This year we have once again celebrated excellent academic results with on average 70% of students gaining top grades (A* - C) in GCSE English and mathematics. There are some truly outstanding individual successes and it will be a pleasure to be able to recognise these achievements at our Outstanding Achievements Awards Evening next week. Karate Success Year 8 student Ellis Homer has

been representing his country on a national and international

stage with Young Gloves Karate and as part of the England

Squad for the World Kickboxing & Karate Union.

Ellis added to his trophy cabinet winning two more medals

fighting in the Under 14’s and Under 16’s at

the British Open Championships on 3 and 4 September. At the European Championships

he was selected for the World Championships & the 2nd round of the

European Championships.

Good luck Ellis from everyone at SHS.

We welcomed students into Year 7 on

Monday representing the school in their smart new uniforms. They are

settling in well, finding their way around the school site and adjusting

to their new timetables.

Year 11 students posed for

photographs in the school grounds in their new cardigans

as they prepare for the final

year of their GCSEs.

University life after A Level success We are proud of our VIth Form A Level students as they have all

packed up the contents of their bedrooms and headed off to start the next stage of their education at their chosen universities.

The BTEC results were impressive with almost 70% of all BTEC entries being awarded a Distinction or Distinction*.

We wish them all the very best with their courses and future careers.

Teacher Training

Stourport SCITT, the School Centred Initial

Teacher Training centre based at Stourport High School, has recruited a record

number of trainee teachers this year.

30 trainee teachers, secondary and

primary, have started their first placements

within our partner schools this week and will return to us in 2 weeks time for their

training block.

We would like to welcome all SCITT

trainees and wish them every success as they embark on their training year.

Duke of Edinburgh Twenty one students are

embarking on the Duke of

Edinburgh Scheme Bronze Award

assessment expedition to the

Malvern Hills on 12 and 13

September. The aim of this expedition is

to use all the skills that students have

learnt during the year so far. Students will

be remotely supervised during their walk,

which means that staff will meet them at

certain check points over the 16km hike.
