We are here to celebrate the 2nd stage of refurbishment of

Goddard Hall

• Our agenda is to provide services to the community which cater for people with Disabilities

• Our approach to providing these services is inclusion within the community through services like Goddard Hall

What is Goddard Hall

• Goddard Hall is a multi-purpose, fully inclusive community centre

• Goddard Hall is a place where the local community mixes freely with First Initiative’s client group – people with learning disabilities and mental health problems, their families and carers – and the first of its kind in the Borough

• Goddard Hall is a popular centre for community functions

What is Goddard Hall

• Third sector multidisciplinary centre• Joint/partnership approach to the

provision of services for the whole of the community

• Community involvement/partnership

Aims of Goddard Hall

• Partnership• Voluntary/Independent/Faith Groups• Private Organisations • Local Authority• Community

How have we achieved our Aims

• In a time of financial constraints this has involved sourcing alternative funding through grants

• Veolia Environmental Trust has been kind enough to donate funds to allow us to complete our 2nd stage of refurbishment

Veolia Environmental Trust

• Veolia has given us £28, 939 • With the money, we have managed

to undertake essential repairs, and carry out a refurbishment programme to make Goddard Hall fit for propose

This has involved

• Repairing the main hall ceiling• Revamping the main hall floor • Repairing the roof of the hall• Installing new double glazed windows in

the front part of the building, to make the main hall more energy efficient

• Putting in 2 new windows to the down stairs rear office

• Installing a new fire alarm system
