Announcements

Pastor Brad's office hours for the week of July 5th are Tuesday 9:00-3:00pm and Thursday 10:00-3:00pm.

Search Committee Reminder We need your input. The congregational surveys were distributed at the beginning of June. Did you complete and return yours? There is still time to hand it in to the Search Committee. The collection boxes are still out on the table in the narthex. Don’t forget to mark off your name on the list.

Did you misplace your copy? Additional copies of the forms will be available at the service this Sunday or you may call the church office to have another set mailed to you.

We are hoping to have the best possible response from church members on this survey. The Search Committee will be contacting any members that have not replied by the end of this month to invite them to submit their opinions. It is vital to the work of the committee that we hear from as many members as possible. Thank you for your participation.

Calling All Talent We are looking for people to volunteer to provide the special offerings spot in the service during summer. As you may know, the choir does not meet in the summertime, so it's an opportunity for anyone who has a special talent to share it with the congregation during the service. This can include singing, playing an instrument, solo or group activities, readings, liturgical dancing, or, use your imagination… Contact Donna Pinto at [email protected] or (610) 792-1679 to set something up.

Raise the Roof Volunteers are needed to collect donations for parking at St James during the fireworks on 4th of July. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin in the narthex.

Project Outreach Mission Moment Bill Rinker, President of Project Outreach, will be giving a brief Mission Moment on Sunday, July 19th. Please come out to learn more about Project Outreach's new focus and the many, community services offered.  We will have a basket in the Narthex for monetary donations, as well as our shopping cart for food items.  Thanks for your continued support!

Our summer blood drive with Miller-Keystone will be held Sunday, July 19th from 8 to 12 noon in the Fellowship Hall.

Aug 19 – Rev. Kimberly Knight will present Social Media

The social media workshop helps faith leaders explore the “why on earth should I” and “how on earth do I” of social networking technology.

Social networking for ministry is not about  using the latest new technology for the sake of looking hip or exciting, and it is not the latest seat-filling gimmick. It is about a commitment to extend God’s hospitality – and today’s technology makes it truly easy for anyone to speak up, reach out, and connect.

Workshop participants will explore how to engage, enrich and expand community, as they:

– Learn to identify and hone their purposes for engaging social media;– Begin to develop a social media strategy that fits their individual contexts;– Receive tutorials with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, blogging, xand YouTube;– Explore how to use technology more effectively in worship, education, and xspiritual formation;– Discuss the theological and ecclesiological implications of this age of social xnetworking

As well as the well-known social networks, Knight will explore the critical importance of and tools for the enriching the church’s public website, mass email communication, video, and location sharing.

Kimberly Knight is the Minister of Digital Community with Extravagance UCC and a popular blogger at Patheos.com. She holds an M.Div from Candler School of Theology and a head full of nerdy knowledge from decades of working in the multimedia industry. The merging of her theological training and technology background led her to plant an online progressive Christian congregation where for over five years she led worship, bible study and community events for the digital natives of Second Life. She has served as the online organizer for The Beatitudes Society for two years and as a marketing and social media consultant for The Center for Progressive Renewal. Kimberly also currently serves as the Director of Digital Strategy for a private women’s college in the south. In her own words “I have a long history of back-pew sitting, Wednesday night supper eatin’ and generally trying God’s patience since 1969.”
