01 INTRODUCCIÓNINTRODUCTION
3
Since 2002 we have been pla-ying in Europe and this undou-
btedly reflects the progress the club has made in recent years. Having enjoyed the premiere of Europa League two seasons ago, the team caught on a spectacular campaign in the same competition last year, reaching the semifinals and being eliminated by the tour-nament champion.
Despite being a small town of just 50,000 inhabitants, our rapid rise has already seen us reach the semi-finals of the UEFA cup, the semi and quarter finals
of the Champions League and, three seasons ago we finished as runners-up in the most powerful league in the world, breaking the ‘two-horse race’ normally enjoyed by Real Madrid and Barcelona. Endeavour, hard work and humili-ty, with which we seek to continue to grow, are now bearing fruit and for this reason we do not wish to limit our ambitions.
The success has been achieved as a result of the collaboration of everyone: players, staff, coaches, director and fans. I want to thank all those people who have always
accompanied us. This season we will be competing again in a continental competition and we hope to maintain the high level of performance that we achieved in previous years. Our ambitions are to reach the top, but always on a basis of hard work and humility. Our unfinished business is to win a title, but we should never let our desire to do this become an ob-session. As always we hope that Yellow fans will join us on our jour-ney. We must continue on these lines. We are on the right road.

El Madrigal is where Villarreal plays its home games. The
stadium has occupied the same site at the Labrador Plaza since its opening in 1923. Parallel to the Mediterranean, which lies five ki-
lometres away, El Madrigal is lo-cated 50 metres below sea level with a current capacity of 24.890, an average gate of 18.000 and a pitch that measures 105 x 68 metres.
INAUGURATION
The stadium was inaugurated on June 17, 1923 under the name
of “Campo del Villarreal” befo-re becoming known, as it still is today, as “El Madrigal” two years later. The name refers to the rural area on which the Sports area was built.
The ground was officially opened with a match between CD Cas-tellon and Cervantes, two teams from the province’s capital.

The Madrigal underwent its first extension at the end of the sea-son in the summer of 1952. The pitch was remodelled to the same dimensions as that used in that year’s Olympic Games held in Hel-sinki which increased the playing area from the previous 95 x 50m to 104 x 65m.
In the 60s a small grandstand was built before the 71/72 season saw the first construction of the South End. On July 19, 1988 the gallery was demolished to make way for a new grandstand that was officially opened on March 8, 1989 with a friendly against Atletico Madrid.
The next major renovations came 75 years after the club’s original founding leaving the club much as it is today. On May 22, 1998 the old South End was demolished and work began on a new Tribu-ne section, the Preference seating stand and the North End. The la-test alterations came just two sea-sons ago with the construction of a visitors stand, located just above the North End that allows up to 3000 away supporters to watch the match in peaceful, safe su-rroundings. For home fans that want that something extra when supporting their team the club provide the Yellow Boxes and Blue Boxes where supporters can en-
joy climate control, closed circuit television with simultaneous trans-mission of the game and catering services, providing a luxurious experience for the fans.
FIRST FLOODLIGHTS
The first floodlight installation came in 1973 to permit games to be played in the late afternoon. The town council placed four pylons each with nine spotlights on each corner of the stadium. They were inaugurated on Sept-ember 17, 1973 with a Third Divi-sion match against SD Ibiza which culminated in 0-1 defeat for the home side.
19
INSTALACIONESFACILITIES02
THE LOCATION OF THE CHANGING ROOMS
There have been no fewer than four locations for the team’s chan-ging rooms since the stadium’s
opening in 1923. Unti l the 1935/36 season, the changing rooms were located on the south east corner of the pitch. From then until 1960 they were situated on the north east section before
being moved to the south west to coincide with the opening of the new grandstand in 1989, before finally moving to their present lo-cation under the tribune section of the stadium.

Villarreal CF’s facilities go far beyond those enjoyed at the
Madrigal. The Sport’s City boasts six artificial turf pitches (two of which were changed this year),
and three natural grass playing surfaces in addition to the two buildings which houses the head-quarters and the offices of one of Europe’s finest ‘engine rooms’.
Not surprisingly the Sports City is one of the best example of its type in Europe and the frenetic activity that occurs on a daily basis is a constant reminder of the work, both sporting and social that goes on at the facility.
With an area of 70,000 square metres and nine football pitches, the Sports City is the place of work, not just for the first team, but also for all those who make up all ranks of the club.
The Sports City has three 11 a side floodlit pitches all laid with natural grass, one for first team training, with the other two being used by the reserves, one for tra-ining, the other for playing their matches. There are in addition two 11 a side pitches with artifi-cialsurfaces measuring 90 x 60 m and 100 x 65 m respectively both floodlit and both with the ability to convert into two seven a side pla-ying areas of 60 x 35 where grass root matches can be played both day and night.

The Sports City also has a social structure. On the first floor can

be found the changing rooms, the medical area, fitness room, gymnasium, massage room and the offices of the technical team.
On the second floor is located the cafeteria with outdoor terrace overlooking the playing areas, a kitchen and a hall of residence. The hall, which also extends to the third floor is home to around 90 youngsters, aged between 14 and 18, from Spain and worldwide hoping to make their way in pro-fessional football at Villarreal.
The young people at the Resi-dence receive a specialised edu-cation, studying at the Mircalcamp Academy next to the Sports City. It is here that the 90 youngsters in the charge of Villarreal CF study as well as practise football.
Also noteworthy is the El Gol ca-feteria at the Madrigal located on the corner and the perfect place to watch live all matches contes-ted by Villarreal away from home.
Finally fans can also enjoy the res-taurant the The Madrigal, the En-trelineas, one of the most attracti-
ve facilities of the whole Madrigal complex. Classically and tastefully decorated with historical pictures of Villarreal and vintage lamps, the location offers superb comfort and excellent service for those interes-ted in hiring it for occasions such as christenings, first communions, business dinners, product tastings and all manner of business pre-sentations and celebrations.
MINI STADIUM CAPACITY IN-CREASED TO 5.000
The Mini Stadium is located in the Sports City. A stadium with a

capacity of 5,000, it is where Villa-rreal has played its home games since playing in Second Division B. After promotion to the second tier of Spanish football the mini stadium was renovated in the summer of 2009, with a view to
extending its capacity. A new North End was built and an ex-tra three rows of preference seats were added to accommodate more fans. The central tribune are was also altered slightly with padded seats for the improved
comfort of those Villarreal fans, who for just 75 euros extra on their season ticket could watch the second division A from a pri-vileged position.

Villarreal’s growth isn’t limited to the sporting area. In fact, the
Submarine has built a new office building, located next to the first team’s training pitch, that will hou-se the Yellow management and operations office. Everything has
its place in this large, modern and functional building, from Marke-ting, Protocol or Communications departments to the Technical area and Board offices. The building also houses a cafeteria, for the enjoyment of the Yellow fans, and
a travel agency. The residence building, where the offices and cafeteria were formerly located, is now dedicated entirely to the sporting area so that players from the Youth Academy have more privacy.

For its return to the Champions League, Villarreal has strengthe-
ned three key areas of its game: the goal, the defense and mid-field. Regarding the first area, the Submarine has opted for César Sánchez, an institution of Spa-nish football having played over 400 games already.
The Cacerés born player, to whom years seem to have stopped pas-sing by, arrives to Villarreal to con-tribute with his vast experience in both the Liga and continental competitions. After a spectacular season last year, César joins the Submarine with the motivation
to continue growing as a player, despite the fact that he will be turning 40 very soon. With his quick reflexes and fantastic “one on one” skills, he is also a natural leader on the field who knows how to manage his defense effectively. With an outstanding résumé (two Ligas, two Supercups, Champions League and an Intercontinental cup), César will look for a place in Villarreal’s goal as the perfect companion to Diego López.
Cristian Zapata is the chosen man to strengthen the Yellow rear. With a bright future ahead of him, the Colombian defender has a great
physical power and outstanding speed. Although his natural po-sition is central defender, Zapata is much more versatile: he can comfortably develop as a right back. Fully adapted to European football after his six seasons at Udinese and being team captain from 2005-2011, his exceptional conditions have also earned him a spot on the Colombian national team.
The third piece is Madrid’s native midfielder Javier Camuñas who has been specifically requested by coach Juan Carlos Garrido to give a greater versatility to the
30
PLANTILLASQUAD03
team. He comes from Osasuna and he is an all-around attacker who can play in midfield or in the wing, where he can exploit his speed and verticality. Camuñas is a constant threat to rival defen-ses due to his continuous moves in between the opposing lines. Furthermore, he has a great mid-distance shot on the goal. Among his virtues he also counts on his hard-earned experience, playing for teams like Recreativo de Huel-va or Xerez.

All these happened with nine newcomers from the second team that, along the rest of the squad, performed an spectacular campaign. Despi-te the Submarine’s defeat in the first game against Real Sociedad (1-0), the team had a great start with five straight victories (Espan-yol, Levante, Deportivo, Málaga and Racing Santander), ending the first round of games in third

quarterfinals against Sevilla, which eventually left the Yellows out of the competition. The days pas-sed and Villarreal was still alive in Europe and keeping Champions League positions in La Liga. With tired legs but full of morale, the Submarine defeated two tough rivals like Real Sociedad and Es-panyol (2-1 and 0-1 respectively), but the final stretch was still mis-sing. The “Castellonenses” had to face the biggest teams and, more importantly, their direct rivals for taking part in the best continental competition. Fully tucked into the fight, the Yellows played two hard rounds against Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, with two great victories.
However, one of the turning points was the visit to San Ma-més. Although the Yellows had nine points over Athletic de Bil-bao, they still had to deal with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Valencia on the second round of games. A victory was vital. Said and done, Juan Carlos Garrido’s men had no mercy and in a bri-lliant defensive game they were able to defeat the Basque team by 0-1. The Champions League was getting closer and wins over Geta-fe and Zaragoza allowed Villarreal to manage its advantage keeping the fourth place and focusing on the Europa League, in which only the champion could beat the club from Castellón.

A UN PASO DE LA GLORIA
JUST ONE STEP FROM GLORY
Villarreal was left at the gates of its first European final after a
string of excellent performances in the Europa League, with only eventual champions Porto able to see off the Yellows’ challenge in the semi-finals. A poor second half display in the first leg at the Do Dragao led to a 5-1 defeat, lea-ving the Yellows with too much to
do in the second leg which ended in a 3-2 victory at the Madrigal.
After cruising through the preli-minary round with 5-0, 1-2 vic-tories against Dnper Mogilev of Belarus, the Yellows finished top of Group D where it had been drawn against Bruges from Bel-gium, Croatia’s, Dinamo Zagreb
and PAOK of Greece. The first match saw the Yellows go down 2-0 at Dinamo Zagreb, only for them to bounce back with back to back home wins against Bruges (2-1) and PAOK (1-0). In the re-turn fixture in Greece the Yellows went down again but secured a place in the knock-out stages with a convincing 3-0 win against Di-

namo at the Madrigal. And in the last match, Villarreal clinched top spot with a 1-2 victory in Belgium against Bruges.
In order to reach the semi final stages of the Europa League, Villa-rreal had to see off the challenge of three strong European rivals, namely, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Twente. The Italian side was the first to lock horns with Garrido’s men, drawing 0-0 at the San Paolo before going down 2-1 at the Madrigal. Although second in the Italian League at the time and causing a stir throughout Europe, the Italian’s iron defense was breached twice with goals from Nilmar and Rossi at the Ma-drigal in front of the Yellows’ fans.
Now in the last 16 of the competi-tion, Villarreal now found itself up against Bayer Leverkusen, also curiously enough in second place in one of Europe’s strongest lea-gues, the Bundesliga. The away leg in Germany saw the Subma-rine come from behind twice, before securing victory with a last minute goal from Nilmar following a deadly counter attack. An unfor-gettable strike and one that prepa-red the ground for the Yellows to finish the job with a 2-1 victory at the Madrigal that ensured a place in the quarter-finals.
Waiting for them was Eredivisie Dutch league leaders, FC Twen-te. The first leg was played at the Madrigal and could not have gone better for the home side who thumped the visitors 5-1. But the

home side’s joy was marred by a severe injury to Gonzalo Rodri-guez following a brutal c hallenge by Janko in the closing minutes. The second leg saw Garrido’s men win 1-3 on Dutch soil in a match most notable for the performances of many of the products to gra-duate from the Villarreal Academy.
Just one tie from the club’s first major final, but a match that
would see Villarreal come up against FC Porto, the side that would eventually come out as champions. With the domestic league already in the bag, Andre Villas-Boas’ men eventually thum-ped the Yellows 5-1 in the first leg at the Do Dragao stadium. But it was Villarreal that took the lead thanks to a headed goal from Cani, only for the home side to come fighting back and punish a
poor second half display from the Submarine.
Despite having it all to do in the second leg, Villarreal roared on by its fans, went for it from the start and finished up 3-2 winners, sa-ying goodbye to the competition, but leaving it with its head held high.

Our B-team managed to keep its place at the competitive “Liga
Adelante” on the year of its con-solidation at the second highest league in Spanish football. Playing
differently on both rounds of the season, nobody that had seen Vi-llarreal B play at the beginning of the year could have thought that it would struggle until the penul-timate game to keep its place, for the second consecutive season, at Spanish football’s silver league.
The players led by Navarra native Javi Gracia had a great start with an outstanding first round, and even flirted with the impossible promotional positions that give you access to the Spanish “Pri-mera”. Slowly the team began
losing steam. Therefore the club decided to terminate Gracia’s contract as the B-team coach and replace him with José Francisco Molina, looking to reverse the si-tuation of the last couple of ga-mes in the tournament. A victory over Recreativo de Huelva by 2-0 in the penultimate game made it possible and the Mini Submarine celebrated its “Segunda” status for another year.

Wakaso and Mario Gaspar were both great reinforcements coming from the first team. They played many minutes with Villa-rreal, but after ending the “Prime-ra” season they preferred to help the second team. A great gesture.
Despite the ups and downs throughout the season, Villarreal B played some very spectacular games. For example, against di-vision champion Real Betis at the Mini Stadium in the training grounds. This game ended with a victory for the Yellows with a lonely goal by Galicia native Iago Falqué, scored before the fifth minute. Or
the home victory by 2-1 against Granada, that also achieved the dream of the “Primera” promotion at the end of the season.
Special mention to Falqué’s performance, being the second team’s top scorer with 11 goals in 36 games played with the yellow jersey.

One of Villarreal CF’s policies is to give great importance to the lower teams. As has happened to the first team, the Yellow youth teams have been growing by leaps and bounds. All current 45 teams, from the youngest to the B team, have the same training philosophy based in a demanding discipline in order to be able to educate

The Submarine has international players in every age category, who have proven a very high level be-coming champions of many lea-gue titles in their respective age categories.

gory leagues for both football-7 or football-11.
REMARKABLE CAMPAIGN BY VI-LLARREAL C
Villarreal C had a magnificent year despite the enormous difficulties encountered throughout the sea-son. Led by José Molina during the entire campaign, besides managing Villarreal B at the end of the tournament, the C team al-most made the second division B promotional positions among the elite group of teams. They fought for this goal until the last game of the season but couldn’t finally
make it. They finally ranked 6th, a remarkable position for the club’s second youth team.
THE JUVENILE-A, A CHAMPION IN STYLE
Villarreal’s Juvenile-A became Group VII of the Honor Division champion with all the epic pos-sible. The Yellows had no mercy against Alicante during the last game of the season and mana-ged to score a brilliant 6-0, ce-lebrating the title under the wat-chful eye of Villarreal’s President, Fernando Roig. The team led by Juanvi Peinado only needed one
point in order to win the title over Valencia, but won three like only champions do.
RODA REMAINS IN THE ELITE
It didn’t seem like an easy season for CD Roda on its début among the elite on the Honor Division (playing against historic teams like Valencia, Murcia, Hercules or Levante). Villarreal CF’s associate team managed to exceed expec-tations. Despite a turbulent start with Roda struggling to adapt to the division, they finished in sixth place, a remarkable achievement

PRIMERAS DECISIONES: CAMPO, ENTRADAS E INDUMENTARIA

One of the first decisions under-taken by the club directors on 24th April 1923 was to rent the stadium for the price of 60 pe-setas per month (approximately 0.36 Euro). Once the stadium
was acquired ticket prices could be set. It was de ter mi ned that the adult entrance would be 0, 5 pesetas (0,005 Euro), and half price for children. Women would receive free entrance. At the same meeting it was decided to buy the first kit, which would be white shirts and black shorts. These were the first colours of Villarreal C.F. and they remained so un-til1946, when they switched to the current yellow and blue colours.

Four months la-ter, October 21st 1923, Villarreal C.F. team played for the first time in their new stadium. A friendly match against the RED and STAR, from Castellón.
THE TEAM BEGINS TO WALK
The first important date for Villa-rreal C.F. took place during the 1934-1935 season, when Villa-rreal C.F. had the chance to gain promotion to the 2nd Division against Cartagena (at that time the current 2nd Division B and 3rd Division did not exist). Sadly, Villarreal C.F. failed to gain promo-
tion. However a year later Villarreal C.F. came first in the 1st Regional Division Championship, but the unfortunate breakout of the Spa-nish Civil War ended all sporting competitions.
WAR ENDS; FOOTBALL RETURNS
After the end of the Spanish Civil War football returned to El Ma-drigal stadium (named in 1925). Between 1939 and 1950, Villa-rreal C.F. played in the 2nd Re-gional category, which com pri sed of three different groups I, IV, V. At the end of the 1950-1951 season Villarreal C.F. gained pro mo tion
to the 1º Regional category after winning the 2º Regional.
THE 1950’S
Villarreal played in the 1st Regio-nal category from 1952 to 1956. During those seasons the team won the Championship, finished 4th twice and 7th. The success of the last campaign, finishing as Cham pio ns, saw the team promo-ted to the Na tio nal 3rd Division where they remained until the 1960-1961 season whereby after finishing 14th they were relegated.

They rapidly achieved promotion the following year and remained in the National 3rd Division until the end of the decade.
THE 1980’S
Spain was getting ready to host the football World Cup in1982, and during that time, Villarreal

THE 1990’S
The 1990’s began with promotion to the National 2nd Division B. The following year later they finis-hed in second place and for the second consecutive year Villarreal C.F. were promoted, this time to the National 2nd Division A.
The “yellow team” began the 1992-1993 season in the silver division of the Spanish football league from which they would not descend again. Since then, and until they reached their first pro-motion to the elite category, Villa-rreal C.F. occupied the middle to lower part of the table. However, in the 1997-1998 season Villarreal C.F. finished the league in fourth place and entered a play-off with
the chance to gain promotion to the National 1st Division. The opponents were Sociedad Depor-tiva Compostela. The first match was played at El Madrigal and en-ded 0-0 with the return leg at the Multiusos de San Lázaro on 24th May 1998. This historic game en-ded 1-1 with Alberto getting the all important goal. After 65 years Villarreal C.F. were promoted for the first time to the best category. We make it: one team more in ‘Primera División’
A NEW TEAM IN THE ‘LIGA DE LAS ESTRELLAS’
Villarreal C.F. proudly played their first National 1st Division match on 31st August 1998, against the mighty Real Madrid in the world famous Santiago Bernabeu sta-dium. A week later, El Madrigal opened its doors to the Liga de las estrellas with the visit of Cel-
ta de Vigo. During that historical season even though the team had a fantastic start the “yellow team” were relegated to the National 2nd division. However, the stay in se-cond would be short lived.
In the 1999-2000 season they finished in 3rd position and were promoted to the National 1st Di-vision, a place where they remain to this day. Incredibly the following year Villarreal finished an ama-zing 7th. Villarreal C.F. ended the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 sea-sons in 15th place. In the summer of 2003 Villarreal C.F. won their first European trophy beating Hee-renven in the final of the Intertoto Cup.
cesses of this proud club. In the 2003-2004 campaign, Vi lla rreal C.F. ended in 8th position in the Spanish league coming tantalisin-gly close to automatic qualification to European competition.
From strength to strength Villarreal C.F. were improving rapidly and there was a feeling that something special was about to happen. And it really did!! The “Yellow Submari-ne” achieved an historic third po-sition in ‘Liga de las estrellas’ at the end of the 2004/2005 season
finishing with 65 points, behind the giants of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF. This incredible accomplishment was based on a collective team spirit and the phenomenal goal scoring power of Diego Forlán whose 25 goals saw him awarded the prestigious “Pichichi” as the most prolific goal-scorer in the entire football leagues of Europe. That unbe-lievable triumph was rewarded with qualification to the esteemed Champions following year Villa-rreal C.F. finished League, the
most important club competition in world football. Automatic quali-fication was assured after Villarreal C.F. beat the English team Ever-ton. Villarreal C.F. were not in the Champions League just to make up the numbers and qualified for the knock-out stages by finishing top of their group, a group which included the mighty Manchester United. el cómputo global.

NEW EUROPEAN ADVENTURE
Villarreal once again performed with distinction in this its second excursion into the Champions’ League. Having won through to the semi-finals in its debut in the competition the Yellows once again earned the respect of the
European footballing world win-ning through to the quarter finals before finally being eliminated by Arsenal. It was also the ‘Gunners’ that proved to be the scourge of the Yellows in their previous Champions’ League campaign, although defeat could not cast a cloud over a brilliant performan-ce on the European stage. In a difficult group consisting of Man-chester United, Glasgow Celtic and Aalborg Villarreal started its campaign with a well-earned draw at Old Trafford against Cristiano
Ronaldo’s Manchester United in a game that could have gone done in the history books had Guille Franco’s back heel crept into the net instead of hitting the post. Alex Ferguson’s outfit was also unable to win at the Madrigal (0-0) where Celtic went down (1-0) and Aalborg was beaten 6-3 in a goalfest. Away from home the Yellows drew 2-2 on Danish soil before losing 2-0 in Glasgow once they had already qualified for the knock out stages.

The last 16 saw Panathinaikos vi-sit the Madrigal for a first leg tota-lly dominated by Pellegrini’s men but with only an unjust 1-1 draw to take to Greece for the second leg. And it was here in the Athens’ cauldron that the Submarine gua-ranteed its place in the last eight with a 1-2 victory featuring a su-perb strike from Joseba Llorente.
Arsenal came to the Madrigal the visitors for the first leg that finis-hed 1-1 and it was the Londoners who took control with a 3-0 victory in the second leg at the Emirates Stadium. But the defeat could not disguise another great Cham-pions’ League campaign from Vi-llarreal that earned it the respect of the whole of Europe.
THE PRIZE FOR A FINE SEASON
Villarreal proved once again du-ring the 2008-09 season that it has become one of La Liga’s great sides. The Yellow outfit had, once again, to campaign in equal measure on two fronts in the same year, in the BBVA La Liga championship as well as in the

Champions’ League. And as im-portant as the club’s participation in Europe was, at no time could it forget its domestic commitments, a fact proved by a spectacular start to a league campaign that saw Pellegrini’s men undefeated in the first 11 games. The club’s great start saw it go head to head with Barcelona, before the Yellows suffered their first defeat of the season following the visit of Valla-dolid to the Madrigal on Novem-ber 22. From here on it started to demonstrate an average level of consistency, and after a small dip in form, due in no small part to the club’s success in the Champions’ League-the club launched its now customary final push that placed it near the top of La Liga and back in Europe. And all this without the service of two of the pillars of a Villarreal side, Marcos Senna and Santi Cazorla, injured for the final part of the season. Not withstan-

ding this, the team still remained unbeaten for six of the last seven league games, including an im-portant triumph over local rivals Valencia in the penultimate match which guaranteed a fifth place fi-nish and European football for the following season via the Europa League. All this thanks to a total of 65 points, which left it near the top of the First division and just two points short of the fourth pla-ce that would have guaranteed its passport the Champions’ League.
BACK IN EUROPE THANKS TO SEVENTH PLACE FINISH
Villarreal will once again play in Europe thanks to seventh place finish in the league following a superb second half of the cam-paign. Villarreal’s admission to the Europa League comes about
following the rejection of fifth placed finishers, Real Mallorca’s appeal against expulsion from the tournament by UEFA for financial problems. The Yellows have now been invited on merit to take the Islanders place in the competition.
Villarreal’s league campaign did not start well and after seven matches and, following an unjust 2-1 defeat at Xeres, found itself propping up the first division ta-ble. With a side led by Ernesto Valverde combining great perfor-mances like its trouncing of Te-nerife with displays that showed the team at its worst, a change of direction from the board came after 20 league games, following a 0-2 home defeat to Osasuna. The Basque coach was replaced on the bench by home grown re-serve team manager, Juan Carlos
Garrido, a man that knows every aspect and nuance of the Villa-rreal game.
The first victory for the Valenciano came in his second game at the helm with a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao before the home fan enjo-yed vitally important wins against the likes of Sevilla (3-0), Atletico Madrid (2-1) and near neighbours Valencia (2-0). After a fierce stru-ggle Villarreal finished in seventh place just out of the Europa Lea-gue qualification places held by Mallorca in fifth and Getafe, sixth. Key to the final stuttering finish came in games 32 at Getafe and game 36 at Almeria. However it was eventually events off the field and bankruptcy laws that saw Mallorca lose its place in Europe.

lours mostly bought from the club’s online shop.
But it isn’t just the Madrigal shop and online sales that have enjoyed a massive growth, but the club’s official shop at the Salera Com-mercial Centre that has also seen a rise in the number of customers. Normally a leisure and shopping area for tourists, the shop has also become a valuable stop for season ticket holders who might want to purchase shirts, official club pro-ducts, buy match tickets or renew season tickets.
This way the new shop has be-come a valuable facility for those
Villarreal supporters who do not live in Villarreal and can use Sale-ra Commercial Centre as a more convenient location to buy tickets and club merchandise.
Villarreal’s merchandise range has been increased to offer supporters the largest selection of products possible. But it isn’t just sales that have increased but also the diffe-rent range of products on offer, which means that - while the star product remains the official team kit – fans of the Submarine are now able to pick from a variety of colours and styles to match every place and occasion.
A NEW SHOP OPENED IN THE VISITORS’ STAND
In addition to the official club shops at the Madrigal and the Salera Commercial Centre, from the previous season, the fans and visitors to the Madrigal has a new place to purchase Villarreal mer-chandise when a third shop opens in the new section of the North Stand. The shop is oriented, abo-ve all, for supporters of the visitors to the Madrigal, and like the Ma-drigal shop remain open before, during and after every match be it in the league, Champions League or King’s Cup.
