The Automatic Transmission Core component of a city bus’s driveline
1. Automatic transmission as standard component of a city bus driveline and interface to data collection
2. ECU controls the entire operation of the transmission and collects operating data
3. Voith Service engineers read out data, analyze data and if necessary diagnose faults
4. Experts analyze operating data regarding fuel consumption, driveline layout as well as service and maintenance

Project Overview DoT Abu DhabiDriver Training
Goal:
Fuel consumption reduction by more economic driving behaviorFramework conditions:
• 6 vehicles with Voith DIWA transmission
• 5 different routes
• 12 drivers (assigned to same bus/route and split into 2 shifts)
• 3 weeks period (1 week detailed evaluation of actual situation, 1 day driver training, 2 weeks monitoring on the road by Voith trainer and DIWA SmartNet)
Summary of results - DoT Abu DhabiI-Services Driver Training
• On average, the fuel consumption of the monitored vehicles has dropped by 8.4 l/100 km per bus
• This equals to a fuel savings potential of more than € 1.25m/year
• Approximately the same amount can be saved on maintenance and wearing parts like brakes and tires
• Also the risk of accidents can be reduced due to more careful driving behavior (not quantifiable)
