Chris Andrews (center) contributed to the industry panel on the connected cockpit

The hourlong discussion navigated the industry’s acceptance and automaker’s status of consolidated system architectures and domaincontrollers, such as Visteon’s SmartCore™. The panel debated the hurdles facing the automotive industry in implementing domaincontrollers, how future cockpits will be affected and how user expectations will evolve over time with added vehicle automation. The keydiscussion points evolved around the total cost of ownership for the consumer and the savings and risks for the automaker.

Other presentations at the event from prominent figures within the automotive sphere included talks on software safety and securitydesign considerations for autonomous cars, the impact of increasing imaging demands on autonomous vehicles and overcomingcomplexity with connected system thinking.
