In fact the events like elocution and debate are day by day declining, losing its relevance in the wake of mobile technology; this competition has been gaining a good and comprehensive response and success. Since this is a student centric activity, students play a vital role in its organization. Considering the recognition and response of the students from various parts of Maharashtra the competition has been organized with diligence utmost care. The first meeting of the members of organizing committee was held in July, 2021, but due to pandemic situation the competition could not take place as per its schedule. In order to conduct the function systematically and smoothly, committees were formed. The Brochures were printed well in advance for its in time circulation. The organizers took special efforts to finalize the topics of the competition so that the most relevant and burning issues in the present context could be chosen for discussion and deliberation. The following topics were decided: 1. Bhartiya Swatantryacha Amrut Mahotsava 2. Navrashtriya Shaikshanik Dhoran: Sandhi v Avhane 3. Mazya Krushipradhan Deshat Baliraja Tevdha Vivhlatoy! 4. Yatra Naryastu Pujyante… 5. Tantradnanachya Yugat Manuski Ghusmatatey 6. Aatasha ase Nisargala kay Hote?

The Department of English under the aegis of Vidya Bharati GEMS the 7th

State Level

Intercollegiate Elocution Competition was held on 05/03/2022 with the aim to provide a

platform to the student fraternity of the various colleges in the state representing different

universities in Maharashtra. In fact the events like elocution and debate are day by day declining,

The inauguration was held on 05/03/2022 at 9.30 am. Shri Arjun Thosare, Police

Inspector, Crime Branch, Amravati was the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Dr. Ashokji Chavan

Secretary, V B S Mandal was the Guest of honour. Dr R M Patil, the Convener of the

competition and Prof Amit Jaiswal, the Coordinator of GEMS were present for the inaugural

function. Dr. P. S. Yenkar, Principal of the college presided over the function. The inaugural

Ceremony was conducted by Dr. Monali Ghurde. The competition began immediately after the

inauguration. Around 250 students of the college got benefitted by the event. The contestants

were informed about the rules and regulations of the competition. They were free to express

themselves in 03 languages. There were total 27 participants from Mumbai University, SVP

University, Pune, B.C. North Maharashtra University Jalgaon, Kolhapur University, SGB

Amravati University, Amravati, RSTM University,Nagpur This daylong lasting competition was

adjudicated very meticulously by Dr. Umesh Kadu (English), Dr. Anil Pranjale (Marathi) Dr.

Manoj Joshi (Hindi). The event went on without a break and systematically. Lunch and

accommodation were provided to the participants at the venue itself by the college.

The Valedictory function was held at 5.00 p.m. in which the prizes were distributed to the

winners of the competition. Hon’ble Shri. Dr V R Mankar, Joint Director, Technical Education,

Amravati was the Chief Guest, Principal Dr. P.S.Yenkar presided over the function. Ku Shruti

Boraste a student of HPT College, Nashik won the First Prize which comprises of a Rolling

Trophy, sponsored by Department of Physical Education, Vidya Bharati Mahavidyalaya and a

Cash Prize of Rs. 11000/- in the memory of Late. Shivshankar Ramteke, a certificate and a

Memento. The second prize was bagged by Mr. Vishal Kharchawal , Shri Shivaji College,

Nagpur, comprising of a Cash Prize of Rs.7100/- , given in the memory of Late, Smt.

Chandrakala S. Bodkhe, a Certificate with memento. The third prize went to Ku Tashu Thawani,

G S College of Commerce, Wardha, with a Cash Prize of Rs. 3100/- in the memory of Late Smt.

Ratnaprabha D. Wakode, with a Certificate and memento. Whereas the Consolation Prize of Rs.

2100/- sponsored in the memory of Late Prof. B.G. Kadu was won by Mr Santosh Shinde,

Keystone School of Engineering, Pune. Certificates of participation were given away to all the

contestants. Dr. R M Patil, the convener of the competition explained the aims and objectives of

the competition in opening itself. Prof. Shraddha Chaursiya conducted the Prize Distribution

Ceremony of the competition. The Valedictory Function got concluded with vote of thanks.

The Feedback forms were distributed among the participants, their feedback got collected

and analysed. Their remarks were satisfactory about the organization, management, hospitality,

lodging arrangements, etc.

Thus the competition was conducted very successfully. The Department of English and

the organizing committee express its gratitude towards the Vidya Bharati GEMS for guidance

and the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college for their support and co-operation.
