The poem was presented to two classes of different age groups in order to work on it from different perspectives.Group 1 – the eighth graders – identified common symbols and meanings.

The second group, fifth graders, worked on common characters and the relationship between them. The aim of the activity:- Read and understand part of a poem in

English;- Correlate characters between the

Romanian and the English version;- Revise vocabulary – family members;- Family tree – follow up activity

Follow up activityThe students were asked to listen to the Greek version of the poem, just to “sense the emotion” and compare it to the “feeling” of the Romanian one.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6pMclm0CRc

Conclusions Students found the poem a bit too long, nonetheless, interesting.The eighth graders understood it because they were able to correlate it with some Romanian themes and motifs.The fifth graders enjoyed the follow up activities and worked on the puzzles thoroughly.
