TRANSACTION SLIP

Transaction Materials

Scrip or Gift CertificateScrip is a prepaid transaction, similar to currency. It is useful for employee incentives, customer relations and more.

There are two types of gift certificates. The first is a restaurant certificate, valid for all VCA members. The second is a business specific certificate valid for a specific VCA vendor.

Buyer TransactionsTo make a purchase, check your VCA online Directory (www.valuecardalliance.com) or call your Broker. Identify yourself as a VCA member. Speak with the contact person provided by your Trade Broker or listed in the Directory. Have your VCA account number or scrip available to complete the purchase.

Seller TransactionsWhen a customer identifies himself as a VCA member, discuss your products and services as you would for a cash customer. Inform him up front if only certain products are available through VCA. If you only accept scrip, let the buyer know they will need to purchase it from their local VCA office.

Remember to get an authorization number before providing your product or service. This is for your protection —it not only guarantees the buyer’s account has the funds for the transaction, but it transfers those funds to your account.

Complete the buyer and seller information on any documents you would use to complete a normal sale. The seller is responsible for collecting and remitting taxes for transactions.

Authorizations are not required for transactions using scrip. Payments are guaranteed as long as scrip rules are followed (i.e., expiration dates, etc.).

Note: It is not necessary to send VCA your transaction documents. Once you have received an authori-zation, the funds have been trans-ferred to your account. Buyers have 30 days from their next statement to dispute charges. Sellers should keep their proof of purchase. Re-deem VCA restaurant certificates by mailing to the VCA office.
