To celebrate the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the final round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship the Great Race Festival Off-Track Events will provide a number of activities for residents and

businesses to be involved.

The 2020 Great Race Festival Off-track Events will be held from 14 -18 October. This years event will look quite different, whilst still supporting

local businesses, showcasing the Bathurst Region and ensuring community connectedness. The biggest changes for 2020 will see the

removal of the Transporter and Driver Parade, B-Rock Super Wednesday Driver Signing and the Saturday Street Fair.

The Off-track Events will adhere to current NSW Health guidelines and conduct activities in a COVID Safe manner. We ask that when participating

in activities, people maintain social distancing and do not attend any activity if feeling unwell or experiencing flu like symptoms.

The main attraction for this year’s event is the VERTO Scavenger Hunt. This activity encourages resident to get outdoors and explore the Bathurst Region in a safe environment. Prizes are also up for grabs for participants.

Competition runs between 25 September - 18 October.

VERTO SCAVENGER HUNT - Grab your friends, kids or go solo to explore and discover the Bathurst region. Gain points for every task to go into the draw to win one of 30 prizes. Runs from 25 September – 18 October.

BATHURST REGIONAL ART GALLERY EXHIBITIONS continuedIn 1988, Alexander graduated from the National Art School, Sydney, with a Bachelor of Visual Art degree, and for the past 25 years he has supported his painting, music and filmmaking practices by creating illustrations and political cartoons for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian newspapers. He works in plein air and in the studio, using both traditional European media and locally sourced material, including raw earths and eucalypt and wattle gums. A BRAG Local Artist Project.

TOM BUCKLAND: Flightpaths - Throughout human history, birds have played the roles of friend, foe and food: we share our world with them, they inhabit every continent and they hold great importance in literature and legend. In these uncertain times, what impact is climate change going to have on migratory bird species, and how does rapid change in the natural and built environment impact on birds and the complex relationships that we take for granted? Through a series of works made of bronze, cardboard and found objects, sculptor Tom Buckland seeks to respond to these questions and to explore our emotional, ethical and imaginative connection to the world of birds.Buckland has strong connection to the Central West, having studied visual art at Bathurst and Orange TAFE campuses and, in 2011, winning the Countryscapes Essential Energy Youth Encouragement Award at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. He graduated from the Australian National University, Canberra, with a Bachelor of Visual Arts with Honours in 2015 and was the recipient of the John and Elizabeth Baker Honours scholarship. Buckland has undertaken residencies at Cementa (Kandos, 2018), Fremantle Arts Centre (WA, 2017) and Canberra Contemporary Art Space (ACT, 2016). His work has featured in numerous exhibitions in Canberra, Orange, Bathurst, Melbourne and Fremantle. A BRAG Foyer Exhibition.

Wiradyuri: Ngurang Buwugarra-gu Gudhi-dha Murruway, Wiradyuri Ngaanha, Birrunga Wiradyuri - Birrunga Wiradyuri is a Wiradyuri artist who produces original narrative works of Wiradyuri Culture, history, spirituality and Lore. This exhibition focuses on aspects of Birrunga’s personal Songline, referencing geographic and historic sites across the Bathurst region as well as contemporary Cultural narratives relating to colonisation, leading up to and including the Bathurst War of 1824, through Muyulung. Birrunga is founder and principal artist of the multi-award winning Birrunga Gallery in Brisbane’s CBD, and participant in the Australia Council’s Inaugural National Custodianship Program. Birrunga consults closely with his Elders, Wiradyuri Traditional Owners from the Gunhigal Mayiny Wiradyuri Dyilang Enterprise, on matters of Culture and Lore, resulting in Ngurang Buwugarra-gu Gudhi-dha Murruway, Wiradyuri Ngaanha, Birrunga Wiradyuri, a Bathurst Regional Art Gallery exhibition.A BRAG Exhibition.
