Two trucks quickly responded and there was little damage . December I the Lakeland firemen were called to Central Islip Boulevard where they extinguished a brush fire. The new St. Eliza- beth' s Residence for the Aging in West Islip has been given an in- itial appropriation of $13,270. Direct income , such as fees , state reimbursments and income from CYO activities will account for an estimated $87, 225 of the year ' s income. Catholic charities share of the 1900 Long Island Fund Drive is expected to be ap- proximatley $32 , 000. The net income from the I960 bishop 's dinner at the Garden City Hotel and the annual Cath- olic Charities ' appeal conduc t ed last May amounte d to $4118 ,942. It is hoped that the balance of $33, 087 will be realized during the fiscal year by gifts from founda- tions , individuals and business firms. School News BLUE POINT ELEMENTARY Mrs. Alice Larrabee ' s sixth grade presented a play at the Friday afternoon assembly at 1 o ' clock in the school auditorium- The theme was "Litterlmgs. " The Jitterbugs were played by Marguerite Hanra- han. Chery l Scileppi , Steven Les- sey, Larry Taylor] James Garhart , and Amy Peck and the clean-up- pers w-ere Jean Considine , Terry Huber , Margaret Vernon , Thomas Schaub , Michael Travers and BeUy Jane Foy. The play was followed by a talk by Mr. Hawkins, prin- cipal , along the lines of keeping the school grounds and community clean. Mrs. Sara h Howard' s second grade gave a Thanksgiving play at an assembly program Novem- ber 22. All the children were dressed in Pilgrim costumes. Mr. Hawkins took motion pictures of the event which , with other p ic- tures taken previously, will be shown at a future PTA meeting.
