1 Venezuela Baptist College “And they…shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.” Ezekiel 2:5 September - October 2015 FEMALE DORM ENROLMENT GROWING The enrolment of female dorm students grew by 150% this semester. It sounds like a lot. But numbers wise, it grew just from two to five students. It may not represent much to some, but it is a great accomplishment to us, considering we opened female dorms last semester. VBC is the only Independent Baptist Bible College in Venezuela to provide dorms for female students. Having Venezuelan parents trust us the education, care and protection of their daughters is not an easy decision for them to make. But the reputation of our Bible College has been gaining ground nationwide, making it easier for them to allow their girls to leave home and come to the big city to get a Bible College education. Interestingly, these girls come from five different states of our country (Miranda, Carabobo, Guárico, Yaracuy and Barinas), and two of them are PKs. The Dean of women is Sister Ingrid Martínez, who is doing a wonderful job taking care of the girls. We wanted to share this wonderful news with you, and invite you to pray that the Lord will continue sending girls our way to train them for fulltime ministry. NEW SCHOOL YEAR STARTS WITH SOME CHANGES We have introduced a few changes in our schedule starting this semester. One of them is having a mid morning daily chapel service. And what a blessing it has been to our student body, as well as to visitors and church staff. It is a 45-minute service with announcements, congregational singing, special music and preaching. I regret to say that we should have done this sooner. Before we only had an early morning meeting for a 30- minute devotional led by our students. We have not changed that, but we have now added a vibrant mid- morning chapel service that challenges our students to make spiritual decisions every single day, and that has created a new dynamic and injected great enthusiasm in students and teachers alike. We have also revamped our curriculum to avoid duplicate content, discard the superfluous, and add what was missing. We have added more courses in education so as to offer a more robust major in Christian Education for women, and added the staff needed to teach them. Venezuela Bible College is slowly maturing and preparing for the challenges ahead. Please, keep praying for us.
