Airport, and same distance from Howrah/Sealdah railway station, Kolkata. Farmers Academy and Convention Centre (Lake Hall) situated in the south eastern side of Kalyani stadium and Kalyani lake. The place for symposium is well connected with airport or Kolkata by bus or taxi or railway. Kalyani is blessed with winter climate during symposium period with average day and night temperature is likely to be

0 0around 22-28 and 12-18 C, respectively, normally devoid of rain. Therefore winter cotton dress is recommended.

ParticipantsThe symposium aims to create platform for

exchange of ideas and thoughts among the scientists, academicians, corporate, entrepreneurs, farmers, growers, students from ICAR, CSIR, DST institutes, SAUs, KVKs and other govt. and non-Govt. organizations from the different parts of the country who have been associated with floricultural and urban horticultural jobs and avenues.

Technical Sessions:There will be eight numbers of technical

sessions over two days. Each session will have two to three invited lectures followed by oral presentations and discussions. A separate session for scientists-growers-entrepreneurs interaction will be organized at the end of the symposium for the benefit of the farmers.

Background Information: Novelty is the primitive impartial in

floriculture sector. Combating the urban stress aesthetic security exploring ornamental horticulture could be the most viable option. It combines science based technology, architectural assessments and viewed as a high growth industry in terms of floriculture, urban horticulture, nursery business, dry flower industry etc. During the year 2014-15 about 248.51 thousand hectare area was under flower cultivation in India.

When horticulture focuses to maintain and improve the surrounding urban area it simply serves the environment against the threat of Global warming by creating green substructures, sooths eye and mind. In the last decade, there is an alarming demand of plant based aroma therapies and organic cosmetics which widen up the avenue to utilize ornamental and aromatic bioresources. Great demand for floricultural products needs a systematic research approach to achieve accomplishment.

With this background the Department of Floriculture & Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Horticulture, BCKV is organizing this national symposium to bring together researchers, landscape d e s i g n e r s a n d e d u c a t o r s f o r s i g n i f i c a n t implementation of f loricultural and urban horticultural issues for socio-economic benefit.

Extended Summary on focused research or thematic papers covering the theme areas for oral as well as poster presentations in different sessions. The extended summary should be prepared in MS-Word not exceeding 800 words (within two pages) covering title of the paper, author(s), affiliation, abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion, recommendation, 1 or 2 table or figures, and maximum 2/3 references. The Extended Summary will be published in book form by a reputed Publisher with ISBN Number.
