I’m Mrs. Moreira, OLG East Campus’ Kindergarten teacher!Before we begin, I want to thank you all for being here! I know this pandemic has been hard on all of us, especially these kids but I’m happy we were able to see each other face to face.

I was 17 when I started my career teaching dance. I’ve taught and created choreography for local dance studios and Stony Brook University’s, campus recreation. I’ve worked with students pre-k-5 at a Montessori school for eight years and then went on to teach students grades K-12. I also have experience teaching adult ENL( English as a new language). Teaching is my passion and I wouldn’t want to do anything else!

Tenía 17 años cuando comencé mi carrera enseñando danza. He enseñado y creado coreografías para estudios de danza locales y recreación en el campus de la Universidad de Stony Brook. He trabajado con estudiantes de pre-k-5 en una escuela Montessori durante ocho años y luego pasé a enseñar a los estudiantes los grados K-12. Due to COVID, parents are not allowed in the building. We share the building with religious education students and we can’t have adults in the building with children unless they are teachers or staff. -VIRTUS trained staff

I love celebrating our class birthdays! We will have a birthday celebration on your child’s special day. However, we will not be allowed to have family members come to celebrate in the building. Due to COVID and allergies, we are not permitted to have baked goods sent to the school. If you’d like, you can bring in goodie bags with a non editable treat or a store bought packaged item that is peanut free. Students will not be allowed to open this until they get home. If you’d like to do this, please let me know ahead of time via email or Class Dojo so that I can plan accordingly. The treats can be dropped off the day of the celebration before 12pm.

¡Me encanta celebrar los cumpleaños de nuestra clase! Tendremos una celebración de cumpleaños el día especial de su hijo. Sin embargo, no se nos permitirá que los miembros de la familia vengan a celebrar en el edificio. Debido a COVID y alergias, no se nos permite que envíen productos horneados a la escuela. Si lo desea, puede traer bolsas de regalos con un regalo no editable o un artículo comprado o empaquetado previamente en la tienda que no contenga maní. If your child is taking the bus or is getting picked up and it is the opposite of the norm please send me a note or send me a message on Class Dojo. Otherwise, I am required to put all students on their designated bus.

Aftercare-A form will be sent out monthly to fill out to let us know when your child will stay after school.-Please pickup before 5:30. Parents will be billed frequently late to pick up.

Behavior management: -DOJO POINTS-CLIP CHART-STICKER CHART-I expect all students to use “whole body listening” and keep hands and feet to themselves.

-Please pack a water bottle in your child’s backpack for the day, preferably a reusable one that won’t spill when on its side. We’ve had many spills throughout the day

-Homework will be sent home in their “Take Home” folder. I have labeled these with stickers. The Left side is for work that is meant to be LEFT at home for you to look at and keep, the Right side is for HW or forms that are meant be completed/signed and come RIGHT back to me. -Homework is usually meant to be completed and handed in the next day unless otherwise specified.

**Practice sight words every night.**Read for 15 minutes every night.
