1. Curriculum analysis: Calipers used to measure the pieces of work, which is part of the science measurements. Measurements part of the quality system of industrial products like as mechanical and electrical industries ..Product quality consumer-oriented classified according to standard specifications like as shape, dimensions and surface quality.
1.1 General objective of the course :give the trainees the basic skills in measuring dimensions of the manufactured products.
1.2 Behavioral objective :the trainees should be able to: know about different types of measuring. Use the calipers. Read the number from the caliper. Types of calipers. know about different between the types of caliper.
1.In operation the technical checks of conformity the dimensions of the work piece with the design specifications such as shape, dimensions or quality surfaces by conducting measurements on these properties. The quality of industrial products requiring manufacturing mechanical parts with high accuracy exceeding accuracy of the iron ruler, for this precise measurements require the use of more accurate devices such as submitted in Vernier and micrometer.
2.2 There are many kinds of calipers to measure the dimensions of work pieces in workshops :
1. Outside jaws: used to measure external diameter or width of an object2. Inside jaws: used to measure internal diameter of an object3. Depth probe: used to measure depths of an object or a hole4. Main scale: scale marked every mm5. Main scale: scale marked in inches and fractions6. Vernier scale gives interpolated measurements to 0.1 mm or better7. Vernier scale gives interpolated measurements in fractions of an inch8. Retainer: used to block movable part to allow the easy transferring of a
measurement
Two parts :
1- Fixed part: has fixed jaw connect to main scale .the main scale has two way to read it in mm and inch , we use only mm .
2- Movable part: has movable jaw and vernir scale .
2.5 Uses of Vernier caliper and how to Measuring a Workpiece and read the number correctly :
• Remove all burrs from workpiece
• Clean surface to be measured
• Open jaws enough to pass over work
• Close jaws against work and lock right-hand clamp screw
• Turn adjusting screw until jaws just touch work surface
In the opining of lesson I start with show the student different types of measuring tools: steel rule, caliper and micrometer and ask them what these tools for to guess what my subject and I get the answer from the student and I will write it on the white board after that I talk about it and I will ask the student why to use these tool.
In body of lesson I will explain the caliper because it they must tool we use it. And I will show them different kinds of caliper to see that and to know how to develop of this caliper. I will show them how to use in the correct way and explain to them what the different between the kinds of caliper after I ask them about the different.
In body of lesson I explain to the student how to caliper read the number in a correct way and I will make 3- group and let each student works alone and I will give them the work sheet to see if know the way of reading and I will show the student the correct answer by using projector. I want from the group before show them the answer to change his worksheet with other in the seam group, so that why I make the group.
In the body of lesson I will gives to each group one part with different kinds of a caliper's I want from the student measure the part and from each group I will choose one student write the answer on the white board. And see what is the different between these results by asking the students. Students try to find the different between the kinds of caliper.
In the close of lesson I will ask the student to see if the understanding the subject for e.g.
1-how want tall me what is the measuring?
2- What are the different kinds of measuring tools?
3-describe how to use and how to read the number of caliper?
Trainer explains the caliper and names the parts of the caliper.
Trainer explains how to use the caliper in the correct way.
Trainers show to the student different type of caliper and ask them what is the different.
Student listen and focus about how to read, how to use and should be know what is the different between the kinds of caliper.
