SWOC ANALYSIS
43
SWOC ANALYSIS
STRENGTH
There is a very good demand for seats for B.A English Literature
(124 applications for the first batch, 330 applications for the
second)
We have got 100% results for our first two batches
5 members of the department have put in more than 20
years of experience.
WEAKNESS
Even though we have secured cent percent result we
are yet to find a place in the rank list.
44
SWOC ANALYSIS
OPPORTUNITIES
Students of English have good scope for job as Teachers, Journalists,
Proof Readers, Front Office Assistants, Translators and Call Centre
Executives.
There is a large scope to train all sorts of students in Speaking and
Writing English language without errors, and train students in
communicating for better career placement.
CHALLENGES
Most of the students of all classes, especially B.A., English are from
the rural back drop and from Tamil medium schools, so making
them to perform well in English poses a great challenge. 45
FUTURE PLAN
We would like to upgrade our department to the PG and
then to the research level.
We would like to increase the number of one day work
shops and lecture programmes and also hold a State
Level and National Conference.
Coaching classes for the competitive examinations such as
UPSC, TNPSC, TRB, SLET and NET.
