VERY RARE GERMAN WWII LATE WAR JET PILOTS HELMET Standard LkpW101 leather flying helmet with Siemans manufacture label in fleece lining, that has been factory converted (not field addition) to use as jet fighter pilots helmet late in WWII by the addition of crash pads – obviously based on the Russian Tankers helmet. After WWII many German flight helmets were indeed converted by the Russians to a similar configuration also for use in their tanks – this helmet is not one of them as it still has its attached throat mikes and jack plug, which were discarded by the Russians as they had no use in their tanks. Quite apart from the fact that a jack plug made for German aircraft wouldn’t be designed to fit in a Russian tank! A rare helmet indeed –Condition is excellent - a fellow collector has one in their collection that he purchased almost 40 years ago from the original owner who told him he wore it for testing.
