If you’re reading this, you already have a connection to RSVP: maybe you’re a donor, volunteer or in an organization who partners with RSVP. Have you thought about how else you can support RSVP? Volunteer at RSVP! Why? Have Fun! Meet new people! Volunteering
offers a vital experience of putting down roots and being a part of something larger than ourselves.
Do it for your health! Studies show those who volunteer actually have improved health.
Build your resume! Volunteering for a non-profit organization looks great on your resume!
Here are a few ways to get involved at any age (no experience necessary, training provided): Board Member: A Board Member is
responsible for the oversight of the organization giving direction and advice. It is their responsibility to ensure the organization fulfills its mission.
Committee Member: Choose from three committees: Fundraising & Development, Marketing, and Volunteer Relations. These committees assure financial strength and build capacity through fundraising events and other methods; develop, implement and evaluate the marketing strategies used to promote our mission and projects to build better awareness in the community; and increase and strengthen volunteers by evaluating, developing and implementing recruitment, retention and recognition strategies and events.
Office Volunteer: Answer incoming calls, make outgoing calls, input data on the computer, and mail out letters.
We need YOU!

Is Your Home Ready for Winter? by Ruth McCrea, Handyman Manager
As the weather begins to cool and thoughts of
snow creep in, what will you need to keep your
home safe and warm? The RSVP Handyman
Project can help you with your weatherization
needs, such as plastic-wrapping windows,
weather-stripping exterior doors, swapping out
storm windows, and more.
It is important to plan ahead. Our Handyman
volunteers schedule their own time and do not
respond to emergencies. Contacting us two to
three weeks in advance will ensure you are
ready for winter.
Remember, we do not do any type of yard
work and can do limited plumbing and
electrical. Also, we do not work on roofs, fix
gutters or go underneath homes. Even with
these limitations, there are many jobs we can
do.
The Handyman Project provides minor home
repairs and modifications to limited-income
seniors over 55 and to people with disabilities
of any age. Our volunteers provide the labor,
and clients pay for the materials. These
services are available to those who income-
qualify. Income levels are based on number of
people living in the home and total household
income. If you are not sure you qualify, just
give us a call. We will happily screen you for
Handyman help.
Call 243-9839 or go online to

volunteer opportunities.

MEDICARE FRAUD ALERT DO NOT confuse the Medicare enrollment
with the Marketplace Exchange policies. It is
against the law to sell a Marketplace plan to
individuals already on Medicare. SHIP
volunteers can appropriately report any
suspected fraud or abuse. Just call RSVP and
say, “I want to report Medicare fraud,” and
we’ll take it from there.
Senior Scholar and Read with a Child
volunteers shared their thoughts and ideas
at the September 8th meeting. Quarterly
meetings are held to support tutors in
their interactions with their students. Join
us for the next meeting on Friday,
November 6th from 9-10 am at RSVP,
422 White Avenue, Lower Level. (NO
school for elementary schools that day).
We will review different learning styles of
children to reinforce skills needed for
students’ success.

The Community Food Bank feeds the hungry in
Mesa County and they need your help! A three-
day emergency box of food is provided to
individuals and families in need. They are
looking for volunteers who would like to help in
the warehouse packing food boxes; lifting is
required. Volunteers are also needed to
interview and complete paperwork with their
clients. Good customer service and computer
skills are a must for this position. The
Community Food Bank is currently located
downtown; however, they are searching for a
new location. Please contact the RSVP
