ITINERARY SPECIALLY PREPARED FORTRIP TO KASOL in HIMACAHL PRADESH

07 NIGHTS/ 08 DAYS

Arrive Delhi in the morning.

Welcome to Delhi!!New Delhi- the capital of India, became a state in 1992 under the national capital territory Act. It used to be a full-fledged Union Territory till 1991, when the 69 th amendment of the Constitution

gave it a special status. The amendment declared the Union Territory of Delhi to be formally known as National Capital Territory of Delhi. Under this system of diarchy, the elected Government is given wide powers; except law and order that remain with the central Government. New Delhi is the preferred starting point for the popular Golden Triangle tour that comprises of New Delhi, Agra & Jaipur. Delhi, the city is acclaimed for being the cultural capital of India. Delhi has a strong historical background, owing to the fact that it was ruled over by some of the most powerful emperors in Indian history. This city witnesses an interesting blend of diverse cultures (some even 5000 years old). Delhi has always had a mysterious eternity, the city having witnessed empires rise to glory and fall to ashes. The contemporary Delhi is a culmination of seven cities built by different emperors and the ruins of this ancient city are found even today. In the year 1803AD, the city came under the British rule. In 1911, British shifted their capital from Calcutta to Delhi. It again became the center of all the governing activities. But, the city has the reputation of throwing the one who sits on its throne. It included the British and the current political parties that have had the honor of leading free India.

Day 01 ARRIVE DELHI/ KASOL- By Overnight Car/ Volvo Bus (535Kms & 12Hrs Drive)

Page 2: Village Tour To India

You will be well received on your arrival at the Delhi airport and proceed for full day city tour of Old Delhi & New Delhi.

The city of Delhi can broadly be divided into two parts, Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi was the capital of Delhi’s Muslim rulers notably the Mughals between 17 th & 19th centuries. New Delhi on the other hand is referred to as the IMPERIAL city when the British decided to move their capital from Calcutta in 1911.

Jama Masjid: Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in India where thousands of Muslims offer prayers every day. The mosque was built in 1656 with the flight of stairs and large courtyard, which are marvels of architecture. It has three gateways, four angle towers, and two minarets standing 40 meters high and constructed of alternating vertical strips of red sandstone and white marble. Broad flights of steps lead up to the imposing gateways.

Red Fort: Mughal King Shah Jahan shifted his capital from Agra to Shahjahanabad and laid the foundation of Red Fort, or the Lal Quila, on 16 th April 1639. It took nine years to build this mighty citadel and it got completed on 16 th April 1648. It is said that about one crore rupees, an astronomical sum in those days, was spent on its construction. Half of this sum was spent to build the exotic palaces within the fort. Built of red sandstone, it is octagonal in shape, with two longer sides on the east and west. The perimeter of its strong ramparts is about 2.41 km. Red Fort rises to a height of 33.5 m on the town side and 18 m along the river. A wide moat surrounds the fort, which was originally connected with the river and was always filled with water. The two main gateways, known as Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate (named so, as they face Lahore and Delhi respectively), are three storeys high and are flanked by semi-octagonal towers. They are situated on the centre of the western and southern sides respectively. Raj Ghat: Rajghat is the last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi- the Father of the Nation. The cremation of Mahatma Gandhi took place at Raj Ghat on 31st January 1948. The memorial stone of Mahatma Gandhi placed there is a simple square platform made of black stone, with his last words "Hey Ram" inscribed on it. As homage to the Mahatma, an eternal flame, in a copper urn, keeps on burning there. Enclosing the memorial is a low wall, simple with no ornamentation. 30th January, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated is remembered as Martyr's Day.

Page 3: Village Tour To India

You can go for Lunch at Local Restaurant “Chor Bizarre” in Darya Ganj.

India Gate: India Gate is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Delhi. The impressive colonial architecture of India Gate is a symbol of modern Delhi. The beautiful stone arch was built by the British in honor of Indian soldiers killed in World War I. Here you will also find the 'Amar Jawan Jyoti', which is a permanent flame in honor of the Indian soldiers who died in wars since 1918. Rashtrapati Bhawan: The Rashtrapati Bhawan or The President's House is the official residence of the President of India. The Bhavan has 340 rooms and is spread in an area of about 330 acres. It is a wonderful blend of Mughal and Western architectural styles. The Bhavan comprises of the magnificent Durbar Hall, the Ball Room, the State Dining Room, and private chambers. The Mughal Gardens within the complex are a treat for the eyes and are open to public during certain periods of the year.

Parliament House: To the northwest of Vijay Chowk, this huge circular, colonnaded building comprises three semicircular chambers for the Legislatures and a Central Library crowned by a 27.4m high dome. It is 173m in diameter and covers 2.02 hectares in area, with colonnaded verandahs enclosing the entire circumference. The three semi-circular areas were designed for the Chamber of Princes, the Council of State and the Legislative Assembly. Today they house the chambers of the Lok Sabha (House of the People), Rajya Sabha (Upper House) and the library. A verandah with 144 columns surrounds the three chambers. The boundary wall has blocks of sandstone carved in geometrical patterns that echo the Mughal jalis. Humayun's Tomb: Humayun's wife, Hamida Begum, built this monument in Delhi in the year 1556. The tomb is set on a platform amidst a garden and is believed to have influenced the design of the Taj Mahal. The structure of the tomb is as magnificent as the Taj Mahal in Agra. The splendor of this grand monument becomes

overpowering on entering through the lofty double storied gateway. The fountains with simple yet highly developed engineering skills enhance the beauty of the garden. Qutab Minar: It is the highest tower in India, built in red and buff sandstone. The monument covers an area of 14.32m in diameter at the base and about 2.75m on the top with a height of 72.5m. In 1199 A.D. Qutub-u'd-Din Aibak laid the foundation of

Qutab Minar for the use of Mu'azzin. He built the first storey, later three more storeys were added by his successor and son-in-law, Shamsu'd-Din Iltutmish. The tower symbolizes Islamic rule of the city. The first three storeys are made of red sandstone, the fourth and fifth storey of marble & sandstone.

In the evening, start your journey towards Kasol by Car or Overnight Volvo Bus.

Overnight on Board.

Arrive Kasol in the morning @ 9am.

Kasol is a Beautiful Hill Station in the state of Himachal Pradesh, which is located in Parvati Valley, which is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world.  Kasol is a small village and Parvati River flows through the village. There is a bridge in the village, which divides it in two parts known as Old Kasol and New Kasol. Lots of foreigners can be seen in the streets around this place. A destination bestowed with all of nature's blessings, Kasol is known for its Parvati River, trekking base-camp and Israeli inhabitants. The snow clad Himalayas to verdant landscape and clear blue sky adds a touch of mystery to the place. Nestled in the lap of Parvati valley

alongside the streaming and gurgling Parvati River, this remote village is a blessing for adventure buffs, trekkers and backpackers. With pleasant climate all around the year and low population density, this wonderful place is all set to give you an unforgettable experience. Apart from being a hippie paradise, Kasol is also a haven for great food, albeit little known. Tucked amidst wilderness, in a remote corner of the world, Kasol is flocked by young Israelis. Hence the name Mini Israel. The influence is clearly visible in the Hebrew inscribed sign boards and abundantly available Israeli food.

Page 5: Village Tour To India

(Normal Check in Time is 12 Noon But we will try to give you rooms at earliest possible).

Breakfast at hotel (on direct payment) and rest of the morning at leisure.

Later, you are free to walk around Kasol to enjoy the scenic beauty of this Himalayan hamlet. You can shop, eat or meander through the tiny lanes of the town. ORYou can take a stroll by the Parvati River But please stay away from the River. Parvati River is a pristine and beautiful river. Soak into the purity of the river and its magical sound. Nothing like a nice stroll down a cackling, churning and frothing Parvati river on one side and looming pine trees on the other. Clean white sand and smooth boulders separate the lush green grass from the tumbling blue-green water of the river. Every bend in the river opens up to an exciting vista of pine trees, cliffs and waterfalls. You can sit by the riverside (not very near) for hours doing nothing and you won’t be able to understand how much time actually passed. OR You can visit Manikaran by car, which is just 6Kms from Kasol. I suggest you visit in the morning before checking into your hotel in Kasol.

Manikaran is located in the Parvati Valley along the banks of river Parvati in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. It is at an altitude of 1760mtr and is located about 5Kms from Kasol. This

small town attracts tourists to its hot springs and piligrim centres. Manikaran is a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Sikhs. The Hindus believe that Manu recreated human life in Manikaran after the flood, making it a sacred area. It has many Temples and a Gurudwara. There are temples of Lord Rama, Krishna, and Vishnu. The area is well-known for its natural hot-water springs and its beautiful landscape. Manikaran Sahib is a huge Gurudwara tucked between imposing hills and a fierce Beas. The high point of the Manikaran Sahib is the hot spring located within the premise of the Gurudwara. The devout take a dip here to wash their sins and illnesses away as the spring water is believed to have healing properties. The ‘Langar’ is delicious and wholesome. It is a fact that the rice is cooked in the hot water from the spring. You have to take off your footwear and cover your head in respect before entering the holy Gurudwara. It would be

Page 6: Village Tour To India

wise to carry a convenient piece of clothing to cover your head. Inside the shrine, you can see pictures of Hindu Gods, alongside Jesus and Sikh Guru’s. Everyone is wel come here and all faiths are respected. This is especially touching about Manikaran Sahib.

of snow-covered mountain and deep valleys. During this journey, you can cross 1.5Kms long glacier.

Malana is a quiet village in the remote and isolated Magical Valley. When autumn arrives each year, Malana is enveloped in what was once a hopeful air brought on by the new harvest, as lanky cannabis trees bloom wild in panoramic fields and against scattered houses. Farmers and villagers begin cultivating in late September, rubbing the buds of fully bloomed plants between their palms to extract the brown hashish resin known mystically as Malana’s crème. Malana’s

crème has a notorious legacy in international stoner culture. It has won the Best Hashish title twice, in 1994 and 1996, at High Times magazine’s Cannabis Cup. Marijuanaphiles the world over have since made this region a popular weed-tourist destination, branded in travel and ganja-hunting literature as the exotic and alluring “Malana and the Magic Valley”.

Chalal is a just 3Kms from Kasol and 1hrs casual walk (Trek) from Kasol. The trek starts as one crosses over a hanging and perilously jerking bridge over the Parvati River. On the other side of the bridge the view is blocked by steep stony hills. Chalal is basically a small village near Kasol,

which has benefited from the tourism boom as a lot of resorts, camps and restaurants have cropped up in the entire stretch from Kasol to Chalal. The village still hasn't lost its old mountain village, where people are so pretty and simple charm. Chalal is the hub of the psychedelic parties

in the Parvati Valley. Trance-y music wafts from the diminutive village, and people intent on parties and some smokey peace make Chalal their home for weeks on end. All of these places, although different in their own stead, have one thing in common- the cannabis that is heavily cultivated here, and a love for the same. Malana Cream, a kind of hashish that is cultivated in the Malana village mainly, is one of the most sought after drugs here, and the motivating factor for half the hippies who flock to the valley.
