Items

There are many ways to gain items. The main way, is to fight monsters. On the bottom half of the monster card, is the item you gain from destroying the monster. Each item is unique and can give you a variety of bonuses. Another way to gain items is through trade. You can trade items to the merchant or from player to player, (check the trading section for more info). When drawing from a deck, you can find items that aren’t attached to a monster, these items will be one time use. Items such as curses, potions, and events. Each item has a value listed in the top right corner next to the bonus. (i.e. 200 gold or 200g).

Trading

As stated before, each card has a value. When trading between the players, they can work it out between one another. The merchant has six cards face up, two cards from each location deck. The value of these cards is doubled. If you have the appropriate amount of gold from the items you possess, you may trade them in for the merchant card you desire. The items you trade in stay in the merchant’s selection, allowing any player to buy them. You can trade cards in your hand, or equipped to your character.

Equipping Your Items

When you defeat a monster, or gain an item in another way, it can go to your hand or you can equip it to your character. The monster cards are split down the middle, the bottom half are the items you can equip, you equip them by sliding the monster card under your character card until the monster is no longer visible and only the item remains. You can have one armor, one footwear, one helmet, one two-handed weapon or two one-handed weapons. If the card is not specified to be any of these types, you may equip as many as you wish.

Your Hand

You are allowed six cards in total in your hand. If you have more than six cards in your hand, you must either discard it, or trade it to the merchant. You can switch out an item from your hand and equip it to your character after combat. If you do not draw a monster, you can equip the item immediately.

Combat

When you draw a card from one of the location decks and it is a monster, you must fight it. The monster’s strength is represented by the number in the top right corner of the card. Your

character's strength is represented by the number in the top right corner of the character card. If your character’s strength and bonuses add up to be smaller than the monster’s, you lose as many item cards you have equipped to make up for the difference.

For example, if the monster’s strength is 8 and you only have a base of 3, a +1 chest plate, and a +2 sword, you add up all of your card’s bonuses and you have to give up the chest plate to make up for the difference. If you can’t make up for the difference, you lose all of your equipped items. The monster remains faceup and can be killed by any of the players on their turn that have access to that location. The monster also keeps the items the player dropped. When killed, the player gains the loot from the monster as well as the dropped items from the warrior it defeated.

If you have a one time use item, that gives you bonuses to your attack, you can play it to defeat the monster. If your attack is equal to the monster’s you must discard an item you have equipped to defeat it.

Starting the Game

Game Setup Shuffle the location decks, arrange them however you wish. Draw two monster cards from each deck, place them face up away from the location decks, these are the six merchant cards. Each player rolls the die to see who has first pick of the character cards, the highest roll chooses first. Once determined, have the players choose their character. Place your character in front of you.

Once all of the players have chosen their characters, the player that rolled the lowest is the first to draw from the Grassland Deck. Every player starts the game drawing from the Grasslands deck until they have enough items to sell for access to the next location deck. 1000 gold buys you access to the Desert Deck. 2000 for the Volcano Deck. The next player to draw is the player to the left of the lowest roller.

Playing Through a Turn

1. Draw from the location deck you have access to.

2. If it’s a monster, you must fight it. If it’s a special card, read it’s effects. If it’s a one time use card, bring it to your hand or use it immediately.

3. This is your opportunity to trade with the merchant or other players.

4. You may equip items from your hand and return equipped items back to your hand.

5. This is the end of your turn.

The Battle Royale

Once the 10 turns is up, this is the time for the final fight between the players. You begin this stage by having all the players roll the dice to see who can act first. The player with the highest roll may choose his target, the player to the highest roller’s left with go after him and so on. Each player may use any of their one time use items to improve their attack score. The fights play out much like a fight with a monster. However, the players can have one time use

items stored up in their hand waiting for the final fight. If you don’t have enough attack score to defeat the player that’s attacking you, you may give up a number of items to make up the difference to survive that fight. In this case, neither player wins this fight, it ends in a stalemate. You may trade with any of the players so long as it’s after the combat. This incentives players to attack other targets. The game ends when there is one player left standing.
