Vermachtnis legacy chapter 14

“Yeah, can you come over? Like, right now? I need to ask you something important.”

Welcome back to The Vermachtnis Legacy, readers! We left Sasha in a bit of a bind, with her fiancé Blake having broken up with her due to him being a big pain in the you-know-what. Now she’s ready to start over, but with whom?

The winner is Professor Cornrows himself, Hayden Something-or-Other. I always forget to write down the last names! I hadn’t really considered him a contender at first, but he and Sasha already had a good relationship and, while he isn’t a sim I would normally use, he really isn’t that bad at all.

After a move-in and a makeover, Sasha and Prof. Hayden start on a very positive date. However, not everyone is happy to see him. Palmer is worried that Hayden might read his diary. Got some seedy secrets in there, Palmer?

It isn’t long before Sasha and Hayden have fallen in love thanks to their one date they had while Sasha was in college. Former philosophy professor Hayden is then only too happy to propose and Sasha, still fresh on the rebound, is pleased to accept. Please note the bunny-man, one of Sasha’s coworkers, in the background. I love this neighborhood so much sometimes.

So here’s Hayden after his makeover. He’s pretty cute actually. I feel pretty good about this match-up, especially because he doesn’t have any stupid wants and they have two bolts together. Hayden is a knowledge/fortune sim with the LTW to be a Mad Scientist. I forget his personality except that he has 3 nice points. Looks like the tyranny of mean sims isn’t over yet.

So, I wasn’t going to have another huge wedding so soon, but Palmer wanted a family reunion. Sasha invited all of her friends from college plus every Vermachtnis she knows. Palmer got his wish satisfied and I got a laggy backyard full of sims. Another winter party means that, while most of the guests wore their formal wear (and probably froze their butts off), some of my sims wore outerwear to the wedding instead.

Guests aside, the wedding was beautiful and Sasha and Hayden had eyes only for each other. They exchanged their vows, traded rings, and kissed, and became the official couple of generation seven.

A few notable guests:• Malcolm Vermachtnis hoped the

reception would include some braaaaaaains.

• SimRoxy will come to your party, but she will sit inside and drink juice by herself the entire time. Sorry about that, Sasha and Hayden.

• Parker got invited because I forgot he’s also a vampire so he ran home right after the ceremony.

Sean, Sid, Sammy, and Sebastian were all there for their baby sister’s big day.

“Yeah, so I was watching this movie about aliens and they were all like “Rawr,” and the humans were all like, “Oh no!” and the aliens totally conquered the planet. Aliens are scary!”“You’re not that observant, son, are you? You’re marrying into a family of aliens.”“Oh, really? Oops.”

Here’s a picture of the happy couple, about to enjoy their wedding night. I think they look really nice together. I’m glad Sasha found someone that was a better match.

Unlike nearly all of my sims, they did not try for baby right away. Since Sasha is having to work her way up from the bottom to her LTW and Hayden might take a while too, I’m waiting for one or the other to be permaplat before they start having kids. It’s kind of morbid, but I’m also waiting for Maddie and Max to die so there’s a bit more room. Sorry, guys! You’re just living too long!

I decided not to send the newlyweds on honeymoon since I’ve played a lot of vacations recently. Life continues pretty normally at the house.

Palmer: “All I am saying, is give war a chance.”Max: “I like your ideas and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.”Lexie: “You guys are nuts. I’m out of here.”

Hayden needs skills for promotions, plus he’ll also want to max his skills since he’s a knowledge sim, so he sits down with the thinking cap and does some serious studying. Sasha got the want to study parenting (apparently getting ready for the future?) so she spends a bit of quality time with her husband on the couch too.

Maddie completed both of the official portraits. I think they turned out nicely.

Sasha and Hayden’s portraits take up the last bit of space on the long wall in the hallway, so this is the last picture I’ll be able to take that includes all of the portraits, stretching back to Asher.

Max, like his mother and stepmother before him, has become a lush in his old age. There’s something that’s just so pleasure sim about standing around in your pjs, drinking. He then runs up to Palmer’s bedroom at 6 to admire his ship in a bottle and block Palmer’s path. What a weirdo.

“Look, sweetie. I know you’re new to Vermachtnis ways, so pay attention. This is how we show affection in this household. Hang loose!”

“Aw, but I like the old way. You’re too pretty for me to pull surfer gestures at.”

“You’re sweet, Hayden, but trust me, that will change. Just you wait. We’ll have you hanging loose in no time.”

Sasha is slowly working her way up the Culinary ladder. Every day I have her check for the career on the computer, but it never comes up. By the time it did show up, it was at a lower level than where Sasha was. Hayden is also making good progress towards becoming a Mad Scientist.

Time for Palmer and Lexie to get old!

Aww, they’re still cute. Lexie didn’t age so gracefully but Palmer looks pretty much the same as he always has, plus a moustache and white hair.

Remnants of island vacations abound in this house. There is, of course, the incessant hang loosing, but Palmer and Maddie also break into a hula dance one night and spend a good portion of the evening hula dancing. Palmer is still really good at it. He has that island flow, lol.

“Dang, I was hot when I was young.”

Yeah, you were, Maddie. It’s too bad you didn’t get to influence the bloodline directly, but I guess the good news is we could take another shop clerk if we needed to since you didn’t contribute your genes to the heir.

“I think Hayden can read my diary!”

Of course he can, Lexie, you sat down right in front of him. There is a lot of diary-writing going on lately around the education bookcase, but it’s a busy room so the writers spend most of their time thinking X-ed out thought bubbles.

Witness the effects of a house full of mean sims. Arguments spontaneously break out all the time between people with perfect relationships, and all snowmen built are evil snowmen. I like the snowman but I could do without the constant arguing.

Zoe is getting quite old and I’d like there to be a dog in the house while the kids grow up. Sasha and Hayden are still waiting to start having children, so there’s no better time to adopt a puppy. Our new puppy is a black little guy named Elroy.

In the second picture, the plumbbob is intentional. Elroy is so small that when he’s taken outside to potty, he disappears in the snow! I had to go into buy mode to figure out exactly where he is so Sasha could pick him up to take him inside again!

“He’s . . . he’s in my bed.”

It’s ok, Zoe, there’s another perfectly fine bed right next to it.

“But . . . he’s in my bed.”

She did warm up to him later, territory issues aside.

Lexie destroyed Sasha’s evil snowman with glee. I think it’s funny how they brush their hands afterwards, like, “Job well done, self. Splendid.”

The penguin was distraught by this turn of events, however.

So, a house full of mean sims? Guess what. They like to gossip a lot. A lot a lot. I would estimate that 50% of the interactions that go on in this household are gossip.

My favorite pic is the one at center top, where Lexie and Max are both telling the same gossip about Macy beating up Elle at Palmer’s wedding.

For some reason, everyone except Palmer comes and hangs out in Sasha and Hayden’s bedroom first thing in the morning. The elders are all usually there, hang loosing, chatting, and admiring artwork, before the main couple even wakes up. It’s a little bizarre and makes it hard for Sasha and Hayden to get any privacy to make out in. On another note, they are a delightful couple. They’re always kissing and hugging each other if they don’t have something else to do and they’re near each other.

The time has come for Zoe to move on to doggy heaven. Hayden was at work but everyone else was home at the time, so there was a good deal of crying.

The really strange thing is, as soon as Death came for Zoe, Elroy instantly grew up even though he had only been a puppy for a day and a half. It was a weird little bug. Elroy immediately set to destroying a statue so Sasha had to scold him while everyone else was still weeping.

They found the strength to cope in their family traditions, however.

That same day, it’s Maddie’s turn to go. She and Max have lived very long lives. Madelein, you drove me crazy often but you will be missed.

Max’s turn comes the next evening when he and Lexie return from their celebrity chef cooking show. All these deaths have left the family members distraught and there’s quite a bit of crying going on. Goodbye, Max. Go enjoy your dream dates with Maddie. I was hoping Sasha would make it to the top of the track so I could have three generations of Celebrity Chefs, but it was not to be.

Max and Maddie have gone to rest in the Vermachtnis cemetery, the ancestral resting place of the Vermachtnis family.

Just a note: one of the two blank graves is actually Jesse’s, a romance sim. He died platinum but you know how romance sim graves can be. I just wanted to make clear that I’ve only had one sim die in this legacy that wasn’t permaplat and that was Edith, who got scared to death by ghosts.

We have a bit of a problem. Lexie and Hayden, without any action from me, are listed as having three bolts for each other, while Sasha and Hayden have only two. Hayden has eyes only for his wife, thank god, but Lexie has taken to following Hayden around the house, being all creepy. She doesn’t give him a moment’s peace. It’s like the toddler interaction to “Follow Sim” but it’s an elder doing it. Not cool.

Palmer is as entertaining as an elder as he always was. He’s a really big napper who keeps some pretty odd hours, and the bathtubs see as much action as they always have. Ah, you neat, playful sim, you.

Hurray! Sasha has worked her way up from the very bottom of the culinary career track and has become a Celebrity Chef! She’s now permaplat and her next LTW is to be a Rock God. Can do.

I never seem to capture the aspiration points in time, so all my pictures of LTWs being accomplished tend to be of the influence points. I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but it bugs me.

“Hey, baby. I’ve got something to say that’ll really rev your engine.”

“Oh? What’s that?”

“I’m permaplatinum.”

“Woohoo! Literally!”

Hayden has continued to skill and has begun maxing one skill after another. He’s very good about having the correct wants at the correct time, so he’s really racking up a lot of aspiration points.

Looks like the celebratory woohoo had the right effect. Sasha changes into some boring purple pjs after spending a day with incredible morning sickness. The first baby of generation 8 is on the way!

Lexie continues to be a real creep. Without Maddie and Max to keep her company, she still comes straight to Hayden’s side of the bed and admires the dragon on his bedside table every morning. I do mean every morning. She follows him around so that if he’s skilling, she’ll find something to do nearby. I’m terrified that she’s going to try something rather than just following him around like a lovesick puppy.

“Here, honey, how about a backrub? I know that expecting our first child must be hard on you, what with the morning sickness, the swollen ankles, the backaches. Why, carrying our child must make you long for a backrub. Oh wait, silly me, that’s ME that’s carrying the baby. Hint hint, Hayden.”

He may not get the clue on backrubs, but Hayden does love to interact with Sasha’s belly. He’s the only one in the house without a primary or secondary family aspiration, so he has no wants for the baby unlike everyone else, but he does like checking up on the little one.

Just like a sim, Sasha goes into labor in a place where it’s awkward to take a picture of everyone. All the family is in attendance for the birth of the baby.

Sasha and Hayden have a little son, a boy named Vincent with all of his dad’s coloring and no trace of Sasha so far: S3, brown hair and eyes.

Sasha and Hayden immediately get started on the next one since they waited so long to begin having children. They conceive on the first try again, and the elders immediately rush into the room to chat and admire artwork as soon as Sasha and Hayden are done. I don’t understand what makes this room so attractive.

Little Vincent sees a lot of love in his early days. Even Hayden, despite having no wants for Vincent, still likes to come by and cuddle him. Vincent puked on Lexie right after this picture was taken. He threw up on every single person that tried to play with him, every time. Volatile little stomach on that one.

Hayden is still working his way up the science career ladder and is now a top secret researcher. He brought home this odd fellow who is wearing makeup. Reminds me of the lipstick on Castor when I was playing the McManias. Who am I to judge, but it is a little weird.

I can totally see how Palmer could take a nap through all of that racket. Sure.

Sasha has a very dichotomous personality. She’s all sweetness and love with her baby, but she argues with anyone that comes home from work with a Vermachtnis. She’s mean to the core except where it concerns her family.

Yay! Hayden is now permaplatinum and is the last adult/elder to become so. His next LTW is to become a space pirate.

Vincent’s birthday rolls around and everyone is there to see it.

He looks pretty cute from here but let’s take a closer look.

Hmm. Pretty cute from here too. He’s got almost all of his dad’s features, especially his heavy-lidded eyes, but he does have Sasha’s nose and pointy ears. Vincent’s personality is 9/4/9/10/3. Another meanie, but wow is that a lot of points overall.

So . . . do you guys have enough poured drinks?

“Not really. I think I’ll make one more for me.”

“Ooh, make me another one too, Hayden! This one’s almost empty.”

Once I can force him away from the bar, Hayden celebrates Vincent’s birthday by teaching him to walk. Luckily, Vincent grew up soon after a nap so he had plenty of energy to learn.

All of the adults, including Hayden now, have wants to teach Vincent various things. I had to choose, for example, between three different sims that all wanted to teach him to walk. I tried to lock one for each of them so that they could have an equal share in bringing him up.

Ugh, Lexie. Knock it off. She still is magnetically drawn to Hayden’s side every morning, and when he relaxes on his own bed, she’s presumptuous enough to join him!

Bump number two! Sasha was taking out the garbage, because someone had thrown one piece of cake away when the dishwasher and sink were busy. Can’t let any more than one item build up in the trash! You know, Sasha, I think your obsession with the trash is a bit pathological. Maybe with a few more children you won’t have as much time to empty it every morning.

Vincent likes to talk about the weirdest things. The family tries to educate him on his alien heritage, but he’d much rather talk about couples counseling. Huh?

Lexie is a one-woman creepfest. She follows Hayden everywhere, but, to his credit, he only has romantic feelings for Sasha. When they can find some alone time, they’re more than happy to flirt and kiss the day away.

Vincent learned all his toddler skills his second day in the toddler age. He’s a quick skiller and there’s always adults around ready to teach him. His first word was ‘daddy’ – awwww.

Some people have a cast-iron stomach, or so they say. Vincent’s must be made of aluminum foil. He throws up on everyone.

He also continues to talk about the weirdest subjects. He shows a lot of interest in what the grown-ups have accomplished in their lives.

Look Lexie, I know you’re a romance sim, but if you don’t stop this behavior and stop rolling wants to fall in love with Hayden, I don’t even know what I’ll do. It won’t be pretty. Just behave yourself already.

Sasha goes into labor in Vincent’s nursery and Lexie and Hayden are there to witness it. It’s twins! Yay! Palmer rushes in in time for the hand-off, while Lexie figures this is a perfect time to tell Hayden about her travels, never mind that her daughter just had a baby and needs to give it to her husband.

The twins are a boy named Vance and a girl named Vanessa. So far they look identical to Vincent.

What’s wrong, Vincent?

“I wanted to be an only child!”

You are in the wrong legacy, then, mister.

And Sasha and Hayden try again for another one. This next one should be the last birth of the generation. They’re getting pretty up there in the adult lifestage, so there’s no time like the present to get pregnant again.

The twins see plenty of love over the next few days. Vance and Vanessa are just as adored as their big brother.

“Awww . . . I can’t get to Hayden and follow him around. Guess I’ll just have a sit instead and get something done while I wait for him to be available for my advances.”

Gross, Lexie.

Cheesecake! I like the Vermachtnises to have the maximum number of children I can get in the house at one time with two generations of adults living, which is 5 of course, so cheesecake is a necessity. I was just convinced to download one of the hacks to allow more sims on a lot so maybe we’ll see more kids in the future. I like this family to have as many as I can stand.

Lovelorn Lexie continues to follow Hayden around no matter what he’s doing. She especially love cheering for him when he’s playing instruments. I am equal parts amused and disturbed by this relationship. Hayden seems oblivious to it, though.

“I’m home! I’m a family sim! I brought home a coworker who went into aspiration failure! Yay for me!”

The poor Captain Hero there is Madison Vermachtnis, one of Palmer’s aunts. I’m assuming she’s reacting to the death of Max, who she was a half-sister to. Good thing I don’t keep points anymore.

Yay! The first bump! We’ll have the final twins of the generation soon.

Whatcha doin’, Vincent?

“Being adorable.”

Oh, carry on, then.

Birthday time has come for all three generation 8 kids. I accidentally set up one of the cakes backwards so poor Hayden had to stand by himself on the other side of the counters.

The twins look a lot like Vincent. In fact, Vance is a clone because I forgot about the firstborn effect again. Vanessa looks just like her brothers, though. All three of the kids have Hayden’s eyes.

Vance’s personality, like Vincent’s, is 9/4/9/10/3. Vanessa’s is 9/2/10/2/3. Pretty similar except for being much more serious.

Vincent also grew up, of course, and there’s no surprises in his looks. He’s a fairly even mix of his two parents, but I dislike that he looks so sleepy all the time.

Just like Vincent, Vanessa and Vance grew up with plenty of energy and so get to learn a new skill and get into the platinum right away.

SO CUTE! Vanessa and Elroy are fast friends. Look how happy he is in that hug! I love the pic on the left, too.

The grandparents have plenty of wants for the little ones and Sasha is busy being pregnant so they get to teach the twins their skills.

Vance and Vanessa learned all their skills plus a nursery rhyme by their second day of toddlerhood.

Well this is nice for a change. They’re arguing. That happens a lot in a house full of meanies, but until now there hasn’t been any arguments between Lexie and Hayden. If it keeps their boundaries respected, I’m all for it.
