Improvements and Resolved Issues By Release

Version 5.03Release Date: September 1, 2016

New Features and Improvements SurvCE: The antenna definition file has been updated from the NGS database. SMI Chain to Carlson SCT now calculates the interpolation on the sides of the road during the

import, based on the change in the grades (specific SMI style of defining the road). SurvCE now allows Import Chain (SMI) simple section template into Carlson SCT. SurvCE now supports cutsheet options Design North/and East for STK Points.

Bug Fixes in SurvCE: SurvCE now works correctly when using divided highway options for CL/PRO and either the

left or right of the divided road does not contain the information for that side of the dividedroad (it uses only either the left or the right, uses the valid data only).

SurvCE can now better reconcile job files created by versions of software using mixed jobunits and display units.

Stake view for total stations now correctly displays the missing Z value in the N/E/Z list. The German translation has been updated. Some references to “Open File” had been

mistakenly changed to “Open DXF”. This is now corrected. Mission planning data can now be downloaded over MiFi connections. The interface when importing ISPOL to Carlson SCT has been improved. Import Chain (SMI) Horizontal Alignment now works correctly. SurvCE now allows

"spiral-curve-spiral" redux style (one length which is both in/out). Onboard total station versions of SurvCE will no longer fail if the user waits too long to

respond to the "Do you want to register now" dialog. When using Carlson Coordinate Numeric Files the software will now increment correctly in

List Points. SurvCE no longer has the potential to fail when the reconnect button is pressed from inside a

live survey screen. Import Carlson FLD was updated for C2017 import. SurvCE now supports very large

definitions of the FLD created in the Office C2017. Cogo/Transformation now works correctly even when the range of points used are slightly

inconsistent, e.g. usage of "<space>Point name".

Bug Fixes in SurvPC: SurvPC no longer has the potential to have a display failure in portrait orientation when the

user accidentally moves the outside frame of the program. SurvPC will now retain the Listen-Listen port entered by the user when the software is closed

and reopened.

Geodatabase (Access MS database); if the first Feature Class fails to be repaired the softwarecontinues to repair the remaining feature classes. The software no longer has the potential tofail when a repair is made against feature classes which have an extension added.

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now supports the use of Topologies associated to the feature classespart of the Mxd (Basic license), if they are "empty".

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now supports automatic repair of shape files with missingreferences in cases where the feature classes use the same Esri's set of rules relative to the datasources names (it finds the best name of the missing feature class using the current folderassigned to the feature class; e.g. missing feature class: "Streets" would attempt touse"HC_Streets.shp").

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now allows the use of Carlson settings files: *.eqf, *.alc, *.idf,*.gnt, *.eq2, job files specific to the use of Esri, even if they include translated values.

Newly installed SurvPC on Windows 10 tablets no longer have the potential to fail whenretrieving mount points. This was a problem only when SurvCE was run as an APP inWindows 10.

The redraw of the map is now more efficient. SurvPC will no longer redraw when auto-zoomis used.

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now updates the GIS Attributes when an OBJ action code is used. Carlson SurvPC with Esri now shows the last point used for Inverse (as a pencil). This now

matches the basic CAD engine. The Windows Touch Keyboard service will be left running when SurvPC exits. When using the ESRI OEM ArcGIS engine, the Feature Manager now allows multiple

selection for Add for "lyr" (composite) Feature files. The orientation of SurvPC on the tablet screen will remain fixed after startup. A third selection

for Orientation is now offered: "Auto". When "Auto" is selected, SurvPC will match itsorientation to the tablet's orientation at startup.

The allowed number of Point Features in List Points is increased from 32767 to over a million. GPS Base setup method "Use Grid Coordinates" now uses the Carlson - OEM Esri ArcGIS

Engine point's management. SurvPC with Esri OEM ArcGIS Engine now supports true multiple selection add/feature

classes from any file type (gdb, mdb, lyr, shp, dxf, dwg, dgn, rasters, etc.) Carlson SurvPC now correctly handles all DPI resolutions on Windows 7 or Vista. E.g.

Panasonic FZ-G1. Carlson SurvPC with Esri now allows loading any Data Sets or Features from a File

Geodatabase, GDB, no matter the version. Carlson SurvPC with Esri now supports storing Point Features, using the equations defined for

additional measurements.

Bug Fixes in SurvCE: Process GPS using Average now reports the average values for redundant points. Volume calculations now work consistently in Windows CE. This was a recently introduced

error. User defined antennas will now have the correct L1/L2 offsets. SurvCE will now prompt appropriately to change faces during set collection for non-robotic

total stations. SurvCE now displays the correct fonts in the average report screen for COGO/Intersection

results for all versions of Windows CE. The green check in backsight setup will now be active after using the routine to check the

backsight, assuming a backsight has already been recorded.

KML conversion no longer has the potential to fail when a subset of points are selected. SurvCE will now use the correct reflectorless rod height when changing targets using the

bottom bar. The multiple target feature now displays the prisms correctly for manual total station. The “+” button to add multiple codes in the one-touch coding feature has been improved. Lat/Lon entries now allow "dd" suffixes in the LAT/LON Cogo Calculator. SurvCE now displays units for Area in MAP/List Pline. There will no longer be a temporary dashed line left when Edit GIS data is used to calculate

Area and Perimeter. If the RTK network connection fails on initial GNSS connection or reconnect, SurvCE will

now suppress the "Successful Connection" prompt that is linked to the successful connectionto the GNSS device.

SurvCE will now go into the GPS Utilities screen faster. The COGO/Transformation routine now works even when the two points being transformed

are aligned at 180 degrees. The JOG action code now works if it is used in combination with existing FCL codes, R, L,

etc. In previous versions the F2F could potentially fail when the action code was used as: JOGR2.5, and a code Existed in the FCL: RT (for example).

The “None” option in RW5 processing for TS/RTS (no redundancies check) will no longerreport "multiple measurements" in the report.

Exporting Ascii no longer has the potential to reverse the X and Y . This bug was unique tothe following criteria: 1) using Custom format 2) having the Coordinate Display order set toEast, North 3) when using the previously set Custom configuration (not pressing the Configbutton on the Export Ascii dialog).

The IMU tab under equip->Configure will now only display when needed. DC Compass now initializes correctly when in MAP and the end user switches ON/OFF DC

Compass. The raw file records relating to log raw have been improved to show the correct log file name

and extension. SurvCE will now block the user from attempting to append to a log file forthese receivers, as it is not supported.

Bluetooth Satel/Vx6 Satel/Satel 35W -- Selecting PDL GMSK or PDL 4FSK now workscorrectly.

Typing a negative value in the offset routine will automatically change the offset direction(i.e., typing -6 in the left offset box will switch to 6 in the right offset box. Positive valueswill stay as typed (this resolves a bug in the initial implementation of this feature).

The data collector compass no longer has the potential to fail intermittently. Importing RNF within Carlson SurvCE/SurvPC now allows the use of TPC/TPP data. Carlson SurvCE PC Demo portraitview now shows the correct spacing in the main menu (for

the non-graphic icons case). The direction of the centerline is now displayed correctly when the Draw Centerline feature is

used with multiple CLs. Last Calibration and Temperature shift are now displayed in the Sensor Calibration dialog. HT2 now refreshes the Z within the HGT/Desc dialog, even when the HT2 is used from the

selector dialog (not from the pop-up menu of HT2's items). For some user defined projection types, the latitude of origin was incorrectly being set to 0.

This is now corrected.

SurvCE will no longer apply the scale bar/landscape option in the graphics screen when it isselected in map.

Offset Distance/Angle Azimuth will now be recalculated when the point is selected from themap or when the GPS position is read.

When using Point Selection List on DataCollectors which are PortraitView and are HDPI, theoption for Ctrl (Control) Job (radio button) is now displayed correctly. Also, the dialog underRoad/Design Files/Setting (Profile) right-top button with a check box is now presentedcorrectly (no overlapped controls).

On Data Collectors which are HDPI, SurvCE now allows both legacy 14x14 pixel symbolsand new larger 28x28 pixels symbols. Backward compatibility has been restored.

Data Collectors with HDPI displays on Windows Mobile 6.5.x and higher; e.g. Juniper Archer2 Series, Carlson Mini 2, Nautiz X8, etc; will no longer show a slim blue/gray bar above thesoftware (below the Windows Mobile, Task Bar). The interface of the software and theOS/Platform is cleaner.

Belgian Lambert 72 - xyGridLb72 -- Corrected value for scale (ppm) in datum transformation. In the Monitor/SATInfo screen, the S/N column was incorrectly labeled "S/N S/N L1" when

only L1 S/N data was available. This will now show as "S/N L1" for Landscape and "S/N" forPortraitview.

SurvCE no longer show unused and unsaved parameters for the Oblique_Mercator_EOVprojection.

SurvCE will now correctly retain the C parameter when using theTransverse_Mercator_Alaska_27 projection, in user defined projections.

SurvCE now uses corrected rw5 log records indicating the closing of a static raw file.Previously, filename was blank.

Navigation speed format is now properly saved to INI, and no longer requires a job reload totake effect. Speed units are now properly converted. Speed and ETAD no longer prematurelyreset to 0 before the next position update.

Elevation Differences now respects the "auto" description usage; sta/off etc are updated evenafter the HGT/Desc was used.

Selection of points in COGO/Area while using ESRI OEM engine now assigns symbolscorrectly without the potential to fail.

It is now easier to change the HT and PtID values in StkPattern. Contours now respect the "inclusions" perimeter defined by the user. Insertion of Rover TCP/IP Direct base by Configure Base now avoids duplicating base names. SurvCE no longer has the potential to fail when points are incremented negatively (-1, -2…)

from a CRDB. Export ASCII point info from a CRDB no longer has the potential to fail. RW5 processing of TS/RTS is now improved, especially in cases with Closure + Average

Distance and Elevation. Speeds in units/hour are now properly converted in the Navigation feature. SurvCE will no longer display BP failure messages for DGPS solutions where a base position

is not available. SurvCE no longer has the potential to fail when double-clicking on the Helmet/SurvCE in

Graphic Screens. The Canadian CSRS NAD27 Grid is now working correctly. Corrections were made to

reverse bugs introduced in the calculation between the 4.07 release version and the 5.0 releaseversion. Reverse calculation (grid to geodetic) is also now supported.

Base RTK type now saved in Rover list of bases along with base IP and port. Store Points => Offset => 2 Point : Direction combo now remembers its setting when virtual

keyboard is used. The D&R Report is no longer missing the first record of every set. LandXML import now works correctly using 12D software (it appears that the software 12D

does not store the required name of the Alignment name); SurvCE now circumvents thisdeficiency and create generic Names for the Import; SurvCE also now supports import ofANSI, or UNICODE/or UTF-8/16 BOM encoded files).

SurvCE will now support older configuration files with search ranges saved as degrees. When adding "Feature Layers" as pure rasters (not from a Geodatabase), the software now

works correctly. When a point is added in the List Points, it scrolls within the list and makes sure that the Point

ID is always displayed; example ~10000 points, Add button, replace points/add below 100ranges; the changed point will be shown in the view and the end user does not need to use thescroll bar.

The software now finds the blank empty available Pt ID using a new algorithm that worksmore reliably.

TEXT/VIEW screens are now remembered when used; in the past any Topo or STK routineother than Store Points, or Stakeout Points were removing the TEXT/VIEW style. Now thesoftware retains the setting.

The Triangulation routine now respects the RW5 file name selected by the end user. It doesnot have to be the same name as the Job name.

The “Use Highest Pt. ID” checkbox in List Points->Settings now works as designed. Thismakes it easier for the user to control the range of points for storing between jobs.

SurvCE now remembers the last job type (CRD/CRDB) used by the user and makes it moreintuitive to start a new job using the same type automatically.

In the Navigation routine, velocity now uses the correct time between epochs for speedcalculation.

Language files will now be delivered to the correct location on the South CE6 Onboard totalstation.

TEXT view now works correctly when using Virtual KB. The List of codes will open andclose correctly.

Bug Fixes in SurvPC: Carlson SurvPC with Esri now allows multiple repairs on Feature Classes from a Personal

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now uses the correct feature extent after the reproject procedure isapplied (Geographical = Feature Class which has a Geographical Spatial Reference system).

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now prevents errors when adding feature layers through the “ViewLayer Manager.” The software will prevent selecting multiple folders or invalid/unknowngeodatabases.

Carlson SurvPC with Esri now supports Esri CAD Engine (MAP), and hybrid CAD BasicMAP + Esri Engine (MAP). Draw Profile, Draw Template, now work with the use of aJob/Empower by an Esri ArcMap Document MXD.

SurvPC with Esri now removes the CLSID Feature Class Extensions (user's extensions),

Page 10: Version 5.0 Release Notes - Carlson Softwarefilesnj.carlsonsw.com/mirror/support/SurvCE/5.0/SurvCE 5...Onboard total station versions of SurvCE will no longer fail if the user waits

which are in many cases not licensed on the tablet PC. In this case the end user can use thedata set without the Feature Class Extensions.

Tablet users who choose "Use Virtual Keyboard" will no longer have the OS touch keyboardalso appear.

The SurvPC install will now include both landscape and portrait versions of language dll files. SurvPC with Esri now correctly identifies the OID of an object after it is selected from the list

in Stakeout Points and Stakeout Line. HT edit box on Graphic/Survey screens is now correctly sized when using units label. PC Products now use the correct alignment for TopBar. This eliminates a narrow line on the

top of the screen for some tablets. The direction of the Object (action code OBJ) is now automatically corrected based on the

EQ2. The EQ2 (multi z equations) now run silently. The vertical offset is now applied against the Z (elevations) for measurements assigned to the

EQ2 (multi z equations). SurvPC with Esri now explores data in the feature dataset using the file dialog. Carlson SurvPC can now use Custom Scaling DPI, This also improves the Menu/only MAP

CAD command on different DPI/scaling screen resolutions.
