Make the Sign of the Cross when sprinkled. Remain standing after Father returns to the Altar.

The Celebrant bows down to kiss the Altar-stone containing the Relics:

The master of ceremonies offers a vessal containing incense to the Celebrant, saying:

He blesses the incense, then he incenses the Crucifix, Relics, and Altar.

The Celebrant goes to the Epistle side where he is incensed by the Master of Ceremonies. He turns toward the AltarMissal, makes the sign of the cross and recites both the Introit and the Kýrie, which the Schola had begun singing during

the “Prayers at the Foot of the Altar”.

Bowing slightly, he says:

Humbled in mind and contrite of heart, may we find favor with You, O Lord,

INCENSING OF THE OFFERINGS AT HIGH MASSHe puts three spoonsfull of incense into the Thurible and blesses it:

May the Lord, by the intercession of blessedMichael the Archangel, who stands at the rightside of the altar of incense, and of all His elect,bleass this incense and receive it as a fragranceof sweetness: through Christ our Lord. Amen.

He takes the Thurible from the Master of Ceremonies, and censes the bread and wine:

Incénsum istud a te benedíctum ascéndat adte, Dómine: et descéndat super nosmisericórdia tua.

May this incense, which Thou has blessed, OLord, ascend to Thee, and may Thy mercydescend upon us.

Then the Celebrant incenses the altar, saying Psalm 140. 2-4:

Let my prayer, O Lord, be directed asincense in Thy sight: the lifting up of myhands as an evening sacrifice. Set a watch, OLord, before my mouth, and a door aroundmy lips. Incline not my heart to evil words:to make excuses in sins.

He returns the Thurible to the Master of Ceremonies:

The Celebrant places the Paten under the Host, uncovers the Chalice, makes a genuflection, thentaking the Host, he breaks It in the middle over the Chalice:

Through the same Jesus Christ Thy Son, ourLord, who lives and reigns with Thee in theunity of the Holy Spirit, one God.

He replaces the right half of the broken Host on the Paten, and breaks oT a Particle from theother half. He places that second half also on the Paten; then, holding the Particle in his right

hand over the Chalice, now held in his left, he says:

The Priest makes the Sign of the Cross with the Particle over the Chalice:

He drops the Particle into the Precious Blood in the Chalice:

A Bell sounds thrice: He takes the two pieces of the Sacred Host in his left hand, then, saying verbally theCenturion’s words each time, and striking his breast with his right hand as he does so, he says thrice:

Dómine non sum Dignus, et intra sub tectummeum, sed tantum dic verbo, et sanábituránima tua, (x3)

Lord, I am not worthy that Thou should enterunder my roof, but only say the word, andmy soul shall be healed. (x3)

The bell is rung as he says these words.

Those who wish to communicate go to the altar rails.

Corpus Dómini nostri Iesu Christi custódiatánimam meam in vitam ætérnum.

May the Body of our Lord Jesus Christpreserve my soul unto life everlasting.

.He receives the Sacred Host. After a brief meditation, the celebrant collects any fragments of the Host

that may be on the corporal and brushes them into the Chalice with his fingers, saying:

Quid retríbuam Dómino pro ómnibus quæretríbuit mihi? Cálicem salutáris accípiam, etnomen Dómini invocábo. Laudans invocáboDóminum, et inimícis meis salvus ero.

What shall I render to the Lord for all He hasrendered unto me? I will take the Chalice ofSalvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.Praising, I will call upon the Lord and I shall besaved from my enemies.

Crossing himself with the Chalice he says:

Sanguis Dómini nostri Iesu Christi custódiatánimam meam in vitam ætérnam. Amen.

He receives the Precious Blood.

COMMUNION OF THE FAITHFULThe reception of Holy Communion is a sign that the communicant accepts and believes all that

the Roman Catholic Church holds and teaches.

GENERAL NORMS FOR RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNIONThose who receive should:

1) be baptized Catholics in full communion and in good standing with the Church 2) be in a state of Sanctifying Grace (i.e., not conscious of a mortal sin)

3) have fasted at least one hour before receiving the Sacrament.In the ancient Latin rite celebrated according to the liturgical books of 1962,

the Communicant receives the Sacred Host on the tongue while, if you are able, kneeling.The “Amen” is said by the priest.

With the Ciborium, and turning at the middle of the altar to those who will receive Communion, says:

Ecce Agnus Dei, ecce qui tollit peccatamundi.

Behold the lamb of God, behold Him Whotakes away the sins of the world.

Then the Celebrant says, and the bell rings, three times:

Dómine, non sum dignus, ut intres subtectum meum, sed tantum dic verbo, etsanabitur ánima mea.

Lord. I am not worthy that Thou should enterunder my roof, but say only the word, andme soul will be heard.

The formula used by the Priest distributing Holy Communion is:

Corapus Dómini nostri Iesu Christicustódiat ánimam tuam in vitam ætérnam.

After Communion the Priest returns to the altar and reposes any remaining Hosts in the Tabernacle,after which the Consecration Candle is removed from the altar. He then continues with the ablutions,

during which he purifies the Paten, Ciborium, and Chalice and of course, his hands.. This action is areminder of the Catholic Church’s Jewish origins. specifically the ritual cleansing in and of the Temple.

THE ABLUTIONS

Please sit.

A server pours wine into the Chalice; the Celebrant drinks it and says:

Quod ore súmpsimus, Dómine, pura mentecapiámus: et de múnere temporáli fiat nobisremédium sempitérnum.

Grant, O Lord, that what we have taken withour mouth we may receive with a pure mind;and that from a temporal gift it may becomefor us an eternal remedy.

Having purified the Chalice by drinking the wine which has mixed with any traces of thePrecious Blood, the Celebrant now moves to the Epistle side where the Servers pour water and

wine over his fingers, into the Chalice, to purify them. The Celebrant says:

Corpus tuum, Dómine, quod sumpsi, etSánguis, quem potávi, adhæreat viscéribusmeis: et præsta; ut in me non remáneatscélerum mácula, quem pura et sancta

May thy Body, O Lord, which I have received,and Thy Blood which I have drunk, cleave tomy very soul; and grant that no stain of sin mayremain in me, whom Thy pure and Holy

refecérunt sacraménta: Qui vivis et regnas insæcula sæculórum. Amen.

Sacraments have refreshed; Who lives andreigns world without end. Amen.

He drinks the wine and water, dries the inside of the chalice with the purificator, lays it across the chalice, and places

upon it the paten and pall. He veils the chalice, leaves it in the middle of the altar, and goes to the Epistle side.

THE COMMUNION PRAYER

Hoc corpus, quod pro vobis tradétur: hiccalix novi testaménti est in meo sánguine,

dicit Dóminus: hoc fácite, quotiescúmquesúmitis, in meam commemoratiónem.

This is My Body which shall be delivered foryou: this chalice is the new Testament in My

Blood, saith the Lord: do this, as often as youreceive it, in commemoration of Me.

THE POSTCOMMUNION PRAYERHe goes to the middle of the altar, and turning to the people chants:

V. Dóminus vóbiscum. V. The Lord be with you.

If a High (Sung) Mass: Please stand; otherwise: remain seated.

R. Et cu m spíritu tuo. R. And with your spirit.

He returns to the Epistle side.

Orémus. Let us pray.

Adésto nobis, Dómine, Deus noster: et quostuis mystériis recreáti, perpétuis defénde

subsídiis. Per Dóminum nostrum IesumChristum Fílium tuum, qui tecum vivit et regnatin unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, per ómniasæcula sæculórum. R. Amen.

Stand by us, O Lord our God, and with tirelesssupport defend us whom Thou hast renewed

through these mysteries. Through our LordJesus Christ, Thy Son, Who lives and reignswith Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God,world without end. R. Amen.

Coming back to the middle of the altar, he turns to the Congregation; and chants:
