Case a → “Generator-source short circuit“ AC-component decays faster as DC-component. Resulting asymmetrical current can cause delay of current zero for several cycles at the time of contact parting

Case b → “System-source short circuit“ No delay of current zero since DC-component is up to 75% only. Magnitude of current is comparatively high at the time of contact parting
