From Pastor Jeff … While preaching through the book of Hebrews and encountering the awesome text of 10:31 – “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” – I came across this reflection on the text from a rather unexpected source. While Lawrence seems to turn the text around (usually not a good idea, but poets can get away with stuff) I still think he gets to the heart of the matter. Life apart from the living God leads slowly and inevitably to death. So I share his words. THE HANDS OF GOD D.H. Lawrence (1885 – 1930) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But it is a much more fearful thing to fall out of them. Did Lucifer fall through knowledge? Oh, then, pity him, pity him that plunge! Save me, O God, from falling into the ungodly knowledge of myself as I am without God. Let me never know, O God let me never know what I am or should be when I have fallen out of your hands, the hands of the living God. That awful and sickening endless sinking, sinking through the slow, corruptive levels of disintegrative knowledge when the self has fallen from the hands of God, and sinks, seething and sinking, corrupt and sinking still, in depth after depth of disintegrative consciousness sinking in the endless undoing, the awful katabolism into the abyss! even of the soul, fallen from the hands of God. Save me from that, O God! Let me never know myself apart from the living God! Soli Deo Gloria, Reverend Dr. Jeff Jones

The Armor of God ~ Study by Priscilla Shirer ~ Two more months, one in September and one in October,
and our review of “The Armor of God” study will be completed. You are welcome to come to the reviews, even if you did not
participate in the study. September’s review is Wednesday, September 19th at 12:30pm at the church; October’s date has not been
set. Immediately following the last two reviews you are invited to “stand in the gap” with us in a time of prayer (2:00pm). This is a
time to lift up those requests in the bulletins, those shared at worship, and the prayers and praises conveyed through the prayer
chain.
In Ephesians 6:11 Paul begins with “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes”. After going through all the pieces of the armor he then continues in verses 18 and 19, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people - a directive and call to pray. And then he makes a request of his own, “Pray for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel” There is power in prayer!
Being in fellowship, studying His word, and praying for one another binds us together, builds community and
relationships within His body the church - Harmony Church.
Finally, this is the final installment of “My Inheritance and Identity in Christ”, reprinted from the Armor of God Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer. As you read over the blessings and benefits bestowed upon us as redeemed children of God may you will gain great confidence and encouragement in who you are in Christ.
I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession and created to sing his
praises (I Peter 2:9-10) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may
declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are
the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
I am firmly rooted and built up in Christ (Col. 2:7) Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and
overflowing with thankfulness.
I am born of God, and the evil one cannot touch me (I John 5:18) We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin;
the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.
I have the mind of Christ (I Cor. 2:16) For, “Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
I may approach God with boldness, freedom, and confidence (Eph. 3:12) In him and through faith in him we may approach God
with freedom and confidence.
I have been rescued from Satan’s domain and transferred into the kingdom of Christ (Col. 1:13)
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.
I have been made complete in Christ (Col. 2:10) In Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and
authority.
I have been given a spirit of power, love and self-discipline (II Tim. 1:7) For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but
gives us power, love and self-discipline.
I have been given great and precious promises by God (II Peter 1:4) Through these he has given us his very great and precious
promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil
desires.
My needs are met by God (Phil. 4:19} And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
I am a prince [princess] in God’s kingdom (John 1:12, I Tim. 6:15) John 1:12 ` Yet to all who did receive him, to those who
believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
I Timothy 6:15 ~ Which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
I have been bought with a price, and I belong to God (I Cor. 6:19-20) Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God
with your bodies.
I have been adopted as God’s child (Eph. 1:5) He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with
his pleasure and will—
I have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit (Eph. 2:18) For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
I am assured that all things are working together for good (Rom. 8:28) And we know that in all things God works for the good
of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
I am free from condemning charges against me (Rom. 8:31) What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us,
who can be against us?
5 | P a g e
I cannot be separated from the love of God (Rom. 8:35) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship
or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
I have been established, anointed, and sealed by God (II Cor. 1L21-22) Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in
Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
I am confident that the good works that God has begun in me will be perfected (Phil. 1:6) Being confident of this, that he who
began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
I am a citizen of heaven (Phil. 3:20) But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus
Christ.
I am a personal witness of Christ’s (Acts 1:8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
I am God’s coworker (II Cor. 6:1; I Cor. 3:9) II Corinthians 6:1 ~ As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace
in vain. I Corinthians 3:9 ~ For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realm (Eph. 2:6) And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly
realms in Christ Jesus.
I am God’s workmanship (Eph. 2L10) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared
in advance for us to do.
I can do all things through Christ, who gives me the strength I need (Phil. 4:13) I can do all this through him who gives me
strength.
Be blessed! We are victorious in Christ! Claim your identity and inheritance,
and stand firm!
Ladies Night Out Tuesday, September 18, 2018 6:30 PM
Quilting at Harmony
Harmony’s Monday Baby Quilters will tell us all about their quilts and their mission. These ladies, along with
the Wednesday quilters, create beautiful quilts. The baby quilters have been sewing each Monday since 2011
and have finished an amazing number of quilts. The Wednesday quilters have been working, I have been told,
since Moses was on the earth and, they too, have completed a large number of quilts. Please also bring along
with you any special quilt you have for display. We will be making and taking a quilt-pieced pillow top. No
sewing experience necessary!!!!! This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bandages) event if you struggle with pins
and needles. This is going to be great!!! Invite friends!!! To register, email ([email protected])
or call the church office (724-735-2854).
Our fall Ladies Night Out will begin Tuesday, September 18, 2018, with a focus
on Harmony quilters. It will be a “make & take” evening with each guest
completing a quilt-pieced pillow top (see further details above). In October
Adam Darby will be throwing clay on a potter’s wheel, creating pottery and
sharing the Good News through Jeremiah’s experience. Adam is a high school
art teacher in Hermitage. Adam will presenting his program on Tuesday,
October 16. Our final fall meeting will be with Attorney Ron Coyer on
Tuesday, November 13. I have asked Attorney Coyer to speak about estate
planning/wills with a particular focus on women. I am hoping you are liking the sound of these 3 programs
and will plan to join us. There always is time to catch up with friends (aka fellowship), good food, and good
programs. Any suggestions for future LNO, contact Becky Sopher ([email protected] or 724-355-
