The accelerated development in the field of medical genetics has heralded

a new dawn for advancement of research in a plethora of aspects of medical

genetics like cancer genetics, epigenetics, DNA imprinting, Pharmacogenomics

etc. Hence this year we choose Medical Genetics as the theme for the II National

Conference on Basic Medical Sciences, VINbasix 2012

related to the conference theme.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

� Abstracts are accepted from the following fields –Medical Genetics, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry,

Pathology, Pharmacology and Microbiology.

Faculty members, PG students and Research scholars are requested to submit abstracts for Oral / Poster

presentation.

The work should be original, unpublished and not presented in any other Conference earlier.

Should not exceed 250 words excluding the title, author's name and affiliations.

Should be with Microsoft word 2003, Times New Roman with font size 12. Title should be in bold

capitals with font size 14.

Underline the presenting author's name and mention the name of the Institution.

Should include the following headings – Title, background, aims, materials and methods, results & conclusion.

The selection of presentation as oral or poster will be decided by the scientific committee and will be intimated

to the participants.

The last date for receipt of the abstract is 15.02.2012.

The best oral and poster presentation are entitled for prizes.

The abstract should be sent by e-mail and CD with hard copy (in triplicate) by post to the conference secretariat.

The maximum size of the poster should be 4 feet x 3 feet.

Poster should be fixed half an hour before the presentation.

Presenting author should be present throughout the poster session for any discussion.

� Time allowed for oral presentation is 8 minutes with an additional 2 minutes for discussion.

LCD Projectors will be provided in the halls. Presentation should be brought in CD or pen drive compatible with

Windows 2003 office. Please carry a back up in case the CD is not readable.

The presentation should be submitted for preview and organization, three hours prior to the presentation.

About Salem

Salem is surrounded by an amphitheatre of hills, the Shevaroys. Salem is also known as the Steel City and is one of

the major producers of traditional silver anklets & silk. It boasts of large textile, steel, automotive, poultry and sago

industries. Salem is well connected by road, rail & air. It is a major transit point for Bangalore (200 km), Coimbatore (160

km) and Chennai (330 km).

Salem is blessed with Yercaud , a lovely hill resort that is known for its tranquility , serenity which is located 30

kilometers from the heart of the city. Tharamangalam Kailasanathar Temple is the ancient relic of the Gatti Mudhali

dynasty of the seventeenth century located about 15 km from the city. Kandashramam located on a hillock, is famous for

the temples dedicated to Goddess Ashtadasa Bhuja Mahalakshmi and Lord Murugan. 1008 Linga Temple is a modern and

spectacular temple in Ariyanoor constructed by the Honorable President of Vinayaka Mission's University,

Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram.

The other attractions include Namakkal's world famous Anjaneyar temple, Infant Jesus Church, Thiruchengode

Arthanarishwar temple, Ramar temple, Oothumalai Murugan temple,

Kolli Hills and Mettur dam spanning across the river Cauvery.
