2. Project Background

Vhukoni Education Initiative is an intervention initiative of the Ravele Development Forum

(NPO reg. no. 141-439 NPO); which aims to strengthen the capacity of institutions of

learning and improve quality of education by promoting excellence through learning and

teaching in rural schools; specifically in Mauluma, Divhani, Tswime Park and Mauluma

(Barotta/ Levubu).

The Ravele Development Forum; in collaboration with the Ravele Royal Council, traditional

council, professionals forum and the educational fraternity within our community; have

identified education and social development as key priority areas for rural development goals

to be attained. The collaborative effort of the community stakeholders in rural background

setting dominated by majority of residents living in poverty depicts a strong desire for

change and more chances of improvement in education. Vhukoni Education Initiative

recognises that effective teaching, learning, mentoring, coaching, motivation, psychological

support, resources mobilisation and school management programmes need be implemented

urgently. Hence, a good culture of learning and teaching shall produce quality education and

good results.

Vhukoni Education Initiative is a holistic integrated approach to catalyse the education

intervention efficiently. Since the Ravele (Mauluma) community is rural and previously

disadvantaged; with low enrolment and pass rate in our school; the department subsidy will

also be insufficient. The financial assistance to drive Vhukoni Education Initiative; in its

brilliant approach to assist in teaching and learning performance to reach their synergies; is

therefore required.

Vhukoni Education Initiative will forge a network that serves as a platform for community

to involve itself in the quest to involve in the improvement of quality of education of all

learners and institutions of learning in general. We believe now is the time to unlock the

potential of rural education; to transform the institutions of learning from producing results

to value added approach to education that produce good quality results and enhance the

competitiveness of learners and schools. This initiative will also continue to nurture

collaborations, partnerships and co-operations with relevant stakeholders in the education,

business sector and community.

To constantly improve the quality of education of schools in the rural community.

To provide learners with the highest level of quality early child development care and

learning in rural schools.

To promote culture of learning and teaching in public schools.

To ensure the sustainability of our programmes by providing good management and

resource allocation; including fundraising, results-based activities, plans, timeliness,

attention to detail and service-minded attitudes.

To assist in promoting interest on scarce skills subjects like mathematics and science

among learners and the community in general.

To advocate for a good learning environment through development of proper

infrastructure in our Institution of Learning.

To promote a good working relationship between learners, teachers and parents.

To maintain the highest levels of professionalism and quality through providing

services of Psychologists and Motivational speakers in rural schools
