During her career Val gained experience in trust/escrow management, mergers and acquisitions, real estate underwriting, budgeting and finance, strategic planning and personnel management. She graduated from Graduate School of Banking at Colorado in 2009. Val resides in Bozeman, Montana and is the proud Mom of two Montana State University graduates. She loves animals and supports Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter.

Laura Brin, a Colorado native, holds a B.A. in Sociology from Pitzer College, a member of The Claremont Colleges. Since landing in Bozeman her nonprofit career has aligned with her passion for education as a way to empower women and communities. Laura is the Development Director for The Traveling School, an international semester school for high school girls. Her prior professional pursuits have included working with Aware, Inc., Central Asia Institute, and Montana State University. She also served a six-year board term with Bridgercare. In addition to engaging in the well-being of her community, Laura enjoys playing in Montana’s mountains and rivers with family and friends.

Scott Birkenbuel is a third generation Montanan. He came to Bozeman to attend Montana State University. Where he received a BS in Business Management. After graduation, Scott and his wife made Bozeman their home. He then started and managed a small business in Bozeman for 24 years. Currently, he is that Deputy CEO of the Montana Independent Living

Project. The Montana Independent Living Project serves the needs of

people living with disabilities in southwest Montana. mILp serves 14

counties in southwest Montana with offices in Bozeman, Butte and Helena.

Assisting individuals in living full independent a lives in their communities.

Michelle Banaugh is the Montana Commercial Banking Executive with Wells

Fargo’s Mountain Division. She manages the state’s portfolio of commercial

loans and deposits for customers with annual sales between $5 million and

$2 billion.

Michelle has over 20 years with Wells Fargo and her prior positions

include SVP Colorado Business Banking, national sales director for Merchant

Services, and Business Head for Online Payments. Michelle is a Montana

native, Mt. She has her undergraduate degree in Accounting and a MBA in

Marketing and Investments from Golden Gate University.

An active community volunteer, she is currently serving on the

board for Montana Bankers Association with prior board seats on the

Colorado Bankers Association, Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce

Mark brings 40 years of experience in real estate development, construction, hotel management, property management and customer service to his real estate business, Mark Corner Real Estate at Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties. Exceeding customer expectations is how Mark has built his real estate business. Mark's real estate certifications place him in the top 3% of REALOTRS® in our area. Mark is also active with the Gallatin Association of Realtors serving as the Vice Chair of the Education Committee. Having grown up ski racing at Bridger Bowl since 1972, Mark brings a unique local perspective to his clients.

Kelsey Calnan is a Branch Manager at Rocky Mountain Credit Union, where Kelsey leads daily branch operations and a sales and service culture for all areas and product lines, including driving share growth and member confidence within the community. Kelsey is a new face to the RMCU team, and brings almost ten years of management, operations, and human resource experience to her new role. Kelsey and her three daughters are native Montanans who enjoy everything about this beautiful area we call home. Kelsey is thrilled for the opportunity to participate in Leadership Bozeman, and learn more about Bozeman community.

Ben Crossman works for NorthWestern Energy as Bozeman’s

Supervisor of Electric Operations. He’s been working at NorthWestern for

five years and he is a graduate of Montana Tech (go Diggers!) Raised in

Butte, Ben spent a few years seeing the world in the military and working in

heavy civil construction before returning to Montana in 2014. Ben married

his wife Sarah in 2015 after they fell in love with Bozeman and decided to

settle down there. On the weekends you can find Sarah out-fishing Ben

while floating down the Yellowstone or Madison with their two badly

behaved rescue dogs.

Ron grew up on a farm in rural southwestern Idaho before moving

away to college and starting a career in Mortgage Banking in 1995. Ron, his

wife, and their daughter enjoy sight seeing road trips, hikes and being

outdoors with their dogs. He is a supporter of Big Sky Bravery and also

teaches the School of Mortgage Banking throughout the country.

Dash is an attorney with the Bryan Law Firm, P.C. Dash’s areas of legal practice include business, tax, real estate, and intellectual property. Dash moved to the Bozeman area from Seattle with his wife 2 years ago and has not looked back (except for the few days it hit 30 below zero).

Dash is currently a member of the BETTR (Business, Estates, Trusts, Tax, and Real Property) Section of the Montana Bar Association and the

Bridger Brew Crew (for homebrewing beer). In his spare time, Dash loves to cook, brew beer, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Chris Dulaney graduated from the University of Montana in 2006

with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and shortly after moved to Portland,

OR and began in career in banking. After his first of two children were born,

Chris and his wife, moved back to Montana where he worked with

USBank’s commercial lending team until 2018. In August of 2018, they

moved to Bozeman, MT where he started a career with First Interstate

Bank as a Commercial Relationship Manager. When not in the office, Chris

is spending time with his family and friends enjoying what Montana has to

offer.

Katrina is a Vocational Specialist for Beacon Employment Services at Western Montana Mental Health Center. Beacon is a program that empowers individuals with mental illness to work toward their vocational goals. In addition, she is an On-Site Manager for HRDC’s Blueprint Transitional House for homeless youth. Katrina moved to Bozeman in 2006 after working a summer at the Old Faithful Snowlodge in Yellowstone. She absolutely fell in love with the park and quickly fell in love with Bozeman and the community here. In her free time, Katrina enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with friends.

We have recently moved to Bozeman from Kansas City. We chose Bozeman because of the great outdoor activity options as well as the wonderful pace of life there. We enjoy the mountains and rivers that the Gallatin valley provides. Cary has been in commercial real estate for 35 years in Kansas City, San Antonio and now Bozeman. During his career he has worked on retail development and leasing, multifamily sales as well as general brokerage. Additionally, he has sold raw ground and some medical development and leasing. Cary and Cynthia have 2 boys, one living in Denver and the other living in upstate New York.

Karen Funke and her family moved to Bozeman in 2005 from upstate New York. She managed her husband’s chiropractic offices in Bozeman and Three Forks until 2015 when she returned to higher education to complete her master’s degree in Administration of Higher Education at MSU. Karen is employed by MSU in the College of Education, Health & Human Development where she serves as the Alumni Relations Coordinator and Outreach Specialist. Karen has served on the following boards of several non-profit organizations here in Bozeman: Guinea Exchange, Finding Freedom, and The Compassion Project.

Eilis Gehle has been living in Bozeman since the fall of 2016. She

discovered her love of the town and community when she was living in

Yellowstone National Park during her college summers.

Gregg Hansen is the large format manager for Harrington Pepsi in

Bozeman. He has been with Pepsi for 17 years. Gregg previously managed

different stores for Buttrey Foods/Albertson’s. Gregg earned a degree

from Columbia Basin College and attended Montana State University. He

enjoys the day to day interaction with customers throughout the area. He

and his wife Angie spend their free time raising Australian Shepherds and

mules south of Bozeman.

Leslie Harrison is the Events Manager at Museum of the Rockies, where she’s managed the museum’s two biggest fundraising events – The Wine & Culinary Classic and TwoFly Benefit – since 2015. Montana born and raised, Leslie grew up in Helena and attended MSU, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Finance. Her fundraising career began in Billings, raising money for cancer patients at the Northern Rockies Cancer Center and St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation, where she ran the Messiah Festival and managed Meadowlark House Cancer Patient Lodging Facility. Leslie has three children; oldest son Blaise in Utah, son Trevin in Florence Italy, and daughter Tori in Billings, where Leslie frequently visits grandchildren, Ellie and Mac. Traveling is Leslie’s favorite pastime; in the last ten years, she’s been to Italy, Australia, Qatar, Ecuador, Austria and England. Leslie Harrison,

Stephanie has called Bozeman home for the past 10 years. Originally from Maine, Stephanie was drawn to the Gallatin Valley by its beautiful landscape and even more wonderful residents. Falling into banking by accident, she quickly climbed the ranks at First Interstate Bank and has been a Mortgage Loan Officer for 6 years. Specializing in residential real estate, Stephanie has become known for her dedication to her clients and perseverance on their behalf. In her spare time, she can be found chasing her six year old son, Finley

from adventure to adventure, enjoying the great outdoors.

Matthew Hibbs is an attorney and partner in the law firm Crowley Fleck PLLP with a civil litigation practice focused on commercial, personal injury, employment, and products liability disputes. Matthew graduated with Honors from the University of Montana School of Law and was a Distinguished Scholar and High Honors graduate from the University of Montana’s Davidson Honors College as an undergraduate. Matthew is the Treasurer of the Gallatin County Bar Association and a former Law Clerk to the Honorable Mike Salvagni. Matthew also enjoys coaching youth soccer and basketball, skiing, and spending time with his wife and their three children.

Matthew Hibbs, Crowley Fleck, PLLP

Brian is the General Manager of Fire Suppression Systems. In May,

he moved to Bozeman, from Billings, where he opened the branch office

and served as manager for 1 ½ years. Currently, Brian oversee operations

of two offices and in the process of opening offices in Great Falls and

Missoula. He has been in a managerial position for 9 years from project

management to operations. He obtained a business degree from Colorado

State University. Brian is married with a 2 ½ year old son and a 1 ½ year

old daughter as well as one on the way.

I’ve been in the financial business for over 21 years at first with Merrill Lynch and now at Morgan Stanley. My passion is providing financial clarity, growth and education to my clients: helping women navigate life transitions, business owners balance their business and personal financial goals, pre-retirees and retirees set comfortable income plans, and helping create philanthropic plans for those who want to leave a legacy. Having grown up in the Puget Sound area of Washington, I have lived in Montana since 1984. In my spare time, I love travel, wine, cooking and spending time with my family.

Amanda Keith, SHRM-SCP is a Human Resources Generalist at Zoot Enterprises, Inc. where she gets to live out her passion for talent acquisition and encouraging employee engagement & development. Prior to becoming a Zooter, she had the privilege of working with the HR teams at Bacterin International, Inc., Yellowstone Club, and Ressler Motors. Amanda is an alumna of Bozeman High School and Montana State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and is a Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional. Amanda is proud to call Bozeman home. She and her family enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, playing soccer, and gardening and Amanda is always excited to plan her next world adventure. Go Cats! Rob Holden is a staff accountant at Anderson ZurMuehlen, a

Montana-based CPA firm. Rob’s past 10 years of experience include

providing client services to small businesses and nonprofits around the

Gallatin Valley. He holds a Master’s of Professional Accountancy from

Montana State University and is actively pursuing his CPA license. Outside

of the office Rob enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two

daughters.

Benjamin Matheney is a native of Pennington, New Jersey, who is now a Sales Accounts Manager at Fisher’s Technology in Bozeman, Montana. Prior to moving to Bozeman, Ben attended Silverhawk Aviation Academy and Caldwell Community College in Caldwell Idaho. Ben also attended Utica College in Utica, New York, where he studied Construction Management and played football. Ultimately gaining a position at New Generations Solar Energy Corporation as a foreman. One of Ben’s passions is giving back to the community by volun-teering for the Special Olympics, coaching boys recreational basketball, and volunteering for various organizations.

Melody Mileur made Bozeman her home after years living in North Dakota and Alaska. She currently works for the City of Bozeman as their Communications Coordinator and loves seeing the impact of her work in her community. A graduate of Gonzaga University, Melody endeavors to live her life with the guiding principles of mind, body and spirit. Her most recent passions include her newly organized book club, her work on The Verge Theatre board, and exploring new parks and trails in the Bozeman area.

I moved to Belgrade MT in 2004. I went to work for Clear Channel

Radio as an air traffic programmer and a morning DJ. I was on the

morning show for XL Country with Pete Hanson. When I left radio, I went

back into banking with US Bank. Over my 10 years with the company I

have been a teller, universal banker, personal banker, assistant branch

manager and, currently, a mortgage loan assistant. I have lived a lot of

places in my life and many different types of employment. I have a family

with 2 children.

Ronda Mountford, USBank

RJ is a commercial lender and credit analyst at American Bank, a family-owned bank with six locations, all in Montana. For the last five years he has worked to provide the highest quality of service to American Bank’s customers through hands-on involvement in all aspects of lending, from initial conversations to loan closing and beyond. RJ graduated from Augusta High School and Mon-tana State University, where he earned a degree in business finance after an exchange program at the University of Hawaii. He delights in the opportunity to engage in relationship banking as a con-tinuation of his small-town roots.

Breonna Nelson has been with Opportunity Bank of Montana since August 2008. “What I love the most at working at Opportunity Bank is the bank’s commitment to relationships. I am devoted to creating deep, and trustworthy connections.” Breonna is a proud graduate from Gallatin College at Montana State University, earning an associates of science bookkeeping/business management. Breonna is happily married to her husband Court Nelson and has

two cavalier king Charles spaniel’s named Henry and Charlie. Away from

the office, she enjoys the outdoors, boating, camping, and gardening.

Joe Perrelli is a Project Manager at Martel Construction. He enjoys

the daily challenges and rewards of managing projects across Montana

and California. Building relationships with clients and other industry

leaders are the highlight of his work. Joe is part of the Construction

Leadership Council with the Montana Contractors Association which

focuses on developing the next generation of construction industry

leaders in the state. Joe’s passion for construction started at a young age

and further developed at Montana State University where he earned a

Bachelors Degree in Construction Engineering Technology and Minor in

Business Administration.

Jamie is a Mortgage Coach and Certified Divorce Lending Professional at CMG Financial. With over 7 years of real estate experience under her belt and over 750 successful loan closings in her career, this makes her a seasoned lender in the area. She is dedicated to everyone’s short- and long-term goals and achieves this by active listening, discovery questioning, and extensive research to determine the best situation possible. She is also active within the community as a CAP Mentor and food bank volunteer. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree with a focus of Dietetics from Montana State University.

I grew up in Bozeman/Belgrade and attended Belgrade High

School. I completed my BSc in Mechanical Engineering at Montana State

University with a Minor in Aerospace Engineering. After graduating, I

relocated to Charlotte-NC, Bakersfield-CA and Midland-TX working

careers as a project manager (fire protection, Charlotte-NC) and Engineer

in the oil and gas industry before moving back home to Bozeman MT with

my wife and son to work as a Project Manager at Zoot Enterprises. I have

spent the majority of my life in this valley and look forward to discovering

new ways to serve it better.

Jimmy Talarico is an associate owner and project designer at CTA | Cushing Terrell, a national architecture and engineering firm that works with some of the largest companies in the world - including Target, Dell, and Google. Jimmy holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Environmental Design and Architecture from Montana State University in Bozeman. He has been recognized as an international artist and co-owns Memories To Masterpiece, a space he created to display his wax on canvas artwork. Jimmy has worked as a builder in the construction industry and has served as an Instructor of Architecture at Montana State University.

I am a realtor with Bozeman Real Estate Group in Bozeman and

love that my job allows me to meet new people and be so involved in the

community. I moved to Bozeman in 1993 with my husband, together we

own Von Construction and have been building custom homes in the

Gallatin Valley for 26 years. I am an active member of our local building

association where I’m on the Parade of Homes committee and run the

Golf committee. I am also the 2018 Affiliate of the Year. I also volunteer

on the Professional Standards Committee and am a past member of the

Government Affairs Committee for our local Realtor’s Association.

Kathleen Vaughn, Bozeman Real Estate Group

Taylor Travers (soon-to-be Taylor Mustoe) is the branch manager

of the Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Bozeman. Her job duties include

managing a large retail team, coaching and developing, leading

community involvement, etc. She is originally from Colorado and

relocated to Bozeman for a career opportunity in January 2018. Taylor

received a Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Marketing

from the University of Northern Colorado. Taylor spent her junior year of

college as an exchange student at Montana State, which is where her

love of Montana (specifically Bozeman) began. She is excited to be a part

of Leadership Bozeman!

Jen Wendel was just hired as the Assistant Aquatic Director for

Eagle Mount. She is excited to use her combined experience of ten years as

a swim coach and her degree in Therapeutic Recreation to make a

difference in the lives of people with disabilities. She is passionate about

teaching swimming and making people safer in the water. In her new role

at Eagle Mount, she has enjoyed meeting many community members and

MSU students. She looks forward to learning more about her community

and finding her niche to make an impact in Bozeman.

Troy Watling is the assistant director in charge of finance for the

Gallatin Airport Authority which owns and operates the Bozeman

Yellowstone International Airport. Outside of work Troy enjoys serving the

community through his membership in the Sunrise Rotary Club and local

nonprofit boards and spending time with family and friends, hiking, biking

and fishing.

Shannon Warren is a Certified Public Accountant with Amatics CPA Group. She has worked in public accounting in Bozeman for over 12 years. She is currently managing the accounting services practice area, overseeing all controller, bookkeeping and payroll services. Prior to focusing on accounting services, she worked in both tax and audit. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business and her Masters of Professional Accountancy from Montana State University. Shannon grew up here in the Gallatin Valley and is now raising her family here. She and her husband have three children who enjoy various sporting activities as well as hiking and camping.

My name is Jennifer West and I have spent seven years in the

banking industry. Currently, I am a Junior Mortgage Loan Officer at Bank of

Bozeman, where I initiate loan applications and educate clients on the

different loan options available. My enlistment in the Marines taught me

about the importance of integrity and how you can make an impact on the

lives of the people that you encounter. My ultimate goal is to create

clients for life. When I’m not working, I enjoy a google Netflix binge, skiing

and going on hikes with my husband, daughter and two pups.

Tyler Wheeler was born in Bozeman, graduating from Bozeman High and Montana State University. After spending 12 years in Billings, Tyler, along with his wife and daughter Marcella, recently moved back to Bozeman for a career opportunity and to be closer to his family. His background in Marketing and Design for financial institutions led him to his current position as Marketing Director for First Security Bank. His interests include skiing, golfing, and watching way too much baseball.

Tim White is a 5th generation Gallatin Valley native. He received a

BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Montana State University, and for the

last 6 years has worked as a Structural Engineer and Project Manager with

Morrison-Maierle. Tim is a registered professional engineer, structural en-

gineer, licensed crane operator, and certified weld inspector. Tim

currently serves on several leadership boards within Morrison-Maierle,

including the 401k Committee and the Strategic Planning Team. When not

out enjoying Montana’s great outdoors with his wife and high school

sweetheart. Tim can be found on the family ranch south of Bozeman.

Leadership Bozeman 32

Chair:

Wytni is a fourth generation Bozemanite, a Bozeman Hawk and an avid Bobcat fan. She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and received her B.S. in Education. She taught a year of eighth grade math in Grand Forks while completing her M.S. in Education, also at UND. After completing her degrees, Wytni returned to Bozeman where she found a job in banking and has remained in the industry for the past fourteen years. Wytni has been with Stockman Bank for the past ten years and is currently the Assistant Vice President of Market Operations for the Gallatin Valley. Wytni graduated from Leadership Bozeman 25. She enjoyed participating in Leadership Bozeman so much that she has continued on as a chair of the program ever since. She looks forward to meeting the new group of LB 32 participants!

Chelle Berkland, a Chicago Native, traded the hustle and bustle of

the Windy City for the slower lifestyle and natural beauty that Bozeman

has to offer. She attended Iowa State University, graduating with honors,

receiving her Bachelor of Science in Apparel Merchandising. During that

time, she studied abroad at the London College of Fashion which sparked

her interest in both design and travel! Chelle has worked in sales and

customer relations for several years, recently onboarding with the

Architect’s Wife as store manager, located downtown in the historic

Montana Motor Supply building. Chelle is passionate about life and

always ready for the next adventure. Her 4-year-old son, Jude, husband,

Marcus, and their boxer, Deuce, keep her busy while enjoying hiking, the

outdoors, and entertaining! Chelle Berkland, Architect’s Wife

Nolan knows no stranger, and a great hair cut to boot. Having spent over 15 years in marketing and public relations where he continues meet the incredible people within the Bozeman community for Security Title Company. Crystal Fiedler is the owner and showroom manager of

Distinctive Lighting. As a native of Gallatin Valley, Crystal attended

Belgrade High School and graduated from MSU in 2006 with a

degree in Psychology. In addition to managing the operations of

Distinctive Lighting, she serves on the Board of Directors for the

Southwest Montana Building Industry Association as well as the Board for

the Montana Building Industry Association. Crystal and her husband Bill

spend their time raising their 5 children while enjoying all that Montana

has to offer.

Kevin is president and partner at APRS Physical Therapy, along with

being a full-time treating physical therapist. In his 14 years at APRS he has

gone on to get board certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist. He has been

involved in numerous organizations; as a big brother with BBBS and also

board member and chair, chair of board of directors for Intermountain Fi-

nancial, serves on the Legislative Committee for Montana Physical Therapy

Association. Kevin attained his undergraduate and graduate degrees at

the University of Montana, a BS in Athletic Training and his Doctorate of

Physical Therapy.

My name is Jacquelyn Stroth, and I have lived in Montana for over 25 years. I graduated high school from Cut Bank, MT, received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Montana State University Billings, and I received my Masters of Business Administration from the University of Montana. I started working for First Interstate Bank right out of Graduate School, and I am now a Commercial Lender eleven years later. My husband and I have lived in Bozeman for eleven years, and we have a four year old daughter named Kaylee. We love Bozeman and the life we have created here.
