 1 1/2—2
inches of moisture each week. If you have
an irrigation system, calibrate it so you know
how much water is applied. Check course conditions daily by visiting

From the Pro
event. We were greeted with great weather for the Mens Quota
with Steeplechase. It was an all-Resler event in the Steeple-
chase with Mark Resler and Rick Alexander taking on Ben
Resler and Dave Cremeans to the final hole. The Ben Resler
and Dave Cremeans team was victorious in the end.
Please continue to try and get your Ol’Buddy matches in by
the deadline. We have a Bridgstone Ball Fitting on Friday July
18th from 9-2 pm on the Twin Lakes Driving Range. For more
details ask the golf shop. We look forward to seeing you at the
course over the next couple weeks!!

Golf Shop Happenings
T he month of June was full of severe weather and a
