When The Shore Club approached Lightsounds Projects for their refurbishment they had a firm concept in mind: Smart and Simple. They wanted a modern, ‘low-profile’ look for their venue with user-friendly operation for their staff.

This 3 level entertainment venue sits right on Manly Beach, exposed to the harshness of the sun and surf, providing even greater challenges to the Lightsounds team. As a result equipment had to be resilient to the elements and of enduring quality whilst making the least impact to the overall design. Speakers were hidden in bulkheads, lighting operation achieved by discrete wall mounted controllers and LED strip lighting used extensively for subtle colour changing and mood lighting. The results speak for them-selves with The Shore Club now becoming a jewel in the Manly entertainment precinct with long queues to gain entrance.

When Planet Nightclub in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley wanted a makeover they were initially looking for a turnkey lighting solution to provide the all-important ‘WOW factor’ for their venue. While Lightsounds Projects were initially going to pursue a conven-tional intelligent moving head system, to take advantage of the high cathedral-like ceiling, as the renovations were taking place it soon became evident that Planet needed a real statement piece. It was decided that a substantial LED video screen would provide such an aesthetic. Not only do LED screens provide movement and colour but they also create a dazzling backdrop for patrons. The Projects team furthermore ensured they were easy to manage and control via a simple media generator. Not only does the screen now provide an exciting visual display for club goers but has also inspired a name change from Planet to the aptly titled ‘Electric Playground’.

The brief for the Hunky Dory was clear. A stylish look for inner city Darlinghurst, with good quality equipment and high attention to detail. The Hunky Dory sits over 3 levels on Oxford Street, situated above the infamous Balkan restaurant right in the heart of Sydney’s entertainment strip. Lightsounds Projects got to work immediately sourcing the best quality equipment that the budget would allow. The Hunky Dory team spent hundreds of man-hours on every detail imaginable ensuring the finish was “just right”, and worked closely with the Projects team to ensure that their vision was upheld. Lightsounds worked to enhance their concepts further by ensuring that the highest levels of detail were achieved to compliment the work that the owners themselves had put in. The result has to be seen to be believed with the bar becoming a firm favourite on Oxford Street with restaurant and bar facilities on offer.
