From Your President… by Mary Sanders

Hey, Society members, I am taking the month of August off from writing my columns. Please

note, however, that several of our members have recently lost loved ones; remember to give

friends and family around you a hug. I hope I'll see all of you at the Dulcimer Celebration! on

August 25th. Please come out and support us as we carry out our educational mission though

this Celebration!, a day of incredible performers and workshops, with an amazing array of

evening performances by Tull Glazener and Molly McCormack, and Ted Yoder.

Upcoming Workshops

Our September meeting will include a Harmonica Workshop conducted by George Heavilin. George requests that you bring your own harmonica to the workshop. If you are interested in purchasing (or borrowing) a harmonica he recommends a Hohner Bluesband “C” as a good instrument to start with. George is preparing some handout sheets; be prepared to take a few notes as well.

In October Larry Wayt will reprise his Jamming 101 workshop. Originally Larry's workshop was scheduled as part of the Eagle Creek Festival but weather conditions discouraged participation. We are lucky to have a second opportunity.

Another workshop that was canceled because of weather at Eagle Creek was Myra Dworski's Fiddle Technique workshop. Myra has offered to lead a workshop at the November meeting.
