Greetings, October was a really fun month as we concluded with our fall festival and Chil-dren’s Carnival. Everything turned out very well. Congratulations to those who participated in the various contests and received acclamations in the Chili, Soup, & Pie Cook-off. The Children’s Carnival was great! I definitely think the kids all left with enough candy to hold them over until Christmas. Lol. November is the month that really begins the holiday season. It is the most intense month of prepara-tion for Christmas and all of our various mission emphases. The Chorale is well on track in their prepa-ration for the Christmas musical scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd. Be sure to read David Robin-son’s article about this year’s presentation. We will have our Parade of Flags in both services December 3rd. That will also launch our Week of Prayer for International Missions. There is now a sign-up sheet in the foyer for those who would like to participate in this year’s Living Christmas Nativity. We will be needing over a hundred and fifty volunteers, so please signup early. As you will see, there are quite a few different positions and needs that we will need to fill to make it all happen: actors, builders of props, setup crews, take down crews, seamstresses, food preparers, and care-takers of animals which will include everything from camels to donkeys, and sheep. Call Jeannie Campbell if you have any questions.

Thanksgiving Dinner: On Tuesday night, November 21st, we will be having our Annual Thanksgiving Supper out at the high school commons area. As the church provides the turkeys, tableware, and drinks, we need you to do your part by bringing covered dishes of food which we will join together with everyone else to make for one of the best meals our church enjoys throughout the year. It is typically the high-est attended fellowship we have with over two hundred people joining together.

On November 15th we will be having our Annual Church Business Meeting in the Worship Center. During this meeting we will vote on next year’s budget, vote on all of our new workers and leaders, hear reports from all of our major committees and ministries, and share in a special time of dealing with the business of the church. Don’t forget, we need everything published for that night to be turned into the church office by November 8th. Happy Anniversary October 30th: We have now officially completed our first year in the New Worship Center. It has been a fabulous year of worshiping these past twelve months in our “new” facility averag-ing 426 people, and we wish to thank God for allowing us this wonderful building. The year has gone well with two services every Sunday, and the building itself has caused us very few problems either in our transition into it or in its weekly use. Everyone this year who has visited us has commented upon how nice of a worship center we have. We can only thank God for this blessing! So, after this our first year, we hereby decree that the word “New” be discontinued and that we simply refer to it is as our Worship Center. Pathfinders Breakfast: Hey seniors! November 4th, we will be having breakfast together at Country Kitchen at 8:00 a.m. Transportation will not be provided unless individually requested, so we will just see you there on Saturday. Blessings ahead, Pastor Randy

Dear Prayer Support, Another month of ministry is ahead of us and we appreciate your prayers for us. Second City Chuch (our church plant in the city center) is continually meeting each week. This semester we are discussing the theme of “Supercharged: The Surprising Power of Life with Christ”. Please pray with us for new people to con-tinue to come and for us to learn how we can live daily with Christ’s power in us. Second City is also launching a new mid-week group called City Groups. We will be sharing a meal together and then looking at Gospel-centered lives each Thursday. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other better and look deeper into God’s Word. Please pray for us each Thursday, noon Missouri time, 6:00 England time. Stillwaters is hosting a Thanksgiving Family Quiz Night fundraiser on November 25. This will be a time for people to come, participate in a fun, pub-style quiz, and raise money for Stillwaters. Please pray for people to come and hear about the work of Stillwaters.

The girls are doing well in school. It is midway through their term and they are already counting down the days until Christmas break—like many in Warrensburg, I’m sure! Thanks for your continued prayers for us. It you do not currently receive our family email newsletter, please let us know at [email protected] and we will be happy to add you to the list. Much love, Terry, Sheila, Kennedy, and Caelyn Wilbanks

The Christmas Chorale presentation is becoming more real every week. The selection of solo parts, special ensemble parts, and drama parts are complete as the excitement continues to build for our presentation of “What Child Is This?” the weekend of December 2-3. This project requires a time and effort commitment from everyone involved, and you might be inclined to ask, “Is it worth it??” One way to formulate an answer to the question, “Is it worth it??”, would be to think in man’s perspective and explore the values of those involved in the presentation as well as those viewing the presentation. We all have values. We also show how much we value each of them by how much time, effort, and money we put into them. Following this train of thought, the questions I would encourage each of us to answer are these: Do the things that fill up my calendar reflect what I value most? Is my whole heart in the things that fill up my calendar? Do my financial commitments reflect what I value most? If we can answer yes to the three questions above, then the answer to, “Is it worth it??”, is YES!! We value evangelism, we put our whole hearts into the preparation of the presentation, and we support it with paid staff and budgeted resources. Yet another way to formulate an answer to the question, “Is it worth it??”, would be to try and think in terms of God’s perspective. What does God value? He showed us what he values in the ten commandments and then was asked in Matthew 22:36 (NIV)… 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

To further try and attain God’s perspective, we can look at the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” No matter whether we’re answering, “Is it worth it??” with man’s or God’s perspective, I think GPBC is on track to answer a resounding YES!! Our mission statement, “To Know Christ and Make Him Known” is the driving force behind all of our time commitments, passion, and budgeting. I encourage each of you to not only attend the Chorale presentation, “What Child Is This?”, but for you to invite at least one person to attend with you for at least one of the three performances (Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7pm or Sunday, Dec. 3 at 3pm or 7pm). Make plans now and display your perspective and priorities. In His Service, - David

Christmas Chorale: As part of our fall line up, rehearsals for our Christmas Chorale presentation

are every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Call Dave Robinson for more information or just come join us. Along with the actual Chorale,

we will also be needing many volunteers to serve in various capacities including decorating, stage management, actors, soloists, narrators, food preparation, costumes, etc.

We have edited our “Park” logo to include our mission which is to encourage parents by challenging students to know Christ, to own their walk with Christ and to make Christ known. Allow me to explain how the arrows that have been added to the design embody this. KNOW: As you look at the letter ‘P’, the arrow which points downward, reflects that God has made Himself suffi-ciently known to us through creation, our conscience, Christ and the Scriptures. Second, the upward pointing ar-row reflects that we can know God personally by turning from ourselves or each other as our final authority and instead entrust ourselves to Christ alone as the personal authority, father, and king of our lives. OWN: As you look at the letter ‘a’, you see four arrows. These four arrows all begin with the letter ‘T’. We are called to take ownership of our faith through the time that God has given us, the talents He has provided for us to spend for His glory, the treasures that God financially gives us, and the technology that God has entrusted to us to use for our growth and His glory. KNOWN: As you look at the letter ‘K’, you see four more arrows. These four arrows all begin with the letter ‘F’. First, we are called by God to make Christ known in our families, this means aiming to honor our parents/grandparents, to pray for our family, and to point them to Christ in all situations. Second, we are called by God to make Christ known with our friends. To truly love our friends is to point them to Christ in every context. Third, we are called by God to make Christ known in the fellowship of our local church. Christians are designed by God to be united to a local church family and under the care of local pastors who will give an account for watching over their souls. The local church is bigger than us, we are people from different backgrounds and generations brought together through the blood of Jesus and we gather together for His glory. Fourth, we are called by God to make Christ known to the farthest people from God. From our school campus to a people group in another country, God calls us to make Christ known to people that are far from Him.

The Gift of New Life

What a journey these past seven months have been for Sarah & I. By God’s grace Uriah is chubby, strong and loved beyond measure. I have been asked a number of times what my favorite part of being father is. To be honest, I think one of the most fascinating and joy-inspiring scenes is when older

people get to experience him. To see the smile, the laugh and the general non-verbal’s light up on our older Parkies is priceless. Of course, Uriah isn’t the first baby to bring joy to a grandparent or someone in their fifties and up, but this is the first time I have really been up close and personal to seeing this happen so often. What is it about babies that brings joy to all generations, particularly the oldest generations? In a word, hope. Ba-bies bring hope. New life brings hope. There is hope that a legacy will continue on. There is hope that things can improve. There is almost an ignorant peace within a baby that many have long forgotten as they have endured hardships. New life brings a revitalizing joy to an older person, an older church, and an older Sunday School class. New life is messy, if you don’t believe me I have a few diapers and bibs you are welcome to examine. Despite the mess, new life brings energy and therein hope. If you are reading this newsletter, and you have not been active in Sunday morning worship, I want to ask you to consider committing in the month of November to prioritize gathering together with the local church in worship every Sunday. The writer of Hebrews in 10:24-25 alludes to the encouragement that your presence brings as a believer to the rest of the church, the teachers, and the pastors by prioritizing worship in the local church, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” If you are already active in attending our worship services at 9:00am or 10:30am then pray for the boldness to invite someone to join you. If you are not currently attending and connected to a Sunday School class at 7:45am, 9:00am, or 10:30am, you have the opportunity this very Sunday to encourage a teacher and class members you may have never shared a conversation with in a way you cannot imagine! If you are connected to a worship service and a class perhaps this will be the month you approach and bless one of our ministry directors like Melissa Plummer in the Nursery, Michelle Dumas in our preschool department, or Shelly Cantwell and Roger Dumas in the Children’s department about your desire to encourage them by serving with and under them in some way. If new life brings hope, joy, and messy energy then your choosing to not step out and invest in one of these opportunities is in a way a choice to not bring them those three things by your very presence. Why my beloved fellow believer would you not want to give a gift as sweet as that and spur on your fellow Parkies toward love and good deeds. Finally, if you are a Sunday School teacher or leader, you will not want to miss our short but valuable Life Workshop training in the Family Life Center on November 14th from 6:30-7:45. Together in Christ, - Pastor Brent

Shout out to the Grandparents:

Thanksgiving Thanks:

Grandpa, Grandma, Papas, Memas, ect.

I am so excited when I see grandchildren

with their grandparents at church. Props

for showing them that God is important!!

In Genesis 18:19 it says, "For I have chosen

him, so that he will direct his children and his

household after him to keep the way of the

LORD by doing what is right and just..." God

is talking about Abraham and his children

(God's people). It speaks of how Abraham

will teach and direct the people to reach

for God. In a similar way it is important

that you do the same for your grandchil-

dren. Showing them how to reach for

God's love. We love your grandchildren!!

Thank you for sharing them.

November is a time of thanksgiving.

Take the time to ask your preschooler

what they're thankful for. At this age

their answers are so pure and funny. An-

other activity to take time to do with your

preschooler is pray throughout the day

thanking God for everything around you.

In 1 Thess. 5:16-18 it tells us to "Rejoice

always. Pray without ceasing. In all cir-

cumstances give thanks, for this is the

will of God for you in Christ Jesus."

“Go therefore and make Disciples of all the Nations.” - Matthew 28:19

Operation Christmas Child collects and sends shoeboxes filled with gifts to children around the world. Each one of these shoebox gifts is an opportunity for the gospel to

be shared. Information is on the table in the foyer along with boxes. This year the cost of sending a box is $9:00, place the money inside the box or you can pay online per the instructions on the , How to Pack your Shoebox Gift” form on the table also. If indeed you would rather send a plastic shoebox they are available at Dollar Tree,

WalMart or Hobby Lobby. These boxes are used for many days or months after they receive them. They use them to secure their possessions in. Most recipients do not

have furniture with drawers in which to store things and these boxes meet many needs. Collection Day for Grover Park is November 12th. It would be so great if we could send 200+ boxes this year?

We will again be helping with Community Connect on November 10th. This is an outreach to all

folks in the area that need service or a connection. Hours are 9:00 - 3:00 and is held at UCM’S Stu-dent Recreation and Wellness Center. Transportation will be provided from the Multipurpose Park-

ing lot. For more information log on to www.ProjectCommunityConnect.org. You will need your IDs, Social Security Card, and Birth Certificate. Veterans please take your DD214.

November 11 is our first ever “Woman’s Day”. It will be held in the Family Life Cen-ter starting at 9:00 and ending at 2:00. Cost is $10.00 with lunch and child care includ-

ed. The speakers and worship music will be soul satisfying. Registration forms are available at the church or from Tammy. This is going to be a great day of fellowship

and is open to all women of the community, invite your friends.

December 2, Live Nativity on the Courthouse lawn. Time will be from 10:00 to 2:00. We need characters and strong arms to help load the small shed on the pickup and unload at the Courthouse. If you can help please contact, Jeannie

Campbell 238-6501. Then the following weekend will be the Gift to the Commu-nity from Grover Park. If you haven't been part of Grover’s Live Nativity now is

your chance. We need all to participate in this “Living Nativity Gift to the Com-munity.” Dates this year are December 8 and 9th. We set-up scenes etc. the day before, December 7th. If indeed you have a strong back and a willing spirit we can sure use your help. We start set-up at 9:00 and hopefully finish middle part of afternoon depending on how much help we have. Lunch and

snacks are provided. If you have questions please give Dan Eckert a call at 238-4943.
