I am delighted that you have accepted a place at EGA and I look forward to meeting you and your parents once we are in a position to welcome you into the school. I hope that you are excited about joining EGA, knowing that during your time here you will work hard, play hard, make some life-long friends and have so many oppor-tunities both in and out of the class-room.

Everyone is a little nervous about starting a new school and we are working hard to ensure that you can find out more about EGA even though

schools are closed at the moment. Whatever happens, we will do every-thing we can to answer any questions you might have. Although it won’t be possible to offer all the usual opportu-nities for us to get to know each other before you join us, we will be sending you lots more information in the com-ing weeks.

I hope that you will make the very best of your time with us by working to the very highest standards and making the most of all that EGA has to offer.

Carley Stephenson

Assistant Headteacher responsible for Transition

Dear Year 6 students and your families,

As you will all be aware, transition from primary to secon-dary will look a little bit different this year. As mentioned in my welcome video, we are doing all we can to ensure that you feel well prepared to start when school begins.

Some of the ways that we would have got to know you all would be:

Visits to feeder primary schools to meet you all

A face to face admissions interview with you and your families

Cognitive ability tests in May to gather more informa-tion support your learning

A Taster Day for you to experience a day at EGA in July

Met with your primary teachers to find out how you learn best

Sadly many of our previous plans above will not be able to happen under current COVID 19 guidelines. However, I would like to assure you that we will be doing all we can to ensure you are ready for when school starts.

Some of our plans to make that start of EGA successful include:

Virtual admission forms with the option to have a virtual meeting if you need any additional support completing forms or want to meet with a member of the admissions team to discuss starting EGA in more depth

A virtual Taster Day with key information from faculties and the members of our pastoral teams including a virtual tour of the school and video Q&A ses-sions

Virtually working with primary teachers to ensure we have all the informa-tion that we need to support your transition to EGA school

We hope to still be able to run our summer school programme for selected students to support transition. However, we may need to work on how this may happen in relation to COVID 19 guidelines

We also welcome any other suggestions from students and their families for what they feel would help further support their transition to EGA school.

We will continue to communicate via email and our school website. If you have any questions please email: [email protected] and our admissions team will be happy to answer your questions.

I look forward to welcoming you to EGA school in the new school year.
