Employment Opportunity Senior Credit Adjudicator Fort St John, BC Summary The primary purpose of this position is to assist North Peace Savings & Credit Union in living out our Service Mission, “To build rewarding relationships through a superior service experience,” by delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Credit, the Senior Credit Adjudicator is accountable for credit adjudication in the credit granting processes throughout the organization and ensures all credit activities are in compliance with North Peace Savings and Credit Union’s policies and procedures. This position works closely with branch leaders, commercial and retail sales staff acting as an advisor and business partner to solve complex credit issues and ensure that the credit union's credit risk management goals are met. There is a strong emphasis on the commercial credit portfolio, including the review and evaluation of highly complex commercial credit situations. Summary

Meets all established service goals as measured by the Credit Union. Fosters relationship building through service excellence and product knowledge. Responsible for analyzing commercial and consumer credit requests and making authoritative credit

decisions based on the information available and established policies. Develops, recommends and implements NPSCU’s credit risk strategies, policies, procedures and

practices. Responsible for managing risk in the credit granting processes throughout the organization. Responsible for identifying areas of potential loss or liability and initiating action to minimize exposure

to risk, including recommending appropriate allowances and write-offs. Ensures all lending practices are in compliance with sound business practices, legislation, policies and

procedures. Provides leadership, direction and advice to commercial and retail managers and staff in order to solve

complex and non-standard problems in commercial and consumer lending and risk management. Is a resident expert for all lending products, activities and documentation and provides leaderships,

guidance and training to the business lines.

Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring within the Credit Adjudication Department and to lenders throughout the Credit Union.

Responsible for the regular review of lending limits, audit controls and other credit risk management areas to ensure credit quality.

Recommends lending limits for all sales staff. Responsible to identify and report on incidences of non-compliance. Responsible for large credit decisioning as a member of the Management Credit and Investment

Committee (MCIC) in the absence of the Senior Manager, Credit. (This would require a policy change.) Acts as an ambassador for the Credit Union by being visible in the organization and the community in

support of corporate and community initiatives. Understands, respects, and supports the Credit Union’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. Responsible for creating a respectful environment that stimulates, guides and encourages employees to

realize their maximum potential and encourages professional development. Accountable for maintaining current and relevant knowledge of industry trends, accounting and

regulatory practices, competitor products and strategies.

Other Responsibilities Special projects and duties and as assigned by Senior Manager, Credit. Provides leadership to the department and relief for the Senior Manager, Credit in their absence.

Education and Experience

Post-secondary degree in business or finance. Seven to nine years of senior lending, credit adjudication, or an equivalent combination of education

and experience. In depth experience in commercial credit portfolio, including the review and evaluation of highly

complex commercial credit situations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Credit risk management Detail-oriented, with the ability to identify trends, omissions, and errors within the portfolio and

adjudication process. Knowledge of policies and regulatory environments Research and analysis Work planning and management Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to solve problems creatively Knowledge of credit union philosophies, principles, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures Understanding of credit union operations Effective listening and questioning skills.

Must be computer literate with advanced ability to work with Microsoft Word and Excel. Sound judgment is required when making decisions. Confident, consistent, decisive personality. Analytical and statistical skills as well as an ability to approach problems in a quantitative manner. An in-depth understanding of credit adjudication principles, policy-writing experience, and a proven

track record of responsible adjudication.
