Tuesday 18th November ‐ Press release Atlassian Founder leads $2M investment in to App Developer, SafetyCulture In 2011, SafetyCulture started building a safety audit app on the kitchen table of Luke Anear's house in Townsville. Townsville based SafetyCulture is growing fast, reaching several milestones in the past month, including: ● 10 million safety audits completed in 58 countries with iAuditor ● $2.1M funding round led by Atlassian cofounder, Scott Farquhar. ● Sydney Engineering Office Opening in December ● Appointment of Anton Mazkovoi as VP of Engineering By focusing on the underserviced but important workplace safety market, SafetyCulture was able to gain early traction from the first week iAuditor was released. With no sales people or marketing to date, growth has been viral. CEO, Luke Anear worked as a private investigator, servicing insurance companies. After witnessing the impact of workplace accidents, created SafetyCulture to help workers avoid accidents. This latest round is in addition to $4M currently invested by Commercialisation Australia and Blackbird Ventures in 2013. Anear says, “As a result of our relationship with Scott, we have employed several exAtlassian employees, and our biggest appointment to date is Anton Mazkovoi as VP of Engineering.” Mazkovoi was Atlassian's fourth employee and went to university with Atlassian cofounders, Mike CannonBrookes and Scott Farquhar at University of NSW. The latest investment will see SafetyCulture opening a Sydney engineering office in December, to be led by Mazkovoi and will continue to attract engineers who share the company’s passion for solving global problems with technology. This is an exciting time for global technology solutions and with advisors such as Scott Farquhar guiding their strategy, SafetyCulture is able to scale and build a platform that can serve their global user base.
