I am thankful to everyone who participated in our Maccabee Market event. The volunteers were top notch. The committee was amazing. Fred Memar and his Magician friend were a great hit, as were the USY performers and of course, who could forget our wonderful belly dancers. Liz Goodman even did a very fun, interactive lesson with the kids and our Rabbi. Thank you also to those people who came to the event and shared the fun with us. This was a new event we tried this year. Our committee for the event will evaluate its success and who knows what next year's Hanukkah program will be, but it's guaranteed to be fun and interesting. Moving forward, we have our Dinner with Friends on January 13th and our Mishloach Manot Event March 1st for Purim. Please let me or any of the Women's League Board Members know if you would like to be on the committee to plan this event. We love working together with people we know as well as new women with new ideas. I would love for you and your family to join us for another fun event and take part in a mitzvah for Purim.

" Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with their family and friends. I wanted to thank everyone who attended either or both of the Paid-up Membership Events. The evening at the Big Horn Olive Oil Company was a huge success. I would like to thank the owners for opening their store for a night of education and socializing. " " " " In addition, I would like to thank Carole Kainen for opening her home for a lovely brunch and also to Lilach Levaton for sharing her experiences in the IDF. Please welcome our newest Womenʼs League members, see below right. Just a reminder Womenʼs League is open to all women; you donʼt have to be a Temple Beth Sholom member to join. I am happy to contact any perspective member. " For membership inquires contact me at [email protected] or 702-838-1020.

Mishpachah, more mishpachah and even more mishpachah! As I write this article, I am reminded that this past Shabbat is the first Shabbat my daughter has spent as a married woman. Yes, last week she became married and I have a new son-in-law…more mishpachah. Along with this new addition, comes his many siblings with spouses and MANY nieces and nephews. My daughter has become a step-mom, step grandmother and I have a three -year old step-great granddaughter. I’m still trying to figure out how I am related to my new extended family and what I should be called by everyone.
In the last addition of the Vision, I shared with you the article I was asked to write for this year’s TF campaign. The idea was to share what “mishpachah” meant to me and its connection with our beautiful TF pin, the "Family Tree". The value of each donation you make to TF increases our opportunity to ensure that there will indeed be a new generation of clergy and lay leaders to guide us, and our mishpachah, as we expand. How would you feel if you were planning a Bar/Bat Mitzvah and there were no rabbis or cantors to help officiate your simcha? Our clergy gets educated somewhere and that somewhere is probably the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC or the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in L.A., both beneficiaries of TF $$.
The family member I referred to in my last article has since been able to marry his 20 year-long partner in a legal ceremony because the state in which he lives has made this the law. More mishpachah. A lot has happened in one month. I am lucky. I bet you are too. Look around… there is someone out there who needs to be noticed, included and embraced. And while you are looking, please remember Torah Fund…we need YOU.
Torah Fund VP: Brenda Katz

We would like to thank everyone who attended, volunteered, or attended and volunteered for The Maccabee Market. Once again we proved that teamwork can help us reach our goals and we can even have quite a bit of fun doing it! Our next project will be Mishloach Manot Mania, so start to think about ordering your hamantashen and/or joining us on Sunday, March 1st to make some. Last year was a fun-filled event and this year promises to top that one, so donʼt miss out!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
TO ALL!
WLTBS Participated in the annual Mitzvah Day at TBS. We were proud to provide the opportunity to collect toiletries from so many generous people. Thanks to all who volunteered that day to fill shoe boxes for the girls participating with the Embracing Project, an organization that provides support to young people who have experienced extreme violence. I went to their holiday party and it was moving to see the girls all there and how, with positive support, they are able to turn their lives around. By Melanie Greenberg
