Video provides a rich and lively resource for multimedia

According to Agnew & Kellerman (1997) , video is:

a digital media that shows a sequence of still pictures which produces illusion due to movements of the pictures

Analog video:

• continuous value sets that uses microwaves to produce moving images like what is watch on TV

• it cannot be played on a computer

• when enlarged, it does not influence the video quality

Digital video:

• consists discrete values between 0 and 1

• it is played on a computer and pixel-based

• when enlarged, video quality drops

How to record a video using laptop?

Open the laptop’s video camera program. Click REC button.

There are many online video recording software (need to video camera working on your PC/laptop). E.g. jing, knovio

Importance of video for education Explains abstract concepts. E.g. Understanding volcanoes, understanding nuclear energy.

Shows motion/animation. E.g. Show processes.

Shows the ‘real’ situation. E.g. introducing students to great historians, political figures and famous people who lived centuries ago.

Provides interactions and responses. E.g. Interactive videos (Astro Pendidikan).

Gives affective teaching. E.g. family value – love, religion value – compassion.

Video as flexible teaching medium. E.g. Video on YouTube can be changed anytime when the teacher requires so.
