HPAI OUTBREAK & CONTROL
Rabies in Sarawak Rabies in Taiping, Perak
• DVS Perak received a report on July 13, 2017 from an owner from Kuala Sepetang, Taiping, in connection with a dog that died after 9 days biting his daughter and nephew. Dog carcass was sent to the lab.
• VRI confirmed the case on 15 July 2017.
• DVS Sarawak received reports of human rabies on June 30, 2017.
• DVS conducted investigation, surveillance and sampling.
• Rabies case confirmed in animal on 8 July 2017 by the VRI, Ipoh in a dog from Kg Lebor and a cat from Kg Paon Rimu.
