Board Meeting Notes by PCMC Secretary Kristen Martin

The PCMC Board has been able to meet on March 31 and then again on April 15 by using Ken Martin’s business telephone conference line. On March 31 the purpose was to hear about a Go Fund Me account sponsored by Bowen Scarff Ford to provide snacks and meals to hard working nurses during the Covid19 Pandemic. The goal is to raise $20,000, and the current total raised is 13,111. The Board voted to donate $200 to support local nurses. Club members are encouraged to participate with Bowen Scarff in supporting our health care workers.

On April 15 we held the normally scheduled Board meeting on the conference line. At this point we are still looking forward to our car show in August. The Car Show flyers and posters have arrived, and Showare has confirmed that they are planning on holding the show. The board also voted to purchase window clings with the PCMC logo. We are looking for a source that will give us a good price. We are also looking into purchasing window flags with the PCMC logo. Chris Johnson has submitted the paperwork for the MCA President’s award and has confirmed our car show insurance.

National Mustang Day PlansSince we are still in the midst of the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, a club event for National Mustang Day is still on hold. We hope that once social distancing restrictions are lifted that we’ll be able to plan something for the club.

Ken Martin and John Chudy are hoping to plan a club caravan to drive by local hospitals and nursing homes to thank our nurses and first responders and brighten people’s spirits. A tentative date for the drive is Saturday, May 23rd. More information will be available once plans are finalized.

PCMC’s 33rd Annual All Ford Show & Mustang RoundupPlans are still moving forward cautiously for our car show. We have received the flyers and posters and have distributed some to our current sponsors. Unfortunately, there aren’t any car shows we can go to to pass them out right now, but we’re staying optimistic that car show season won’t be a total bust. Dick Knight is still talking to potential sponsors, and so far our current sponsors and ShoWare are still on board with having the show. The PCMC Board discussed the car show during our April board meeting/teleconference, and there was a concensus that the car show is still far enough away that we will continue to monitor the social distancing guidelines and will wait a while longer before making a decision to proceed or cancel the show. Keep your fingers crossed!

Bowen Scarff Ford Still Raising Funds for Local Covid-19 NursesBowen Scarff is still raising funds to support our local nurses on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic. All proceeds go to food and snacks purchased and delivered by Bowen Scarff directly to the nurses break rooms. Together, we will not only help fuel the nurses, but also let them know we care about them and appreciate their hard work and dedication to helping heal others. Car Cleaning TipsSubmitted by PCMC Member Vickie Willson

Some great tips to keep your car clean and ready for when car show season is finally back again!

• Instead of shelling out all that cash on those pricey car fresheners, just grab any essential oil and place a few drops on a clothespin or sachet in the vent and you have your own little homemade air freshener!

• If you want to keep your vehicle smelling fresh and free of any allergens, make sure you replace your in-cabin air filters, as it could accumulate dust, eventually creating foul odors.

• If you’re trying to achieve that glossy interior finish, some old-fashioned petroleum jelly is here to save the day! Apply some of the jelly to the interior and dashboard of your car and you’ll achieve the same look when using Armor All. The only difference is you’ll be saving some good money! Such a simple but effective little hack!

• Place a few pieces of charcoal under your seat and it will slowly rid your vehicle of those stubborn smells that you thought couldn’t be eliminated. This home remedy is indeed nature’s little toxin absorber. You’re welcome!

• In order to completely get rid of all that unwanted dust accumulation sitting in your car’s air vent slats, just search your home for an old paintbrush, toothbrush, or a can of compressed air.

• If you wish to keep your vehicle’s upholstery speckless and moisturized, make sure you regularly wipe down your leather seats with a solution of linseed oil and vinegar.

• Though we all love bringing our pets along with us, their hair can be pretty tough to remove from the cloth upholstery. Fortunately, to remove the hair quickly, all you have to do is lightly spray those seats with water and rub them with a rubber squeegee. No need to worry about bringing along your furry friends anymore!

• If you have some affected areas in your car from grease or oil, apply cornstarch on the leather and cloth upholstery, let it sit for about ten minutes, and the starch should eventually soak up the stain.

• Got a little blood or some red wine stains in your car? Don’t freak out just yet because with a little application of some club soda, you can easily remove those stains! Just let it sit for a couple of minutes then sponge it up with a towel. Next time, you probably should just pass up on opening a bottle of wine in the car.

• Believe it or not, with a little bit of mayonnaise, you can eliminate those hard-to-remove stains from your vehicle. Yes, mayonnaise! All you have to do is let the mayonnaise sit for five to ten minutes before wiping it off with a clean rag. Make sure you wash it off completely before your car starts to smell like mayonnaise!
