“Wait, aren’t there elections coming up?”
Well, yes! But since we are not fully functioning as a
club due to Covid, the Not-Bored of Directors decided
unanimously to postpone the 2021 elections until the
September social. This will give us time, hopefully, to
get back to what passes for “normal” around here.
Having said that, we are hoping to see new faces
getting involved in our efforts. We welcome new ideas
and suggestions, and if you think with your help we
could do things better, then we want to hear from
YOU!

The “Not-Bored” of Directors meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. If you have any ideas that you would like the board to look
into, please contact any Board Member with your thoughts.
W hat do my dues actually pay for?” I’ve been asked. Well, in a normal year, your dues pay operating costs for the club, as
well as our annual Toys for Tots holiday toy drive and banquet. But what else? Your dues also mean you are a member of our parent organization, Parrot Heads in Paradise. PHiP does a lot more than just put on Meeting of the Minds. Access to club seats at Jimmy Buffett’s concerts...a subscription to the Tradewind Times, the quarterly newsletter from PHiP...discounts on merchandise, opportunities to win some faaaabulous prizes and even score a scholarship for your Keet! It pays to be a Parrot Head! Check them out at phip.com. Well? Have you signed up for our 25th Birthday Bash?? Why the heck not? It’ll once again be held at the Magnuson Marina Cove Resort from May 14-16, 2021. Registration form on the next page, or click on this link to register. Room rate is $99.99 for registered PHriends. The Magnuson is taking reservations, but you will need to be fully registered (i.e., paid) for the birthday bash before the special rate, or any specific room request, can be guaranteed to you. We need to block specific rooms for mixologists and board members. HELP US stock the liquor locker for one of our many fundraisers we’ll be holding during the weekend. Please donate a bottle or two of liquor ($15 value+), the more unusual the better. Dropoff locations are: The Habitat in West Bradenton, Compass Self-Storage on University and 301, and Tina Harwood’s house in South Sarasota. Contact any board member to get directions! We are still not planning live events right now, due to the alarming Covid numbers. The next possible event we do will be in March, and stay tuned, because you’re going to LOVE it! As always, your safety is the priority. Hang in there and we will be together again soon! PHins up! Mary McClure—President

escapism themed albums, Live Like Jimmy Buffett. He’s since won 22
Trop Rock Music Association and People’s Choice awards for his music,
including Entertainer of the Year three years’ running.
He’s now on tour full time, living in a Winnebago with his wife
Michelle, playing everything from solo house concerts to large festival
shows with his band the Dock Rockers, combining Trop Rock with all
his earlier blues, rock, country and R&B influences.
Donny continues to write and
record new material while on
the road, and now hosts events,
trips and festivals, including the
annual Karavan To The Keys and
Mexico Meltdown, and that
doesn’t include all the cruises
and trips on which he joins
other Trop Rockers.
The Dock Rockers will be performing on Saturday night in the banquet
hall from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. Donny will be our Guest Auctioneer as

“JOHNNY DOO” ~ BASS Raised on the blues and rock scene of Austin, Texas, Johnny Doo learned to
love live music in classic venues. Though living in the heart of Texas, young
Johnny was more inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and
Stevie Ray Vaughn than by the country crooners. Life took Johnny to New
Braunfels, Texas, where he added the upright "doghouse" bass to his arsenal
of instruments. He also came to love country music, discovering that
slappin' western doghouse bass gets you plenty of gigs in Texas. It was at a
country show that he met TRMA award winners Thom Shepherd and Coley
McCabe. Impressed by his animated on-stage antics, they immediately
asked him to join their band and introduced him to Trop Rock by way of
Texas country. .. . .
In addition to being the longest running player in Thom and Coley's Twang
Thang Band, Johnny Doo also joined Donny Brewer's Dock Rockers, winning the TRMA Band of the
Year 2019 and 2020. Being ever impressed by the Southern Drawl Band, he was honored to play with
Mike Nash when he formed the new Southern Drawl Band in 2019. Johnny also takes the stage
when called by The Godfather of Trop Rock, Jerry Diaz and Hanna's Reef.
JOHN PATTI ~ PERCUSSION/STEEL PAN Originating from Baltimore, John Patti ‘s
musical journey at age three, and he
continued to learn percussion through
elementary and middle school music
programs. By ten, he came across his
first set of steel pans and quickly started
experimenting with the instrument and
teaching himself by ear. By age 11, John
was publicly performing across the state
of Maryland and into the Mid-Atlantic
region for special events.
Over the years, John’s popularity has
grown across the nation for his unique take on the steel pan. John’s expressively smooth sound
elevates the steel pan from its perceived impression as just an island instrument to one of versatility
across many musical genres. Rock, jazz, blues, country, funk and even classical are all rejuvenated
when John combines them with the tropical sound. Throughout his career, John has had the
privilege to collaborate, record and share stages with artists such as steel drum masters Robert
Greenidge, Ray Holman and Andy Narell, guitar innovator and legend Les Paul, country star Jerry
Jeff Walker, Grammy nominated singer Nadirah Shakoor, Michael Utley and CMA finalist for
“Instrumentalist of the Year” Doyle Grisham. Whether in a solo performance or collaboration with
bands, John’s intriguing stories and skillful performance leaves long lasting and memorable
impressions with any audience.
John will be entertaining us at Pool Side on Friday solo and along with John Frinzi as well as
joining the Dock Rockers on Saturday night for the headline show. Our 25th Anniversary
Birthday Bash is a full 2 ½ days of music and PHun. Don’t miss Friday at the pool or Friday night
with Rudy Cox and Jumpin’ Fences.

DANNY ROSADO—GUITAR/BACKING VOCALS
Born and raised in the heart of the Tennessee Valley, Danny
Rosado is a Trop Rock and Americana singer / songwriter from
Huntsville, AL. As a US Navy veteran Danny has developed a deep
love and respect for the sea, and his songs reflect that.
Inspired by the musical sounds up and down the Florida/Alabama
Coast, Danny first began to play guitar in 1996, after many a late
night at the Florabama. Local legends such as Rusty McHugh and
Mike Fincher, Jay Hawkins, Jezebel’s Chillin’ and the Southwind
band were major influences during his formative years.
Danny has been fortunate enough to play in several bands over
the years both as the lead singer and front man, but is also an accomplished vocal harmony singer.
Danny is equally at home as a solo entertainer, playing his original music and wide variety of covers.
He has performed on couches, in historic cities, sailing ships, tiki bars, and for American troops
abroad, but these days you will most likely find him “couch surfing” from his home base in small
town Georgia, USA.
Danny will be performing Saturday poolside solo and with the Dock Rockers on Saturday night.
If you have not yet registered for the event, scheduled for May 14, 15 and 16, 2021, you
may do so by going to SBPHC.org. Registration is only $65 per person, and once
registered, you can take advantage of great room rates at the beautiful Magnuson

MARDI GRAS: FUN-FUELED VACATION INNOVATION When carnival launched its first ship, 1972's TSS Mardi Gras, we made cruising a lot less stuffy, a bit less fancy, the kind of fun everybody could enjoy. Nobody expected this ship to change the cruise world, but… here we are! This year carnival is launching a brand-new ship with a familiar name. You guessed it: Mardi Gras™. They aren't just pay-ing homage to their first ship — in cruising circles this name suggests innovation, signals the start of something big. Oh, and this new Mardi Gras shouts “fun!” at the top of its lungs. This ship introduces Zones — six themed are-as packed with brand-new experiences for eating, drinking and spectacularly getting down to fun. There's BOLT™, the first-ever rollercoaster at sea, Emeril's Bistro 1396™ from yes-that-Emeril, Family Feud™ Live for everybody... plus incredible new bars like The Brass Magnolia and Fortune Teller.
