Q. If you could, which musical artist would you like to meet right now and why?A. “Well, seeing as how I’m from a Caribbean back-ground and I was born and raised, almost half of my life in Los Angeles, I would have to mention two par-ticular individuals under these circumstances. One being the late and great “Robert Marley,” and the second would have to be, none other than the late and great “Tupac Shakur.” I can really relate to how they bled their heart and soul into each song they created. To me, these are the two most influential artists in my life, both culturally and musically, whom I would love to have the opportunity to speak with and take whatever knowledge that they have to give!”

Q. As a Vedette icon, what level of importance do you believe an artist play in creating “safe sex” awareness in various communities not only in your local com-munity, but also worldwide?A. “First of all, I feel like music is one the most influential tools amongst the urban population, and as an artist, I

feel like you should want to take advantage of this opportunity by spreading knowledge and positive, conscious messages along with

whatever genre of music you make. Being a young black male, as well as a victim of losing a loved one to the battle of AIDS, and knowing that this epidemic is the #1 killer amongst the urban community, I couldn’t emphasize enough on how important it is to raise awareness about “safe sex.”

Q. How does your culture influence your passion, career, or music?

A. “Well, ya duhn know seh my people are Caribbean people, and music is a major aspect of both the Caribbean culture and urban culture. So it’s only natural for us to possess musical abilities and the need to want to express those musical abilities. At times, you might hear me articulate and pronounce my words in what some have con-sidered being a California accent. Or at times, you might hear me say something in Patois (Patwa), or say a slang term from the Jamaica or Belizean dialect. These are just a few ways my culture has influenced my music and my passion for music.”

Q. As a Vedette icon, in your culture, what are other im-portant social awareness issues that you would consider important as “safe sex?”A. “Another issue in our society that I feel is very important to be aware of is the amount of young women being sexually as-saulted on a day-to-day basis. As an only child, being raised by beautiful, strong women, and as a brother and cousin too, so many beautiful young women, I consider, a female to be the most gracious, beautiful, delicate being to mankind. I feel like I’ve known too many young women in my lifetime that have expressed to me that they’ve experienced such an inhu-mane act in their past and this is an issue that needs to be paid attention to.”

Q. What is your recommen-dation for others pursuing a dream? What do they need the most?A. “There are a few things that I would recommend to those pursuing a dream like myself. First of all, you have to have ambition and faith and keep in mind that no matter what happens, whether it’s good or bad, always let it be “motivation.” However, the most important aspect of pursuing your dreams is having a plan and executing that plan, because if you’re aimlessly shooting for the stars, your dreams will be nothing more than just “dreams.”

Q. Who is, or was, your role model that helped you de-cide what you wanted to be, or do in life?A. “My mother and father. My mother motivated me to dream and believe that anything is possible. My father taught me discipline, drive, organization and determina-tion.”

Q. As a Vedette icon, what has your life ex-

perience, or others, taught you about “safe sex?”A. “Growing up in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, I’ve always known our cities rank high amongst AIDS and STD’s com-pared to the rest of the US. Also, I attended Florida State University for 3 years, where sex and college life almost go hand-in-hand. Safe sex prevents not only AID’s and STD’s, but also unwanted pregnancies. “Wrap it up.”

Q. What country and city are you from, and what might people not know about it?A. “I was born in Miami, FL., but have had the privilege of residing everywhere from: South Miami, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Cooper City, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Plantation, Parkland, Deepside, North Lauderdale, Tallahassee, and Montego Bay, Jamaica.”

Q. As a Vedette icon, in your

culture, what are other important social awareness issues that you would consider important as “safe sex?”A. “Homeless amongst the youth, drug abuse, and police profiling.”

Q. As a Vedette icon, what level of importance do you believe an artist play in creating “safe sex” awareness in various communities not only in your local community, but also worldwide?A. “Safe sex” is one of the most important message we can teach the youth. TWINFOLK is a firm believer in “wrap-ping it up.” On our debut mix-tape, we released a song called “wrap it up,” and our debut album, yet to release, we have a song called “Trojan Man” that will surely spread the message of safe sex. AIDs is an epidemic, and through simple aware-ness, millions of lives can be saved.”

Q. What is it about your style that sets you apart from others in the music industry?

A. “My style derives from my life which embodies the music I make. Creativity and originality is what I plan to bring to forth to Hip-Hop. I’m “ol’ school” like tape decks and turn-tables, but still very connected to the new technology era of iPads and USB bracelets.”

Q. As a Vedette icon, what has your life experience, or others, taught you about “safe sex?”

A. “Throughout my life, I’ve learned that we’re all human beings of the same flesh and blood and there is no individual invincible to AIDs, and no matter how much you think oth-erwise, it can hit home. However, the most valuable lesson that I’ve learned is not to take life for granted and practice abstinence or safe sex.”
