============================================================================================================ Hello Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard Pros, I hope all of you are healthy, doing well and enjoying summer fun. I would like to start by letting all of you know how incredibly excited I am to return to Beaver Creek as Director of one of the most prestigious schools in the world. I have worked in the Ski and Snowboard School business for the last 27 years and climbed up through the ranks from instructor to director. My life-long love of snow sliding has been fueled by an endless search for untracked snow and my desire to be the best. I have chased winter around the world and have been fortunate to have had success in Synchronized Skiing and Powder Eight competitions and been crowned World Champion and European Champion respectively. My passion has always helped and guided my desire to lead and direct ski and snowboard instruction. I have obtained broad experience through directorships at Keystone and Telluride and gained extensive operational knowledge closer to home as the General Manager of Children’s programs at Lionshead and as General Manager of Adult programs at Beaver Creek. I believe the continued growth and success of the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School rests on the shoulders of those who have vision for the future, can show adaptability, and have a solid foundation in its history. I am prepared for and am optimistic about the future of the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School. My door is always open and I would love to hear what inspired you to be in this industry. Please stop by, introduce yourself, reconnect, share your story or just say hello. Sincerely, Fred Rumford Director, Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School 970.754.5305 [email protected]As the summer season swings into high gear at the resort, we are excited to welcome Fred Rumford to Beaver Creek as the Director of Skier Services. Many of you know Fred from the mid-2000’s when he was the General Manager of the Beaver Creek Adult POD, guiding the school during an unprecedented period of growth. Over the years, Fred has gained a great deal of experience and knowledge in the industry which will prove to be invaluable in his new role. We look forward to working with Fred and all of you to help make the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School the best we can possibly be. We hope you are all enjoying a safe and healthy summer. Please feel to contact us regarding the upcoming season. GLUTE BRIDGE:
The Gluteus Maximus muscle is responsible for movement of the hip and thigh.
Simple acts like rising from a seated position, climbing stairs, and maintaining an
erect position are all aided by the
glutes. Weak glutes can cause the
hamstrings and lower back muscles to
compensate for the lack of strength.
This can cause a number of issues
such as lower back pain, tight hip
flexors, and poor posture. If you suffer
from lower back pain, want better
posture, or a more lifted seat, try
incorporating the glute bridge 2-3
times a week into your workout
routine!
Move of the Month
Challenge yourself further:
Once you become confident and can complete this exercise with ease, progress the movement
into a single leg bridge to challenge your glutes even further. In the starting position fully ex-
tend one leg out so just a single knee is bent. Complete as the exercise as you did before from
the single leg stance. Remember to keep your abdominals engaged to avoid hyperextension as
you complete the exercise with the extended leg. Complete one set of 12-15 reps on one side
and then switch legs, working up to 3 sets on each side.
1. Lie flat on your back on an exercise mat or the floor with your hips flexed and knees bent. Place your
feet about shoulder width apart and your arms at your sides. Keep your feet flat against the floor and fac-
ing forward. This will be your starting position.
2.Upward phase: Slowly exhale as you engage your abdominal muscles. Contract your glutes, push
through your heels, and raise your hips up off the floor. Avoid hyperextension or arching your back by
lifting your hips too high. Try to maintain a straight line from shoulder to hip to knee at the top of your
bridge.
3.Lowering phase: Inhale and slowly lower yourself back to the starting position. Repeat the exercise for
3 sets of 12-15 repetitions.
