Vladimir is the part of a popular tourist route “The Golden Ring“. At different times Vladimir was the Motherland for different famous people: princes Andrew Bogolyubski, Vsevlod the Big Nest, Aleksander Nevsky, Russian Metropolitan Alexey, brothers the Taneyevs- the composer and philosopher , brothers the Stoletovs - the physicist and the hero of Shipka , Admiral M.P.Lazarev , writers and poets A.I.Gertsen , I.S.Shmelev, K.D.Balmont. Nowadays a lot of well-known artists, musicians, writers, actors work here.

The Golden Gate The Golden Gate was built during the reign of Prince Andrew Bogolyubski . The gate was the part of the city fortifications. It also performed the function of a triumphal arch . The Golden Gate is the main entrance to a notable part of the city , where mainly princes and boyars settled.

The Demetrius Cathedral The Demetrius Cathedral is one of the most remarkable monuments of Russian Middle Ages, built in 1190s as the great palace temple of Vladimir Prince Vsevlod the Big Nest. The cathedral was built of white limestone by local craftsmen. There are more than a thousand carved stones on the facade of the cathedral.

The Assumption Cathedral One of the greatest

creations of Russian architecture of the XII century, which served as a model for later cathedrals. It was built of white limestone by Prince Andrew Bogolyubski in 1158- 1160 as a domed building with three small porches and towers at the western corners. The height of the cathedral is 32.3 metres.

The Museum of Chamber

It was built in 1785-1790

It is in the heart of the city, between the ancient cathedrals, in the depths

of the old park with a fountain and wonderful

alleys.It is a museum now.
